no concept or opinion on its own can "groom" a person. you were not groomed by proshipping. you were not groomed by cartoons. you were groomed by predators.
Stop the cycle of prosecuting an invisible intangible enemy because people enjoying cartoons and characters will never be the reason someone took advantage of you. they may have propped up the narrative that what they were doing with proshipping (and this is a generous assumption that many antis make about abusers using proship to groom) but again, i returned to my abuser repeatedly because my family was protestant and didn't let me have things like pokemon cards or videogames. are we going to blame pokemon for being a tool for groomers? or are we going to blame the system that irrationally fears evil, that prosecutes blindly on a conquest against the Devil, to the point where we silence the cries of the abused because they did something Bad, like enjoy something they shouldn't of? sounds familiar...
it's usually more because some people can't tell the difference between fiction and reality, a lack of empathy for others, that people get abused. that and victims being neglected in the first place, making them easy targets.
i will never again let myself be a toy in a dollhouse; i understand that's the purpose of fiction to explore ideas without ruining my or someone else's life. to understand lives that are not mine. this has always been and will always be the purpose of storytelling as a whole.
the fact that this is so contentious among not only users of this website as a whole, but in the abuse survivor narrative is really like, not beneficial!
i spent a lot of my life prosecuting my own thoughts, usually centered around the abuse i had experienced. now i simply curate them to become the best version of myself without being filled to the brim with puritan hatred. stop the self hatred and maybe u will heal idk! try it 🍵
