In the paleodictyon.. what you mean with " DNA tests have been performed" if is a fossil from the Cambrian?
Whatever creatures make these traces are still alive today. Apologies if my post wasn’t clear on that point.
The DNA that’s been tested comes from samples of modern-day Paleodictyon, collected from mid-ocean ridges. That’s what makes them so mysterious -- they’ve been creating hexagons on the seafloor for hundreds of millions of years, and even through they’re still living now we still can’t identify them!
Hi!!! where is the Science Blog on Tumblr list? I can't find it....
I removed it from my blog description because I’m no longer updating those lists. They were last updated in 2014. I am not updating them again (for various reasons).
They still do exist, so if you’d like to check them out here they are:

1. What’s your major/field?
I consider myself a molecular ecologist and evolutionary biologist. It sounds super broad, but I guess what I really do is use endocrinology (hormones and their pathways and physiology), and examine their role in mediating evolution.
2. Do you do field work? What kind?
Sadly, I’ve never yet done field work for my own work! I’ve helped out some peers with kangaroo and parrot projects, but my projects haven’t yet had any field work. Hopefully that changes during this PhD, I’m intending to do some work with native Australian fish which will get me out there!

can we have a marine-aquatic week? pleaseeeeeeee
Hey! Do you mean like a ocean/water-type Pokemon themed week? I could do that if you’d like :) They wouldn’t all be new IPP designs, I’ll reblog some older water-types that I’ve done, but yeah, I can do that! Expect it starting next Sunday with a new in-progress water-type Pokemon.
