EDIT: @thehumanbeans made a Torah dressing game and it's so cute!!!!

A Torah mantle embroidered with pomegranates by Catherine Tutter (American) for Congregation Eitz Chayim עץ חיים (“Tree of Life”), completed in 2011. The central Tree of Life features thirteen pomegranates, twelve for the tribes of Israel and one for Dinah, Jacob and Leah's only daughter. Its seeds formed from 613 French knots for the mitzvot. Ten mother-of-pearl buttons evoke the sephirot, while eighteen leaves symbolize chai חי (“life”). Roots are anchored with sets of seven buttons for the days of creation, paired with willow leaves from the Four Species of Sukkot. A domed top, inspired by Sephardic tradition, glitters with sun, moon, and stars, flowing into Miriam’s Well stitched with forty lines of metallic thread. A ceremonial garment where every stitch holds meaning, crafted over years with the involvement of the community.
"Judaism is not a religion of blind obedience
There's something that really gets me about how the Torah is alive. A Torah scroll is buried when it's destroyed and can't be salvaged. People are as careful holding a Torah scroll as they are holding a baby. We dress our Torah scrolls in adorned cases or decorated robes. We celebrate it every year like it's its birthday. And the words of the Torah themselves are also alive. We constantly reread and recontextualize and reinterpret the Torah. The Torah is as alive as the Jewish people are.
Chag Sameach! Happy Simchat Torah!
What a joyous day to celebrate the endless cycle of the Torah. As we dance with the scrolls, we celebrate a story that never ends, a constant source of life and light.
Today especially, we are reminded of the incredible power of hope and the joy of a circle being made complete.
May our celebration be full of happiness and gratitude 🩵
