a/n: first-time posting my writing, sorry if this sucks. i love freaky law, and i just had surgery <3
"...her anatomy is remarkable."
the heart pirates exchanged confused glances.
law continued as if discussing the weather.
"minimal scar tissue despite the injuries they survived. her liver regenerated cleanly. the blood vessels are intact where they should be, and her lungs are... surprisingly healthy."
he adjusted a clamp with surgical precision.
"i've operated on countless people. pirates, marines, civilians." his golden eyes briefly flickered towards your unconscious face. "very few have organs this resilient."
bepo blinked. "captain... are... are you complimenting her organs?"
"they deserve it."
the room fell silent.
law continued stitching.
"her heart rhythm is stable even under severe blood loss. efficient. strong." a faint pause. "it's a good heart."
shachi snorted. "captain, you make that sound romantic."
law ignored them completely.
"her kidneys show no long-term damage despite chronic dehydration." he examined another monitor. "healthy pancreas. excellent spleen. her body recovered from malnutrition far better than expected."
he nodded to himself in quiet approval.
"i'd give her organs a perfect score."
"CAPTAIN," bepo whispered, horrified. "normal people compliment someone's eyes..."
law didn't even glance up.
"i notice organs first."

I think Law is lowkey mean if you hurt yourself in a dumb way
Like you forgot sunscreen and got a sunburn? Yeah heâll put aloe on it but also call you an idiot and insist you take some with you everywhere you go from now on
Your shoulder hurts from where you ran into a wall because you werenât watching where you were going? Heâll toss you an ice pack but he isnât helping that was just stupid of you to do
Your wrist hurts from the repetitive motion of whatever hobby you like to do and you refuse to do the stretches he showed you? He isnât rubbing it or giving you medicine thatâs on you
Law doesnât visit stupid people in the hospital okay if you land yourself there for a stupid reason then you get to figure it out yourself he doesnât have time for stupid (but then he will check in with you and make sure youâre taking your meds because he is that tsundere ass bitch)

He was close. You could feel the heat radiating off him, and you had to crane your neck just a bit to make eye contact.
âWell? If youâre not going in there, can you move?â Law asked, looking slightly agitated.
You just stared at him, not moving and not responding to his question, frozen. You didnât even know what to say. Panic started to set in.
This was a bad idea I look insanely suspicious right now I donât even know what to-
âHello?â Law said again; that damn attitude. âWhat are you even doing here?â
âUhhhhhhhâ
Fuck it, you still werenât even sure this was real anyways
âI was looking for youâ you said suddenly, before you could really think about it.
âWhy?â he looks a little suspicious.
UmmmmmâŚyea you really did not think that through idiot, not even we can help you right now
âcauseâ you tried, voice trembling a bit.
âBecause?â
You opened your mouth and saidâŚnothing. You were truly at a loss for words, which usually never happened. You wanted to just run away, you could feel yourself about to cry, but for some reason that didnât feel like the right option. You decided to be a little brave as you swallowed down the lump in your throat, hoping that the soft side youâd imagined heâd harbor had some truth.
âIâm sorryâ you blurt, just kind of winging it, now praying this was all in your head
Silence, then a single word
âWhatâ
Law heard you, by the way, heâs just really not used to people apologizing to him.
âIâm sorry for laughing at you yesterdayâ you start, trying to think of a way to explain the situation, voice shaky as hell. âI was just really overwhelmed and I kind of couldnât believe you were actually talking to me cause like, youâre Trafalgar Law the Surgeon of Death, and I know I havenât really explained anything to you yet about the TV show but Luffy just chases you around and you hate it but youâre also his friend??? and your relationship with him is funny and- I donât even know what im trying to say, and-â
Youâre spiraling. Your sentence has no end. Each word you say you start to panic a bit more. You cut yourself off, tears starting to fall
He just looks at you, very confused, and a little worried. It seemed to be his natural state on the Thousand Sunny.
ââŚandâŚI swear none of you were real to me until 18 hours ago and Iâm still so fucking freaked outâŚâ You choked out, letting yourself fully cry now, bringing your arms up to hug yourself. You never cried in front of them yesterday, you didnât even let yourself cry that much in private either, you just seemed more shell shocked.
âI donât know whatâs going on, Iâm still not 100% convinced Iâm awake and I know that my arrival here is absolutely h-horrible timingâ you say through your tears, voice quivering. âBut I promise I didnât mean for any of this to happenâ You plead now, âI donât want to get in your way and screw everything up Iâm sorry, and I pinky promise Iâm not a spy working with Doflamingo *sniff* I fucking hate that guy and I can prove it, so p-please donât knock me out and throw me off the ship in the nightâ you sobbed out, looking down at the floor.
Law is shocked. He is so bad at dealing with feelings, he doesnât even deal with his own. He just stands there like an idiot while his brain malfunctions.
âHow did she know I suggested that? UGH strawhat canât keep his mouth shut for shit I shouldâve known. What am I supposed to even do here does she expect me to hug her or something? I-I canât help her with thisâ The gears are turning in his head as he tries to analyze the situation
You continue crying for a minute in front of him, sinking down to sit on the floor, forgetting heâs there and letting yourself descend into the chaos that is your current mental state. Honestly, youâre surprised you had held it together at breakfast and with the girls. It all felt so surreal, and you were barely hanging on. You didnât even know what the plan was when you went to talk to Law, you didnât know anything at all. You bury your hands in your face and lean your head back against the door in frustration, only to instantly recoil in a startling pain. You let out a yelp and your hand flew to the back of your head, your tears stopping as the sharp pain rippled across the touch as well. You cried out, God damn that hurt.
Lawâs thoughts stopped instantly. He recognized that sound, that motion. Pain. He didnât know how to help with emotional pain but physical pain? He knew exactly how to make that situation better.
âWhat happenedâ He asked about the reaction, not out of concern, but to assess the medical situation at handâŚonly the situation at handâŚ
âMy head really hurtsâ you mutter out, eyes still filled with tears
Nothing for a moment
âStand upâ
It wasnât a question
You look up at him; heâs extending his arm out to you.
You donât move for a beat, you just look at him while you cradle your head, confused by his intentions.
âCâmonâ he says, slightly impatient, hand still extended. âI need to look at your head againâ
His eyes soften the tiniest bit. You donât notice.
âWhyâ you questioned as a tear slips down your face.
Heâs annoyed again but doesnât like the way his chest tightened at seeing your sad and fearful eyes looking up at him; it felt wrong.
âWhat do you mean why?â
âYouâre a pirateâ you say, âand you think Iâm a traitorâ. âYou have no reason to help me; it would be in your favor to just leave me, wouldnât it?â you ponder aloud, voice thick with tears. It wasnât in character for him to help someone he suspected or helpâŚanyone that wasnât his crew at all really; Luffy was a rare exception.
He groaned and rubbed his temples as he cursed Luffy out in his head once more for even telling you. He spoke again after a moment, voice soft but still laced with irritation
âI know youâre not a spy, okay? Now, let me help you get up so I can check your head againâŚplease.â He grumbled out, the please at the end said a little quieter than the rest.
Your brain can barely process anything right now but hearing the confirmation you didnât have to fight to be believed anymore made you calm down enough to take his hand and stand up. One less thing to figure out.
He moved to open the door behind you, leaning over you just a bit; your breath hitches ever so slightly.
You blame it on the panic attack.
The door opens and he motions for you to go inside, him following behind. You walk into the library and kind of just stand there for a second, not really knowing what to do. Itâs dimly lit and smells like old books and the ocean, a scent that helps further calm your senses. He pulled out the chair from the desk and turned the lamp on, gesturing for you to sit down. So, you do
âCan you take your bandana off?â He asks, voice calm and steady
You do so, reaching to slide it off the back of your head, your hair falling out onto your shoulders.
âIâm going to be lifting and moving your hair around while I check your head like I did yesterday, ok?â
You nod, not saying anything. Your mind was still reeling from the breakdown you just had; you werenât really paying attention to him.
He split your hair into two, gently moving it over your shoulders. He then puts his hands in your hair, carefully threading his fingers through and splitting sections to look at your scalp. The motion had been quite calming to your frantic thoughts; you felt a bit like a live wire right now. You subconsciously relaxed into his touch, and deep breaths started to become possible again.
Meanwhile Laws alarm bells are going off. Right in the center of your head, sprawling across the back, is one of the nastiest fucking bruises heâs ever seen. Your head did NOT look like this yesterday when he checked it, even Chopper said you looked like youâd be okay.
âIt mustâve developed over night while she sleptâ Law thought to himself, continuing his search to see how large the bruise was. He couldnât see the full extent through your follicles, and he didnât want to pull your hair too much.
âWhat happened again?â He asked, trying to conclude how you couldâve smacked your head this hard.
âI told you, I hit my head when I fell into the mirror yesterdayâ you spoke, voice barely above a whisper
âThat doesnât make any sense, why would it be on the back of your head if you fell into the mirrorâ he realized.
âWell, the mirror kind of fellâŚinto meâ
â..Howâ
You told him the story, remembering you never did, and he just looked absolutely floored.
âYouâŚwhatâ
âYea and my head hit the floor before I went through, I was kinda pressed between the two I guess-
âWHY wouldnât you tell me that? That is completely different from knocking your head, youâve suffered a traumatic head injury, do you know the velocity you were falling at? Youâre lucky that portal opened I-â He was scolding you, and you flinched at his tone, causing him to stop short.
âYeahâŚI knowâ you said, voice even quieter.
He felt like a dick. He changed his approach
âI need to use my powers on youâ he said, calmer this time.
âUhhhhâ you say, nervousness creeping into you. âWhy?â
âThe bruise on the back of your head needs immediate medical attention; thereâs blood pooling back there. You could slip into a coma if I donât operate now.â
That makes you chuckle a little, finding it kinda funny; your sick mind found his words extremely, extremely ironic.
âIt might be too late for thatâŚI think Iâve already slipped into oneâ you say, turning towards him. You raise your eyebrows and smirk; your eyes stained with tears giving way to your true state.
âHeh? Get it??â You chided weakly, pointing finger guns at him and making little pew pew motions.
Yea. He needed to operate now.
âI need you to be serious for a moment.â He says in response, a little exasperated
âThis is me being serious, I canât stand tense situations for too longâ you say, quieter.
âDoesâŚit hurt?â you asked after a moment, looking at him again, a little more vulnerable than you wanted to.
He softened once more. You did notice this time.
âNo, it doesnât, I promiseâ he said, tone reassuring. âIt wonât take long either, Iâm just going to relocate the blood thatâs pooling there and heal the damaged brain tissues.â
You thought about it for a moment before nodding your head slowly, turning back around and taking a deep breath
âOkayâ
Itâs still for a moment, then he activates his powers
âRoomâ
In an instant you were enveloped inside his bubble, everything outside of it looked a little distorted as the energy it emitted hummed quietly. Law once again placed his hands back on your head, before speaking another command.
âScalpelâ
You couldnât see what he was doing, but you could feel it. The pressure in the back of your head started to ease, slowly but steadily. You felt an immediate relief as the once sharp pain had now faded into a soft ache. You didnât even realize how badly your head had hurt, too caught up in a million other things whilst trying to keep your composure. You sighed out in relief, and a steady calm started to bloom deep inside you.
After a few moments he had finished and closed the bubble. You reached your head up to feel where the pain once festered, surprised to find you felt nothing at all. You turned around to look at him once more, eyes wide in shock.
âDoes everything feel okay?â he asked, eyes analyzing you in a clinical manner, making sure you didnât have any more ailments.
âY-Yes the pains completely goneâŚthank you so muchâ you respond. You had always seen him perform medical miracles on screen but experiencing it for real left you a little awestruck.
He nodded his head
âItâs what I doâ
It was quiet for a beat as he had moved to sit down on the couch, across from the desk. You were feeling better, the lack of attention paid to your tears helped them dissipate and you started thinking clearly again. You hated crying in front of other people, and it was even worse when someone commented on it or tried to hug you. You found it quite comforting that he ignored it completely and focused on something else.
âIâm sorry you saw thatâŚâ you say, voice barely above a whisper
âItâs been a lot all at once, and Iâm just not totally convinced everythingâs okay with meâ you finish before looking down at the floor.
He wracks his brain looking for any response, coming up short. I mean, he gets it, he guesses he would be scared if he was you too but that doesnât mean the right words are going to just pop into his head, and heâs smart enough to know that those ones arenât right either.
His logical and awkward brain can only recall his medical training right now, different procedures and illnesses bouncing around in his mind, listing symptoms of some disorder to calm himself. Wait a minuteâŚ
He stands up and grabs the clock thatâs sitting behind you on the desk.
âDoes this look like the clocks in your world?â
ââŚYea?â you say, brows furrowing in confusion.
âWhat time is itâ
â12:45??â you reply as if it was obvious.
âOkay then. youâre awake.â He responded as if it was equally obvious
You stare at him, not getting it.
ââŚWhatâ
âThereâs a multitude of things that you cannot understand or grasp when youâre in a coma, the concept of time is one of them. People that have woken from comas couldnât recall ever recall how much time had passed and had never seen a clock. Besides, people in comas donât ever think theyâre trapped in one, thereâs not enough constant brain activity for you to process things like thatâ
âReally?â you say, voice small but hopeful
âYea, the chemicals that are released when the brain lapses into a coma create a mental state that- he goes on to explain exactly how your brain worked under a coma caused by injury, getting very specific. He got lost in it a little, his eyes focused as he carefully detailed all the medical ways you couldnât possibly be experiencing one.
It reminded you of your therapist. She always broke down how anxiety and all the things that came along with it worked in a scientific way, the idea becoming less overwhelming and scary when you learned about the chemicals that are being released in response to various stimuli and such. That calming feeling that had begun to flower when Law fixed your injury started to deepen, the confirmation you werenât trapped in some dream felt like a gasp of fresh air, something solid for your brain to accept as truth, as reality.
âAs long as you can tell me the order of events that happened yesterday, and read the new time again, you scientifically couldnât be experiencing some lucid dream or coma, understand?â
You nodded, proceeding to do so correctly, which earned you a small smile. Rare, from the moodiest man alive.
âGood. Thereâs nothing wrong with you then, besides your seemingly twisted sense of humorâ he chided ever so lightly. You smiled at the quip and then spoke again; a new wave of confidence had rushed back with the rest of your mind coming together.
âSoooâŚwhat made you change your mind about me?â you asked, a questioning look appearing on your face.
He tenses a bit.
âI just didâ
âDid you realize you hadnât slept in days and were probably being paranoid?â You question, a teasing lilt in your voice. You knew he wouldnât have just randomly changed his mind about you, and you know nobody couldâve convinced him otherwise unless he found proof.
You want to know how he found out.
He looked a little bothered at your question. Good.
âI sleep just fineâ he lied through his teeth âand I wasnât being paranoid; I was being cautiousâ he defended
âOh please, if you lived in my world, you would 100% be an insomniac ridden medical student that lives off instant ramen and red bull, sleeps three hours a night, and works the day shifts at like, McDonalds in between your internships or something. I think Iâve drawn a picture of it before.â You chuckled at yourself. You knew he didnât know what some of those things were, but you didnât care, you knew you were spot on.
âWhat did you do, sneak into my room and read my âjournalâ or something?â you added casually, not really caring if he did or didnât, knowing you had left it out in a ship full of pirates. You had nothing to hide after all.
Besides, you had kind of been unknowingly stalking them for the past 2 years of their lives, so you couldnât really get mad if one of them did it in return.
Listen, you werenât stupid by any means. And you werenât some helpless woman either. You were very inquisitive and quick to question and break down situations; you didnât like what you didnât understand. You may have been questioning your sanity for a little bit like anyone would, but the core of you was still functioning true. You also hated the feeling of not being in control, which you realized quickly you had a rare opportunity to gain here.
Law looked uneasy. He hadnât gone into your room, but he didnât really want to say how he knew, knowing what you would think.
âNoâŚI uh, saw you with Cesarâ he revealed hesitantly, sighing the words out in defeat.
âOkay?â you said. âHow did that make you change your mind?â
âWell, Cesar is a very powerful ally to Doflamingo. If he had sent someone to infiltrate the ship and they were able to successfully disarm everyoneâs suspicion of them even for a night, they wouldâve been able to free Cesar and take us down from the inside. Cesar bested us in Punk Hazard once before, and a sneak attack on our turf wouldâve ensured their success a second time; we wouldâve been stopped before we ever had the chance to step foot in Dressrosa.â He explained his thought process. You listened intently, completely following, though a strange thought had begun to form. He continued
âI knew when you left him alone after interacting with him, you had nothing to do with the DonQuixote family, it just didnât add up. He also didnât know who you were, and Doflamingo wouldnât have sent some lackey to do this job.â He finished off. He was sitting forward with his hands folded over his lap as he talked, his tired and sharp eyes looking into your slightly red and puffy ones.
He had neglected to tell you thatâs when he also ran into Robin who had come out of your room and confirmed your story with him. He walked away wondering who or what a Mazda was, and how they could have cut something off you in a town or place called traffic???You had all your body parts still. Anyways, he had let the thought go. He showered and was just going to act like heâd never said it at all, and was even going to try and sleep some until you were right there breaking down in front of him about it. Thanks, Luffy.
You thought for a long moment before you spoke
âHmmmâŚâ you said looking up contemplatively, your hand on your chin. âWell, Iâm glad that you came to your senses that does make me feel a lot better, buuuuutâ you trailed off
âBut what?â Law asked.
âWe need to do something about this spyâ you frowned slightly, fucking with him just a little
Law looked at you, already nervous and not enjoying that look in your eye.
âWhatâŚspyâ he asks cautiously, feeling like he already knew the answer.
âWell, you, of courseâ you said plainly, gesturing to him
He did not answer this time. Instead, he just looked at you like you were holding him at gunpoint and waited for you to explain yourself
âThat room was at the end of a hallway and there was only one way to turn to get back to the main corridor; I definitely donât remember seeing you anywhere near meâ you said, a playful lilt in your voice. âIâm assuming youâve been stalking me sinceâŚlast night actually, not sleeping fine, to make sure I didnât go and free Cesar, right?â
Law now looked extremely nervous, the tips of his ears turning pink realizing that yea, you werenât an idiot, and in attempt to prove you were the spy, he had become the spy.
He had ducked into the storage closet he was using as a hideout when you turned around to walk in the correct direction. And yea, he was most definitely walking between your room and Cesars holding spot all night, not sleeping a wink.
âI uhâŚâ he stumbled out, not knowing what to say to that. Mans was flustered as hell having been read so clearly. He hated that feeling and hated being known so well. Not even Beppo could read him like that. Your story really was true.
âI was dead on wasnât Iâ you smiled and nodded at him knowingly, quite enjoying seeing him like this. Awkward Law was your favorite after all, and you had him right where you wanted him.
Thankfully he didnât have to think of a response (he wouldnât have had anything anyways), because you kept going.
âItâs okayâ you said with a reassuring smile âI get it. I probably wouldâve thought and done the same thing if I was you, given the current situation you guys are in.â You really did show up right before a certified shitshow; the stakes were high.
Law relaxed a fraction upon hearing you agree with him, glad to not have freaked you out too much, but still embarrassed that he had to tell you at all. He swears heâs not a weirdo.
âSo, with that said, I say we make an allianceâ you finished off casually, having thought about how to fix all this.
Law looked at you for a second, deep in thought before he replied
âThereâs already an alliance between usâ
âNooo, the Heart pirates and the Straw-hat pirates have an alliance, and the last time I checked, Iâm not a straw-hat.â You corrected, raising your eyebrow as you looked yourself up and down.
Oh, right. He hadnât thought of it like that honestly, knowing that you were going to be sticking around due to Luffyâs eager determination to keep you with him and solve your âmysteryâ; along with his complete unwillingness to listen to anyone, ever. Like I said he had just given up and was going to let you be, something he found himself doing often these past few days on this ship.
âWhile I absolutely promise you can trust meâ you started âI am still in a precarious situation with already knowing about you and future events here and having incidentally become someone that could still make you uneasy or be deemed untrustworthy. Just âcause Luffy doesnât seem to care about it doesnât mean you donât, and I think a Captain such as yourself deserves to make your own choice whether to trust me or not.â You explained, appealing to his ego the absolute teeniest, tiniest bit. You may be in a different world, but men were still men at the end of the day.
Heâs a little taken aback. He didnât expect you to be soâŚrational and, quite frankly diplomatic. Heâs a little impressed. Heâd been away from his crew for so long that he hadnât really felt like a Captain for a while now, just himself. Plus, itâs hard not to change your way of thinking around Luffy, he was extremely dominant whether he was aware of it or not. He still doesnât say anything, but you can tell heâs thinking about it.
âSo, do we have a deal? I promise wonât betray you, and you can actually get some sleep and stop stalking me in the nightâ You smile, that teasing tone reappearing just for a moment as you held your hand out, an invitation to seal the deal.
He grumbles at your statement but after a moment reaches his hand out to shake yours; Bada-bing, Bada-boom. Your first pirate alliance.
âDeal.â He says relenting, giving your hand a tired but firm handshake. His tattooed hand connecting with yours made your mind fuzzy for a moment, having been aware enough now to realize he was touching you, and having dreamed of those hands touching you even once in your little life.
âWhat did I look like in your drawing?â He asks right after, now pondering on the statement you had made about him if he were to live in your world, making your blush deepen instantly as you broke the handshake and pulled back.
You thought for a minute before you realized you could just redraw it really fast. You were an exceptional artist; you had just gotten into one of the most prestigious art schools in the world, and you were going to be moving to New York next month to start school.
If you could ever get back
You turned around to the desk and grabbed the notebook that was there and looked around for a pencil. You immediately started drawing his alternate version self, and, deciding to show a comparison, drew him in his world in the same way.
The picture was of Law sitting at a desk in scrubs and a clipped-on name tag with a stack of medical books surrounding him as ran one of his hands through his hair, the other grabbing the side of his laptop. You had perfectly captured his overstimulated aura, and for the bit, you added a red bull and a bag with the McDonalds logo on it, a 6 piece sitting on top of a stacks of books with some sauce.
Your other picture was of the same scene, but of him in his office youâd assumed heâd had on the Polar Tang, replacing the items from your world with his. You turned around and handed them to him.
He analyzed them for a moment and looked quite impressed to see how much detail you had done in such little time for both drawings. You couldnât help but feel a little proud at his reaction.
âTheyâre the same picture, rightâ you teased and he looked up at you with a little bit of awe, and a whole lot of curiosity.
âSo thatâs red bull?â he pointed at the little can you had drawn
âYep, itâs an energy drink, itâs like coffee, but waaay worse for you, and more processedâ you laugh, amused at his immediate questioning
âProcessed?â
âYea, a lot of food and drinks in my world are mass produced by these crazy huge businesses since we all live so close together, and they put a lot of chemicals, and God knows what else in what we consume so it lasts longer during its journey to our markets and restaurants.â
Heâs utterly fascinated, and a little disgusted. He goes on
âAnd what isâŚthis McDonalds I would work at? âItâs one of the restaurants that probably have some of the most processed food youâll ever eat in your life. Itâs one you can find all over our world, like I said mass produced, and its fast food so you can pull your car around, get something, and go. Itâs usually filled with 20 something year olds who are either waiting to finish school and get a real job or have no future theyâre excited forâ You explained.
âWhatâs a car?â He fires instantly, processing everything rapidly and trying to get a better picture of how you live.
âWoah there Mr. Twenty Questionsâ you stopped him. âIâm going to explain most of this stuff soon once I finish my little presentation. You can ask as many questions as you want; if I donât already answer them, later.â You chided.
âOne more question.â Law says. You give in and nod for him to continue, and he does, more seriously this time.
âWhat was your proofâ
Youâre taken aback, not expecting that question
âWhatâ
âEarlier, you said you could prove you werenât working with Doflamingo. If I hadnât seen you with Cesar earlier and known it was true already, what would you have told me to convince me?
Your mind erupted with a million examples you couldâve used, not even really knowing what you were going to say to him when you had blurted that out earlier. You knew what you wanted to say, but relaying the final words of his childhood friend/brother figure to him could cause him to freak again. You knew he probably hadnât talked about Corazon with anyone in years. After a moment, an idea popped into your head and you turned around and started sketching again, hands moving rapidly. He looked over your shoulder a bit to see what you were doing but you âtskedâ at him and he stopped. You drew a few pictures before turning around and looking at him, nervousness in your eyes.
âAre you ready?â you asked him
He nodded, seemingly composed, but the look in his eyes gave him away instantly.
You flipped over the first 2 pictures and he flinched. Drawn on the first one was Law as a child, looking angsty as ever, the patches of white that had spread through him because of his sickness ever apparent. The second picture was of Corazon, in all his glory. You had taken a little longer to get the details just right, knowing it was probably the first time heâd seen his face since he was a child.
Law grabbed Corazonâs picture from you wordlessly, his eyes scanning the image rapidly, and you can tell the memories are coming back. You continue, voice soft
âThese arenât the proofâ you start. âI know Doffy knew what you looked like back then, these are for you.â you then flipped over the third picture you had drawn and Law went pale.
âThis, is my proof.â
In your hands, you had drawn the last time that Law saw Corazon alive, a still straight from the TV show, of Corazon smiling with his hand up, blood running down his face, as he tells Law that he loves him. You donât say anything more, knowing that he knew there was no way Doflamingo couldâve witnessed this, and not wanting to freak him out more than he seemed. You have never seen this side of him before on the show, the complete and utter shock had taken over. That was probably one of the most defining and painful moments of his life, and you just redrew it with perfect accuracy.
Yea, no way sheâs a spy he thought. Sheâs a goddamn witch.
He dropped the paper he was holding and reached out for the one you had. He stared at it once more, the same expression on his face as before. He softly reached out to touch the picture, a soft and almost longing action, and your heart clenched at the sight.
âIsâŚis this enough?â you asked cautiously, not wanting to startle him.
He nodded after a moment, not looking up from the picture. He was shaking. You swear you thought you saw a tear fall, but you were definitely not going to say anything about that to anyone as long as you lived.
When he finally spoke it was soft, softer than youâd ever heard it. you almost missed what he said
âThank youâ he started slowly
âIâŚI never thought Iâd see his face again. I had started to forget what he looked like, heâs exactly as I rememberâ he finished, before his eyes finally tore away from the paper to meet yours. You found nothing behind them except pure gratitude laced with a deep longing for a time he cannot return to.
âItâs what I doâ you said, mirroring his response from earlier, not knowing how to accept compliments very well, especially not ones this deep.
He exhaled hard enough from his nose that it could be perceived as a laugh if you knew the circumstance in which it was uttered. He continued, voice a little steadier, but barely.
âYouâre definitely not working for Doflamingo, thatâs for sure, but, uhâ he struggled to say the last part of his sentence
âYea, itâs still, really weird, I know.â You finish for him.
âI need you to understand that Iâm just as confused as you about all of this, though. If I had known you were real people living real lives that were completely unaware of us watching you, I never wouldâve watched the show. Your story and lives are just a small part of my daily life, something that I watch and read for entertainment purposes. I never truly imagined I would be standing here right now.âÂ
âPeople always say they want to live in this world or other âfantasy worldsâ, which, now that I think about it, all of those other worlds could be real too and we just canât get there,â you go off track for a second as you ponder aloud, âBut I donât think people realize how scary theyâd end up looking to everyone, just showing up knowing everything about people who have never seen them in their lives.â You say, gesturing to the air to use your current situation as an example.
Law nodded his head, kind of understanding what you were saying.
âThatâs why I wanted to create an alliance with you. I realized that even though I knew I could prove I wasnât from this world, you would recognize that I really did have extremely sensitive intel into major events that play out here. I was scared it would make you think I was a threat to you still, and Iâm really, really not. Iâm just a woman whoended up in some insane situation, and who really wants to know why this happened.â You finished, pleading with him a little at the end.
Law looked at you for a moment while he thought, extremely impressed by the way you carried yourself. Your self-awareness and the way you spoke so assuredly, every word chosen carefully, and quickly. I mean, you were able to back him into a verbal corner and get a confession out of him, which was extremely rare.
Meanwhile you were starting to get nervous again about his lack of response, worried that he was going to change his mind or something. He broke you from your spiral when he spoke again, only to utter a single word.
âOkay.â
âOkay?â
âYea. Iâll help you figure out what happened. This is still weirdâ he says, lifting the picture in his hand, âbut I believe you, youâre not a threat.â he finished, nodding his head as if to officially decide he was cool with it.
You let out a breath you didnât know you had been holding, extremely relieved for this to finally be over with. you smiled and laughed a sweet laugh of relief as you stood up.
âThank GOD thatâs over wow, I donât think Iâve ever been in a situation that tense in my lifeâ you think, lightening up immediately for his sake. You can tell heâs still affected from seeing Corazon again, and you think itâs probably time to leave to go work on your own stuff.
âThank you again for fixing me up, and for hearing me outâ you say, an appreciative smile on your face as you pull the list out that Robin gave you.
âDo you have anymore questions you want to add?â you asked as you handed it to him. He did, actually, scribbling some down and handing it back to you. He tried to hand back the pictures you drew but you stopped him.
âKeep themâ you said. âI know you donât have many memories of him and your childhood; this is the least I could do to make up for all the weirdness that came along with my presence.â
Law is not used to people being soft to him. He has Beppo and his crew and theyâre his family of course, but heâs still their captain and he has a lot of walls up that prevent situations from getting too sappy around there. Heâs not used to this feeling of being seen and cared about by someone. Itâs the same way he feels around Luffy which is why he acts so awkward all the time. You notice his hesitance, so you take the papers from his hand, nodding your head slightly as if to say âItâs okayâ and put them face down on the desk for him, leaving them there in case he wants to look at them later. With that, you turn to make your leave. You approached the door before you leave, you glanced behind you and saw that he was still looking at you, a little entranced. You smirked and fully turned around before deciding to make one more little joke
âTry and get some sleep, stalkerâ
He instantly flustered again, and before he could respond in defense, you laughed and walked out the door; getting the reaction you wanted.
You took a second to yourself in the hallway now, taking a few deep breaths and recollecting your racing mind. You left the conversation with two victories, an agreement with Law and a comforting confirmation this was all real. All that you had to do now was answer their questions and figure out how to get home, which had like, sub goals but youâll figure that out. You remember that Luffy wanted you to come find him, and that he had something for you. With your new objective in mind, you made your way out of the hallway, now heading toward the place you knew heâd most likely be.
The figurehead, of course.
Authors note: I hope you liked it! I couldn't think of a believable way that reader could approach Law without crying honestly cause that what i would do when i realized i wanted to go confront a man that could take my heart out and kill me or whatever. I think it works though i'll update soon kisses xoxo i'll be moving through bigger sections of time soon i just need the exposition to get laid
Happy Lawsan Day!
Do you think luffy would find it funny/sexy for torao to dissect him to see how his devil fruit changes his internal structure?
I think luffy would find it ticklish for law to be poking around inside his ribcage.
