Mentos: Word matching craziness, and Talking Points again.

Weird Orange Guy: But, uh, no slideshows this time. I’ve been told there were slideshows in the 7th pack.

Mentos: …(taps her spinal cord to her “face”) Do you have a name?

Weird Orange Guy: It was either Todd or Jim. That vortex did a NUMBER.

Ester: Toddjim?

Toddjim: That works. Who’s Jerri?

Mentos: Time traveler.

Toddjim: What do they look like?

Mentos: (doesn’t look up from her notes) Normal.

Ester is visiting his parents.

Mentos is putting on her first show where SHE’s suggesting to her dad what to make the other brains think (as a treat for being 18).

Jerri is vibing with the other yeardos for a special “holy crap, we made it” edition of Time Jinx.

Raffle and Nuphar are hunting for the biggest bird on the island to try and emulate the feel of a Christmas turkey.

Ester and Varrick, just freshly finished! I tried to give Varrick a clergyman energy (which is why I kept the white eyes), and the halo and wings were just for fun.

It looked to be another not-so-normal day of traveling through space and time for our old friend, Jerri Rig Sewatt (or, as she was known then, Dr. Bel).

At one point, their helmet and other various gadgetry ended up bringing them to a cozy, gray-walled basement. The shelves were packed with unfamiliar knickknacks. The stairs in the corner led up to a door that wasn’t connected to a house on the outside, but at least the sidewalk was good for morning stretches. And back inside, the dryer was very comfy. ;D

After taking many a “day off” in this basement (mostly comprised of dryer naps), Dr. Sewatt got a little bored. Sure, she could come back to her mentor’s place for Time Jinx games, and she could go anywhere and when she wanted in between, but…

…Dr. Sewatt was getting lonely. She wanted friends who wouldn’t always be too busy with experiments to call and ask how she was doing (unless she was injured or something). Was that too much to ask?

After mulling it over, they decided to roll the dice on their devices’ coordinates and open a few random portals, just to see if anything or anyone cool would come out.

From one, a plant that moved like a squid and spoke like a caveman.

From another, some sort of spray-painted golf tee with @ symbols for eyes.

From another, just a floating brain in a jar.

And from the fourth, a DRAGON with a t-shirt on.

Confusion, a bit of chaos, and some minor yelling before everyone realized the portals were still open and they could totally go back home.

And then the fifth portal spit a bunch of space junk into the room.

So technically, the DecaPack’s first hangout was as a cleanup crew! And then, Dr. Sewatt gave them tech watches to come back whenever they wanted.

It’s called Crusades of the Deca-Pack or COTDP and it follows the little fuckers pictured below

Ampersand “Amp” Lyshu, gibberish-speaking text creature who’s one out of a baker’s dozen in its family, and one in a million as far as its playful heart is concerned (13 yrs old, it/its; from Fixy Text)

Ester Anchard, big-hearted dragon who loves shirts and living on an island, and kinda hates the talking ring he’s saddled with (24 yrs old, he/they; from TKO2)

Raffle Tesand, caveman-speaking plant who’s always hungry and ALWAYS short-fused (forgot my canon age for them, they/them; from Dodo Re Mi)

Also included in “random shit I added for fun” (this is not an exhaustive list, just everything I could think of right before getting about 5.5 hours of sleep in an actual bed and the rest in a Transit rumbling northward):

• The Jack head is its own character, his name is Jackbox or Jack and the rest of his wonderfully weird body is scattered around the world in various games’ locales (his left leg, for instance, is with The Wheel of Enormous Proportions). He’s an embodiment of humor and uses his tears of laughter as crystals to grant games to the people and creatures he takes a liking to, but he’s kind to basically everyone.

• Mayonnaise, the cat from Split the Room, and Professor Nanners, the chimp from Nonsensory, are a soon-to-be couple (they haven’t actually met yet, but the idea of them going on dates has been in my head for a while).

• Cookie Masterson is a cosmic clock-headed entity of chaos and falsehoods who just happens to act like a burnt-out 50-some dude. He does disguise himself as a human on occasion, but it doesn’t mean he’s any weaker.

• Binjpipe is an evil corporation (sorta like Amazon meets Lumon from Severance) instead of an evil AI, and the “creepy voice” is the CEO, Ms. Davis. They think they have way more of a leash on Cookie than they actually do (yes, this means that Escape the Simulation isn’t canon to my fic bc why the fuck would you want to put Cookie through that shit D:).

• My version of Master Mentalist is named Coper Dypoland (pronounced like “Copper”) and he does have a physical body, except he’s SUPER tall and thin and his skin looks like it’s made out of stars, and he can also turn into a blob of energy at will.

• Rue Meringue from Roomerang and the host from Blather Round (who I call Strayna) are sisters and patchwork their games together sometimes.
