It's Six Sentence Sunday and I've more stuff written!! First, some more of my Doctor Who story, in which the God of Beginnings and the God of Endings begin working together to try and roll back the worst damage of the FLux - but first they have to sort out the damage to other universes before sealing up the leaks again.
The work is painstakingly tedious, after a while.
Some of the holes in spacetime aren’t too bad, the universes or dimensions on the other side barely affected at all, but others…others have taken a hit – sometimes even their resident forces/gods/fundamentals/ancient aliens (those that have such things, after all) can’t fix them on their own so many times it ends up being a group effort. They weld timelines back together, restore star systems, halt interplanetary wars, save several versions of the same planet, prevent untimely ends to the universes.
It’s not always so dramatic, sometimes only affecting individuals, but it doesn’t make them any less important to sort out—
None of it is easy and sometimes… sometimes the changes have already become fixed points. Other times, he manages to find some kind of leeway – saves a family from disaster, knocks an asteroid off course in order to spare a tiny lunar station, prevents an astronaut from being vaporized in a ship malfunction (one she originally managed to escape using an emergency pod) by ensuring she’s only dimensionally displaced, confident that those who love her will find a way to get her back.
If the Toymaker hadn't already been defeated by the Doctor the Oldest One would definitely be after him for the sheer mess he's caused just because he decided to have fun with the timelines and unleash Time because he could, and he hasn't even found out about The Timeless Child business yet.
Next up, a MCU fic that is an unexpected sequel to 'and so (our family grows)', my Loki/Sigyn/Angrboda modern AU, set around a year or so afterwards, this time adding someone else into the mix - Theoric, in the comics Sigyn's original lover (killed off by Loki) but obviously nothing so dramatic happens here XD he was just a security guard at their university back in the day who was friendly (if not outright friends with them), with something of a crush on Loki that obviously never went anywhere, but after the revelation that Loki was adopted they all moved away and he's not seen any of them for ages.
So he's more than a little surprised when the man shows up again out of nowhere.
“Loki?” What on Earth…?
But it was definitely him – there was no mistaking those raven locks, those mesmerising green eyes, that tall, regal gait as he came striding towards him, the dark woollen longcoat and emerald scarf just enhancing it. It had been ages since he’d last seen the man, but he’d recognise him anywhere and he looked…
Good. Confident. Much more assured of himself than he’d been at university, and apparently genuinely pleased to see him, judging by the fond smile he was sending his way.
“I thought it was you.” He said as he got closer. “How long’s it been, ten years? Eleven?”
“Thirteen.” Theoric corrected, still in shock at seeing his old sort-of-friend suddenly appear. “It’s been thirteen years.”
Turns out it's not exactly happenstance - the events of the last story means Loki's been thinking quite a lot about what could have been, and he's not going to let Theoric become yet another regret, platonically or otherwise, so he's making the effort to reconnect.
