Update on the dirt time fun saga!
Tiny plants in tiny pots :3
Previous dirt saga post
They survived the water test without crumbling or going soft so they are fully cooked! (Or whatever the proper term is)
I did also put beeswax on these to hopefully make them a little bit less porous. I did this by heating up the sculptures in the toaster oven slowly to about 300f over around 20mins while melting some beeswax inside a jar in a pot full of water on the stove.
Once everything was nice and warm I poured the liquid beeswax on them trying to make sure I covered everything, especially the insides. I rubbed some more on as they were cooling down and then put them back into the toaster oven and slowly heated them up again.
I was careful to make an aluminum foil tray under them so as not to make a mess with wax in the oven but there wasn't even a puddle when they were done! The heat sucked all the liquid wax into clay!
While I am disappointed with how much I blackened the clay in the fire process (I think this is from them getting buried in the embers and not being exposed to enough oxygen), it DOES actually look really nice with bright green leaves!
Kinda has a lava rock vibe to them!
Plants in order of appearance (all peperomia), String of Turtles, No fucking Clue, Beetle.
