a husband. it’s something he never thought he would be. he’d once thought that marriage would be something constricting and yet here he stands, happier than ever to be married. his mood is roaring high, his smile has been settled on his face from the moment he’d risen from bed that morning. he doesn’t even care if people had been unnerved by how untraditional the ceremony had been, the combination of both a wedding of the old gods and a wedding of the lord of light something he himself wasn’t used to. he could care less, though. all he cares about the happiness that flows through him. his gaze is set on his wife across the room, cup raising to his lips for another quick sip of wine before he addressed whoever was beside him. “she’s truly the most beautiful woman in the world.”

‘   I tell them to bring me news,   and they have brought only lies!  ‘   The chuckle is low and steady,   but it brings a colder edge to the man’s words as he shifts his stance.    The people tending the grounds below him are swarming like flies,   and he leans against the balcony’s beam to watch.   Tongue slips along his bottom lip before it hides back in his mouth,   his teeth gnashing together with a snap as his jaw works in a half-circle before continuing.    His head angles slightly towards the guest behind him,    words murmured over his shoulder,   not quite expecting an answer.   They all speak to ghosts one way or another,  his descent into madness was just a bit earlier than most.   ‘   Ah,   I must do everything myself.   Is that the lesson?  ‘ 

it’s a festive event, two dornish weddings, people dressed their best, food and drinks abundant, and two happy couples he has the pleasure of knowing. oberyn has made an effort to remain on his best behavior, even going as far as to dress down for the occasion. it’s a rare showing of self control, something many assume he couldn’t possibly possess. as oberyn watches the dance floor, surprisingly without a partner for himself, he can’t help but focus on the swirl of emotions inside of him. his eyes are drawn to alyse and ryon, the way they watch one another and the love you could practically feel rolling right off of them, and then to natari and trystan, gods his brother is a lucky man. it’s everything he’s ever wanted for his siblings, to marry for love. “they look so happy, don’t they?” he finds himself musing out loud to the nearest person to him.

          PLEASE    “    DON’T    LOOK    AT    ME.    ”    SHE    WHISPERED,    VOICE    BREAKING    as    tears    began    to    pool    at    the    corner    of    her    eyes.    she    herself    averted    the    other’s    gaze    as    they    entered    the    room.    she    would’ve    slid    under    the    blankets,    hugged    her    knees    and    shrunk    into    a    little    ball    had    it    not    been    for    the    pain    in    her    ribs    or    the    fatigue    that    forced    her    to    lie    lame    and    unmoving.   “    i’m    hideous.    ”   @thronesstarters​​
