Whoops, a few days late but luckily in the Catholic tradition it’s still Easter season. Alleluia! Behold the Butter Lamb. The butter lamb is a traditional butter sculpture that accompanies the Easter meal for many Russian, Slovenian and Polish Catholics (or any Buffalonian). Growing up we always had a butter lamb on Easter— thanks to Malczewski’s Butter Lambs (and subsequently other knock offs) for keeping the tradition alive! After moving away I have missed this tradition— turns out if you ask for Butter Lambs in the South they have no idea what you are talking about 🙄! The butter lamb symbolizes Jesus’s sacrifice as the Lamb of God. Why butter? Because its the most ubiquitous ingredient in any meal! One year my aunt bought us a 20lb butter lamb... and needless to say we had butter for a while. I hope everyone enjoyed Easter, with family, friends (at least virtually) and the rich traditions of our ancestors! - - - #butterlamb #miniature #minimaker #miniaturist #miniatureart #miniart #miniatureartist #tinythings #itsthelittlethings #etsy #handmade #polymerclay #clayart #tinyart #collectible #supportsmallbusiness #supportart #ilovetinythings #tinyeverything #buffalony #polishtraditions #happyeaster #LambofGod #easter #tinyfood #tinybutterlamb https://www.instagram.com/p/B_BdRuShEEh/?igshid=upzzdmjdxfp
