Everything interrupts everything there's too much going on all of the time, the clothes on my skin feel disgusting I can feel the sweat on my skin and feel dirty even after I shower, there's food in my teeth a lump in my throat my hair is sticking to my everything

I'm tired but don't wanna sleep I'm hungry but the second I look at food I feel nauseous I'm itchy my back hurts my tongue hurts

There's too much noise there's too many colors there's too much stuff to see and hear and feel and think

I need to pee I need to drink water I need to fucking study and draw and ON AND ON.

TOO MUCH!!! TOO MUCH GOING ON ALL OF THE TIME I'M SO SICK OF IT!!! I just wanna live in the void where nothing exists and I can't look at stuff or hear stuff and not think I just wanna go blank like I didn't exist.

and then i got to thinking about dick grayson

and i got to thinking about his relationship with bruce, as messy and complicated and painful and loving as it is

in every universe, bruce hurts dick and in every universe, dick forgives him

but what if he didnt?

*ahem* imagine with me if you will

a villain, lets say lex luthor, gets tired of being constantly defeated and goes ‘imma do something about this’

he ends up inventing dimension travel and starts traveling

in one universe, he kills superman

the world mourns but moves on and other heroes defeat him

okay, not gonna work

he tries a different plan, a million different plans

he travels from universe to universe and he notices something

batman seems to be a tell, of sorts. if batman is good, then the justice league is normally good. if batman is evil, then the justice league is normally evil. huh. interesting…

then he takes notice of nightwing. the exception to the batman rule. he is always, without fail, *good*. so he kills nightwing.

the heroes go ballistic. he barely makes it out of there with his life. he can’t kill nightwing, so he decides to kill robin.

he’d already long since figured out the heroes’ identities, but any attempt to expose or take advantage of them didnt work out. but he already knew that bruce wayne was batman, that nightwing was dick grayson, etc.

so he kills dick grayson as robin.

another boy, black hair and blue eyes, takes his place. every. time.

he kills dick grayson at the circus. robin doesnt exist. batman was getting close to killing himself and the justice league didnt respect him enough to listen to his words. everything is going to plan.

except bruce wayne adopts dick grayson anyway. dick grayson had been turned into a talon.

he tried again. an assassin takes dicks body. deathstroke does. dick just wakes up in his grave. this boy will not. stay. dead.

killings off the table, apparently.

lex decides to try with their relationship. he pokes at it a bit here and a bit there. and suddenly, nightwing makes his appearance a year early and batmans next robin comes late.

*aha*, lex thinks, *that’s it!*

he sets to work doing his best to demolish their relationship from early on (think stewie from family guy fucking with peter and lois’s relationship). and it *works*. batman is isolated from the league, meaning the entire league is vulnerable. robin never becomes nightwing, vigilantism leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.

when batmans next robin dies young, its decided. vigilantism is officially declared illegal, too dangerous. all heroes are banned and any acts of repeated heroism (outside of jobs) broke the law.
