Transfoundationalism is an ideology/term for those who believe to be trans one must:
Experience a disconnect between one's perceived identity and one's true identity.
Experiencing dysphoria due to that misidentification and disconnect, and/or experiencing euphoria when exploring one's true identity and being identified as it.
This is made to be a sort of in-between for those whose stances fall outside of Transmedicalism beliefs and Anti-Transmedicalism (or "Tucute") beliefs. Doesn't believe seeking medical/physical transition to be necessary to be Trans, however, does uphold the idea that one should desire (or enact) social transition, mental transition, etc.
Against taking up identities under the Trans umbrella simply "for fun" or appropriating experiences under the guise of aesthetics, when one does not experience the points above.
Someone who believes/follows Transfoundationalism can be called a Transfoundationalist, Transfoun, or Transation. These can be added onto existing terms, such as Transation Transexual.
This is made to fit any general Trans- term; this just uses Transgender discourse stance terminology as a reference. Generally made because sifting through multiple posts of Cis- individuals using the Trans- label "for fun" or for "aesthetics" or straight up using the Trans prefix when one's Cis because "do what you want forever" is becoming increasingly frustrating to see as someone who experiences atypical dysphoria/euphoria and is seeking community with similar beings.
This ideology is also generally AGAINST using the Trans prefix being defined as "wanting to be" when coining and encourages the usage of other terms for that experience. Viewing those who are Trans AS their identity completely, over simply being a modifier.
Edit, 05/18/26: The above points are being misinterpreted. Transfoundationalism includes ANY kind of non-physical transitioning. It counts mental transition to be even small things, such as labeling the identity. It is being against labeling "for fun" applies to completely CisID individuals, such as someone who is natal black that doesn't experience racial dysphoria/euphoria and a racial disconnect labeling themself as Transasian for fun/aesthetics.
Transfoundational highly encourages the usage of the MutoID (DissiID for the opposite) for those kinds of experiences. It does NOT apply to already TransID individuals who fit under the Transfoundational requirements picking up labels for fun (or playing with labels) regarding the identity they experience the disconnect and dysphoria/euphoria for.
Edit 2: This can be considered ideologically in-line with TransID Reason Critical.
Made with the big Trans- terms in mind such as race, abled-ness, age, plurality, species. Other Trans- experiences that are easier to (physically/socially) transition to and/or aren't really socially enforced are under less scrutiny. Pretty much the ones folks like to label as "nonharmful" TransIDs.
Explicitly against Transhateful terms in general being accepted under Transfoundationalism, regardless of intent to transition. Views these identities as inseparable from the ideologies they mirror. For Transharmful and Transharmed, Transfoundationalism accepts transitioning as long as it's consensual and doesn't threaten one's life; supporting Critharmful and Critharmed.
