nadine really didn't mind staying up with him, though, they could not deny that it was making them miss red bull quite a lot. they've got plenty of drugs sitting in various pockets of their bag, but none of it is the kind they really miss: shitty, terrible energy drinks.

"yeah, well, is a test flight important? because if it is, i can figure out a way. like uh, we could blame the test flight on me. i've already been disowned by just about everyone in town, so no problems there." they don't seem to have any problems with yawning, but they are stretching out every limb they can. sitting for too long might just kill them one day.

bright young kids don't intimidate you as much as they seem to intimidate a lot of the other teachers at hawkins high, with whom everything comes across as some sort of power struggle. a dynamic like that is something you find wildly disinteresting; truthfully, you don't have the disposition. you're too warm for it, and kids have a nose for inauthenticity. more than that, you see promise in them, echoes of yourself every time you see someone sitting at your old desk or using your old textbook. none of that just goes away just because a teenager starts acting like a teenager.

verne is very bright. up until a few weeks ago, he was also one of your more engaging students. it's been so easy to identify with him since the semester started, in really rewarded ways and ... less good ways. the glassy eye'd withdraw pinched over a bloody nose. the growing pains particular to these years when everyone starts finding somewhere to fit in : everyone except for you. the really amazing thing about kids is all the promise. they can be anything, but that unfortunately means they can also be cruel.

Nadine does love chaos, but even they have an energy limit. So the second that they get anywhere close to a chair, they quickly decide it is time to sit down. They are lucky, actually, that the thing doesn’t immediately fall over with the way they practically fling themself into it.

“Cool lab.” They finally comment once they feel up to it, glancing over to Emmett with a tired grin. The stupid best they had put on is removed, since there is now no reason to hide their Gwar band shirt. Plus, it looked stupid anyways.

“I brought coffee.”

Austin moves through the other’s house as if he has memorized it. He’s been here plenty of times, so it makes sense. The smile on his face only brightens when he actually comes across the other, already deep in his work.

It wasn't like anything I had ever seen before. There was this sudden flash of light across Nueva York's rain-soaked night sky, so bright that I couldn't help but look away, blinded. At first, I thought it would've been a flash of lightning, but no sound of thunder followed. When my eyes could finally open, I could see the car heading downward, out of the skyline, and onto Downtown's streets, fast. "Good Lord!"

Car accidents aren't common Uptown, since everyone's cars tend to drive themselves these days. The way this guy was moving, he was out of control, crashing into a hefty pile of Downtown trash. Thank the Lord. Zipping down to the street level, I find the car covered in ice, of all things. Crazy considering how intense the heat radiating off this thing was just a moment ago.

The house is a mess, which is kind of always true, but it’s worse than usual. This is not the lived in clutter that Forrest has, but chaos. It will need to be cleaned at some point, but he hasn’t gotten to that point. No, he’s managed to get himself sitting at the dining room table. And he managed to call Emmett.
