ok this is probably a silly question but. how do.. helmets work? are they transmatted on or are they taken on and off by guardians? have we seen or read about how they work? i’m definitely overthinking this lol
Both! Just depends on the situation. I can't currently find any that specifically mentions the transmat of a helmet, but we know from general information that transmatting any individual equipment is possible.
There's also plenty of examples of Guardians just taking the helmet off normally and holding it. For example:
Lord Saladin tucks his helmet under his arm and marches inside.
And here:
She pulled off her helmet and let the fresh air cool her slate-blue skin.
Leading with Leather
You know, not many TMNT writers, official and fanfic, take advantage of Leatherhead's potential as a plot device. Think about. In the comics, Leatherhead's motivation is to return to the Utroms that created him, and to do this he's trying to build a transmat device of his own. Considering that the Turtles' first encounter with a transmat device sent them to meet the Fugitoid Professor Honeycutt and into their first fracas with the Triceratons, no telling what kind of crazy adventures Leatherhead's personal Transmat could result in.
