A Feteasca Neagra from a historic domain in Romania “Tohani areas have experienced a long history, documents attesting to the vineyard dating from 1773. Tohani wines are produced on the old estate belonging to Prince Nicholas of Romania, (King’s Carol II brother) who falls in love for Joan Dolette, an incredibly beautiful woman, but without noble ancestry. The two live intensely a love story against all prejudices of the times. Despite the restrictions imposed by rank, Prince Nicholas and John Dolette were married in secret on 28 October 1931 at the Church and the City of Tohani. By doing this, the Prince sacrificed all his royal rights, but John Dolette remained love of his life.” This is a clear, bright medium purple color wine with ruby hues and some tears on the glass. Clean on the nose with medium intensity aromas suggesting of dark cherry, cranberry, plum, strawberry jam, vanilla, chocolate and cloves. Fully developed. Dry on the palate with medium acidity, medium ripe and fine-grained tannins, medium alcohol, medium body and medium flavor intensity displaying dark cherry, cranberry, plum, strawberry jam, vanilla, cigar box and cloves. Medium length with sweet spices aftertaste. Good quality wine with balance between its components, some fruit concentration and complexity and medium length. Good to drink now, not intended for further ageing. Noroc!
