11 months after the activation trip, my vacation (again for a long weekend) took me to San Francisco. This time I flew alone to see less the tourist things, rather learn how the people live there. Other than to New York I did not book through the travel agency and 2 months before the trip. The flight fromDüsseldorf via Paris and Minneapolis and only back via Paris cost around 500 euros. The changeover time of 2 hours in Paris is far too short, due to all the security checks. But one knows this only after one has gone through this once. In Minneapolis, my luggage was handed out like with all other passengers of my flight and we had to return it after another security check. It was also estimated that 2 hours would be spent here. This was also very tight, so I was just in time for the boarding at the gate of my connecting flight to SanFrancisco.
My luck was that my hotel was exactly where one part of the city ends and another begins so I could see how it can happen from one month to the next to sit on the street and have nothing left (it was the turn of the month). But neighboring places were also on the agenda this time. In contrast to NewYork, the architecture is quite different. There were some diners in town I went to. Every morning a different one and on the last day at the best then. There were some strange things to eat and drink, such as cola with chocolate.
Well, my case isn't exactly, but if you don't try, you don't know. What was good about it was green Tabasco on the omelet. I then stocked up with a few bottles before I left. Here in Germany, there are these also, however, only in the miniature execution. During the sightseeing tour, I saw a delicious restaurant, which I also tested in one evening.
The “The Stinking Rose" a restaurant where the food and drinks had garlic as an ingredient except for the typical soft drinks, but that didn't surprise me after the chocolate cola. I couldn't hear any complaints about unpleasant smells, especially since I flew home again the next day. A visit to San Francisco is definitely worthwhile but longer than 5 days and without a car not so recommendable because then one also runs out of ideas.
