legitimately the funniest thing about the 616 universe is the number of times a superhero - any superhero except like bucky, pick one - is like, "surely nick is being honest and forthcoming this time!" and are shocked - shocked! - when it turns out he was, in fact, lying.

"Hey, Tony. Guess who has one thumb and needs some quick repairs?"

Of course, he's pointing his thumb(s) at his face. The metal one was just.. gone, as was the pointer.

It's rare for Jess to be outside the cityscapes of New York, to find herself amongst the state's luscious, often underappreciated greenery. It's even rarer to be out in it with Tony Stark. So rare, in fact, she can think of a whole ZERO times it's happened. Yet, here she stands with him now ⸺⸺ cradling a gathered bunch of her thematic dress to keep it from dragging through the mud and puddles from earlier that morning, currently craning her neck to gesture towards a food stand advertising GIANT TURKEY LEGS.

Seconds later, she's on the move for one.

❝ I'm making a PIT STOP. Don't worry, I'm sure I can scarf down the whole thing in time to see that fella with the flaming whips. ❞ Jessica's silky costume falls from her hands as she uses them to mime a whip ⸺⸺ complete with her own cracking HWA-TSH sounds.

She then STUMBLES over the sudden intrusion of fabric at her feet.

𝚃𝙷𝙴  𝙲𝙰𝚃  𝙶𝙾𝙴𝚂  𝚆𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙴  𝚂𝙷𝙴  𝚆𝙰𝙽𝚃𝚂  —  there  had  not  been  a  security  system  invented  yet  to  keep  her  out  (  for  long  )  and  an  ordinary,  hapless  doorman  would  never  stand  a  chance.  That’s  how  she  found  herself  at  the  black  tie  soiree  attended  by  the  well-heeled  of  New  York  society,  brushing  elbows  with  hedge  fund  fat  cats,  silver-tongued  politicians,  and  socialites  (bluebloods  and  new  money  alike).  It’s  easy  pickings  for  the  Cat,  with  bracelets,  watches,  cufflinks,  several  necklaces,  and  even  a  pair  of  impressive  diamond  solitaire  earrings  finding  their  way  into  the  lining  of  her  clutch. 

“Now  what’s  a  benevolent  tech-oligarch  like  you  doin’  in  a  stuffy  place  like  this?”  Felicia  is  presumptuous,  all  self-assured  feline  arrogance,  as  she  loops  her  arm  with  Stark’s  —  performing  friendly  familiarity  even  as  she’s  attaching  an  illicitly  obtained,  garishly  extravagant  watch  to  his  wrist.  Snowy  head  tilted  back  and  lips  twisted  into  a  mischievous  grin,  the  thief  dropped  her  untouched  glass  of  champagne  on  to  a  passing  server’s  tray.

She  was  a  person  of  questionable  character,  not  a  total  monster,  after  all. 

“Oh,  and  you’re  welcome  by  the  way  —  if  it  weren’t  for  me,  you’d  have  to  deal  with  what’s-his-name?  Hammer?  Muskrat?  They  all  blur  together  after  a  while.”
