unlike most people her age, the only time josie could really escape from her house was when she snuck out to go to work. she had snuck out for other things like the occasional burger at freddy’s and as much as she was done trying to appease her parents, their conditioning to make her feel guilt no matter what she did was something that was a bit harder to unlearn. so even though most people would view this as somewhat of a monotonous job, josie viewed it as the closest thing she had to freedom. walking into high volume was like a breath of fresh air for the teenager.
so while everyone else was a little jaded by this time of the day, josie was always in high spirits. at least she wasn’t wasting away in her room, counting how many mistakes she made in her life instead of sheep to try to fall asleep. when a song she particularly liked came on the radio, she turned it up a bit and started dancing as she put away records. she grabbed tilly’s hand and said, “come on, dance with me. putting away records is so much for fun this way!”
