baby is having seasonal allergies, snuggling up in their bed with stuffies under their weighted blanket. they roll over in the cotton sheets and mewl softly, eyes shut and watery, tears running down their poor cheeks. their squeeze their eyes and suck in a snotty, unsatisfying breath through their nose. "mrrff..." little one mutters out, feeling more and more frustrated. they don't feel good! they spit out their paci and let out a whine for their caregiver to come make it all better.
rushing in, their caregiver stops just before the bed and tilts their head at the feeble mess before them. "aww, poor muffin," they start, kneeling down. they rest their head in front of their baby, meeting their eyes and giving a soft smile. "are the flowers making you sick today, sweetheart?"
baby grumbles, pushing their upper body up with their arms. "m-mean fuh-lowers..." the regressor mutters out before coughing. their caregiver is quick to scoop them up in their arms, leaning over to fawn at the pitiful sight. they run their hands carefully over baby's delicate head. "oh, my sweet little thing," they put a finger to your eyelashes and swipe away a tear. "you must feel so yucky inside today, huh?"
"m-hm... m-make it go away-y, please?" baby tosses themself onto their carer's tummy and rubs their red nose against the soft fabric of caregiver's shirt.
caregiver wraps their arms around baby's torso and lifts them upright. "poor sick muffin," their expression softens as they examine baby's features. their pink and puffy eyelids, their chapped red nose, their pouting lip. all of it is too much for the little one to bare on their own. carer pulls them into a hug, running their hand up and down the regressor's back. "yes, i will make it all better. i promise."
they shift their legs off the bed, carrying their little one against them as the pair head to the medicine cabinet. they pause before leaving the room. "let's pick out a stuffie to bring with us, hm?" they bend over at the waist to allow baby's arms to stretch towards their favorite plush, grasping it with meek hands and starting to pull it up. "ah-ah, you're much too little for that," carer coos as they pluck the stuffie from baby's reach and delicately tuck it between the little one's arms. "there we go, muffin, all safe," they say with a pat of baby's head, turning on their heel out the bedroom door. "c'mon, let's get you some medicine. you're gonna feel all better~"
