Doc had never been a party person. He was a snack person though- so he made his ultra-brief, ten minute appearance so stuff his stomach with cake and load his pockets with mixed nuts before heading out. He hadn’t even put forth any effort in his appearance. His hair was unbrushed and he was wearing his uniform trousers and shirt. At least it was tucked in?
He headed out the front entrance when he bumped- literally bumped- into a person. “Oh- hi- ‘m sorry about that? I should have been paying attention.” He was trying to ignore the cashews that had fallen out of his pocket. “-Yeah, sorry.”
Since she got to the Great Hall, Lily spent a fair bit of time enjoying the sheer beauty of it that evening. As soon as more students began to flow in however, her eyes began searching for her friends but with most students having their masks on, it wasn’t easy to guess who was who. She picked up a drink which she didn’t know was spiked from a nearby table, not that it would have stopped her, taking a sip as she spoke to the taller boy who stood not too far from her. “I didn’t realize a simple mask could make such a difference.” she said, offering him a small smile before her gaze went above his head, eyes widening. She leaned forwards and grabbed him forcefully by his arm and towards her side, moving back as much as possible from where they stood in the few precious seconds. Peeves dropped a few coloured water balloons from above them, which fell and burst not too far from where they stood. “Before she could say anything, Filch had appeared and the Poltergeist whizzed away, merrily singing some of his exquisite poetry. “That was close.” she said with an exasperated shake of her head.

“Lily what do you think? I sort of actually hated this dress that dad’s girlfriend bought but the top was brill so I’ve cut off the top, burned the bottom, and I- think I like the skirt with it? Maybe? Or maybe the purple?”

This whole event was much different than anything his mother had ever put on. Which also meant that Rod could drink as much as he wanted to, or could leave at any time he wanted to. He could swear as loudly as he wanted to, kiss as many girls as he wanted to. Rod was a free man at these types of things. Well, Rod was a somewhat drunk man right now. But even that, nor a mask, could stop him from recognizing the other man who approached the drink table. How could he not? It was Tom fuckin’ Vanderbilt. Weird hair. Weird nose. Faded tan. Nice smile. Great ass- annoyingly taller than himself.
“Heyyyyyy look-,” There wasn’t anyone standing by him to look. He wasn’t talking to anyone. “It’s my bestest friend, Tom. Tom. It’s been at least 12 hours. How ya doin Mate? V’missed you.”

“Chesterrrrrr,” Dorcas, half dressed in her outfit, still with her pajama bottoms on, entered the boy’s dorm. She’d been going back in forth for the last hour- but it had been fifteen minutes since she had last checked in. Spotting her true other half happily sitting on the struggle bus, she said, “How’s it coming- ahhhhh. Where’s your comb?”

Dorcas was gone. How was she supposed to recognize Chester, or Lily, or one of the other few people who gave two shits about her while everyone had masks on? Especially if she was- not the most sober person in the room. She scanned the room for any sort of familiarity when she bumped into another- who she would likely recognize had she not been this far gone. “Oi- hiiiii. Sorry about that.” She looked up at him, she placed her arms on his shoulders. “I’m looking for my friends. Everyone’s got masks on and I’m having the time of my life trying to find them. I’m sorry about bumping into you like that.”
