They still loathe each other, often times blaming the other for Flux’s death. Thomas hated Saps for killing Flux in the colosseum, and Saps hated Thomas for letting Flux march to his death. It’s mutual loathing, but Saps often finds himself checking on Thomas’ room each night to make sure the latter didn’t leave, and Thomas finds himself inching closer to Saps whenever there’s even a hint of danger.

Saps sees Thomas like an escapism. Thomas knew parts of Flux that Saps couldn’t even get a glimpse of. He shared secrets and stories that would’ve been buried alive if he had turned himself in. By stopping Thomas, by forcing him to live on, perhaps Saps would have a chance of tasting Flux once more.

Thomas on the other hand, knew that he was never the priority in Flux’s life. Fuck—He wasn’t even the second. Thomas is well aware of who truly earned that title. And if that same person had refused to let him die, if it truly was his fate to keep on living in a world without his architect, then it’s only fair for him to stay as a loyal dog by protecting Saps.

It’s not fair. None of it is. “Hate” couldn’t even describe their feelings. They both knew damn well they wanted nothing more than to slit the other’s throat, anything to get them out of this miserable loop, but they didn’t. They couldn’t.

So they kept on living. They kept on going in hopes that they will one day get a glimpse of that purple-eyed male once more.
