How To Make Crispy & Crunchy Onion Pakoda?
Pakoda is one of the most eaten evening snacks by Indian people. Onion Pakoda in particular is the widely made evening snack in every household. Onion Pakoda is widely known and sold hot along with tea in street shops throughout India. The recipe is also made in different styles in different parts of the country.
Crunchy, brownish, and delicious Onion Pakoda would be the best snack with hot tea on a rainy afternoon. This has what made the recipe a popular snack during winter season.
Onion Pakoda can be eaten with delicious variety of tangy and spicy chutneys too, although many eat it plain. With these crunchy pieces inside the mouth, one would feel that the best form of onion can only be found in this recipe.
Onion Pakoda has a wonderful flavor by being crunchy outside and soft inside. Onion Pakoda can be the best food for small tea parties, get togethers, monsoon outings, for a game or movie night. Onion Pakoda is east to prepare at home and can be done in the way you like. Onions can be cut into rings or sliced thin as you wish. However, thinly sliced onions are crispier than round shaped ones. Always try to use red onions for making Pakoda. Here’s the recipe of delicious Onion Pakoda made in Sundew Refined Sunflower Oil:
Onion PakodaIngredients
3 red onions
2 tsp salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp finely chopped ginger
2 tsp finely chopped coriander leaves
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
¼ tsp asafetida
1 cup gram flour
2 tbsp rice flour
2 tbsp Sundew Refined Sunflower Oil
Water
⅛ tsp turmeric powder
1 pinch baking soda
1 tsp chaat masala powder
Sundew Refined Sunflower Oil for deep frying
Method
Peel and thinly slice the onions.
Now mix together the onions, salt, red chilli powder, ginger, coriander, green chilli and asafetida in a large bowl.
Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
Now take gram flour, rice flour and oil in another bowl. Mix well.
Add turmeric powder, baking soda and 2-3 tbsp water to make the batter.
Heat Sundew Refined Sunflower Oil for deep frying.
Once the oil is hot, drop small pakodas in the oil and fry until it becomes golden brown and crispy.
Then drain on a plate lined with tissues.
Finally sprinkle chaat masala on top.
Enjoy the delicious Onion Pakoda with hot coffee or tea.
