I think they're gonna open with Eddie heavily in the avoidance stage of processing Chris being gone. He's switched up his appearance, he's trying to become a new person rather than ruminating on the old one (much like Buck with his different versions).
We'll probably open with him acting weirdly fine... like the team are obviously concerned with this. I think he's gonna have all this tension and frustration pent up and he'll start to break by snapping at people trying to push him a little, like Buck or Bobby.
And then a call will happen where a kid is involved or something, and he'll be back home to an empty house, and sit in Chris's room and break. Though actually I'm not sure on that, because we've seen Eddie break in that way before so idk if they'd go back to it, so I think he might snap in a different way?
Either way, silly Mr Repression is gonna be back in Frank's office very soon.

If I was any good at writing prose I’d write an avatrice semi wings of desire au fic where Ava as an angel falls for bea and falls for life and decides to become human. I think it would fit so well with ava’s character. Spain instead of Berlin eh? Ava wouldn’t just become human for bea, but to have the ability to feel. After witnessing life for so long she’d want to be a part of it. To drink black coffee and get a massage all the way to her fingertips and take a bath and see colour and bleed and blast Nick Cave and the bad seeds. Colombo would of course make an appearance. Maybe I should do it???
If I were in charge of some based-on-scraps-of-Tolkien-texts big production, it’d start with—okay, I know it’s eminently predictable, but at maximum self-indulgence:
There’d be these sort of jerky snippets of, like ... a storm at sea, then glimpses of a staggeringly magnificent city, then apparently peaceful hills / forests / a mountain, then holy shit that’s not a storm that’s a tsunami, then general chaos and screaming, flashes of a beautifully-dressed woman struggling to climb the mountain, wait it’s not a tsunami either, it’s bigger, people who aren’t running are just staring up at this supermassive dark wave in terror, it starts to crash down at them, and then Faramir wakes up.
It’s a little before LOTR and it’s not all about him—he emerges and immediately Boromir joins him, and Beregond and Denethor would show up pretty quickly. We’d get Gandalf no more than a few episodes in. In any case, it’s really about the shadow of Númenor and Gondor generally through the War of the Ring. Maybe it intersects with canon LOTR more bc it’s more broadly about the Dúnedain, so we get Northern Dúnedain stuff and more specifically Aragorn stuff interspersed with Gondor stuff—this big sweeping thing.
But the core focus is the legacy of Númenor in Middle-earth and that’s the framework through which we see even canon events and decide on which details to include. Maybe it wouldn’t even be wholly linear and there’d be bits of e.g. Cirion and Eorl, the Kinstrife, the fall of Arthedain. But it’d be this sort of tilt of the camera angle so like ... Tolkien says the text doesn’t really show what an ordeal Boromir’s journey to Rivendell was, but this would!
The other idea I had was that we’d start off earlier (in a manner of speaking) and initially focus on Aragorn. (No, the Pod People have not taken me over.) Maybe it’d even begin with the young Aragorn of “The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen.” In any case, it quickly moves to Aragorn-as-Thorongil heading to Gondor and then the focus widens to include Denethor, Finduilas, Ecthelion, etc and the first phase of the story is that dynamic. Aragorn disappears once he has his great victory and there’s some sort of artsy transition from tiny Boromir to hulking adult Boromir in armour or something that leads into the present.Â
The other-other idea I had was that it’s even more sweeping and just like. Gondor: The Series and we see ALL THE THINGS from the Last Alliance on (imagine a decent, UT-informed take on Isildur ...). I think it’d be harder to make that work with a revolving cast and such, but it might be really cool if you could make it work.
But I’m honestly really attached to the Faramir beginning—jumping straight into Númenor feelings/weirdness and the weight of history and just running with them as the main thing instead of downplaying them as distractions.
They need lungs and a voice to scream, what do you think they do when their lungs can't take all that screaming? They get new ones, and I don't know if you know, but they definitely weren't willingly donated
