Went to my first solo flea market today. It was just our local one that they have weekly.
I didnât take much, clothes and a few Knick knacks.
I also didnât really make any money. I did cover my fees and fuel though so that was great.
For the future I want to get some better inventory. So I really need to get on top of my crocheting and sewing activities. And I really want to be able to do home baked goods and things like that but I am terrible about doing last minute prep.
I think I am going to start doing this every Sunday. Maybe that will motivate me and get my creative juices flowing to kick out some projects.
Any suggestions on things that would do well at flea markets???
Some thoughts on money
One of my goals for this year was to get a better grip on how I spend my money. I was a bit too indulgent earlier, and while I donât regret buying the stuff I bought, it did leave a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. I mean, thereâs nothing wrong with having things or spending money on yourself, but there is something to be said about being responsible about it.
So, since Iâve come to a crossroads regarding some purchases, I thought Iâd share some thoughts about spending money and maybe share some things Iâve learned in the process.
âI wantâ and âI needâ are not the same statement.
Something we really need to remember is that wants and needs are completely different creatures. When we need something, itâs required for us to live. But, when we want something, we feel that it would be nice to use or have it, but our life doesnât depend on it. We need things like medications, food, shelter, and clean air and water. We want things like toys, electronics, movies, music, fancy cars, and haircuts. What we want can overlap with what we need; for example, we can want pizza, which also fulfills our need for food. But we can fulfill our need for food with all sorts of things; we donât need to eat pizza.
Donât confuse your wants for needs, or vice versa.
Are you trying to solve a problem? If so, does buying something actually fix it?
We want things for a number of reasons. In my current situation, Iâve run into a slight set back with some artistic projects. Iâm not yet skilled enough to make the assets I want, so my options are to either find an asset I already own that can work (if imperfectly), or I can purchase a new asset to use.
After searching the usual stores, I didnât find anyone selling an asset like the one I want. This means that Iâd need to compromise with whatever asset I use. In the end, I found an asset I already own that more or less works. Thus, no purchase was made.
Is it worth the price to you now?
Now, while I resolved the problem with that one asset, there are other things Iâd like to purchase. But, are they really worth buying at this moment?
Currently, I have several things going at once. Itâs unlikely that Iâd get around to using these other things in the near future, none of them are the sort of things that will go out of stock, and none of them are currently on sale. On the other hand, some of them are very likely to go on sale at some point, so not only is there no harm in waiting for the price to drop, thereâs something to gain from waiting.
These three points arenât much, but they do illustrate a few ways to keep yourself in check and your money in the bank.

Religion helpfully frames thriftiness as a value and lifelong pursuit, rather than an aesthetic, lifestyle fad, or occasional choice contingent on the trends of pop culture.
Sophia Maggio writes that frugality is trendy to some right now, but perhaps it's something that should be guided by something deeper

#upbeatauthors â Thriftiness â The Infamous Cookie Platters
Some people look at thriftiness as being cheap, or not valuing the person on the receiving end of that thrift. Far too many people believe that the value of a relationship can be measured by the financial value of gifts exchanged.
I disagree. I would ratherâŚ
