She began intentionally causing trouble, manipulating people for her own gain, sneaking around, and stealing. Her only real shield was Quincy Halloway, a boy around her age with an endlessly positive energy. Quincy had a habit of taking lonesome kids under his wing, and the two connected instantly. He was the first person to see who she truly was. Health issues, like scoliosis also forced Theadora to undergo multiple surgeries, leaving her traumatized, with a chronic, dull pain that made her constantly seek out softer beds and better living conditions. This forced her to drop a lot of activities she really enjoyed, making her mother push her even further to do better.

When things felt like they couldn't get any worse, tragedy struck in her teenage years when she overheard a argument between her parents. Her father finally stood up for her against her mother's "re-education" plans, but the fight escalated, which resulted in her father's accidental death. Officially, no one knew who had done it. Elizabeth didn't even mourn, instead, she blamed Theadora for playing a role in it and tried to "step up" as a parent. She offered Theadora a second chance, but the girl knew what that really meant, complete control and further brainwashing.

Part of Theadora died with her father that night. Any remaining sympathy or emotion she had left simply vanished. To make matters worse, Quincy's parents who had seen Theadora as their own, began seeing her as a bad influence on their son, separating the two friends. His parents didn't hold a grudge against her, they just wanted their bright, promising boy to stay focused. Theadora roamed the halls like an empty shell until the Vault administration, influenced by her mother, declared a "Resource Shortage." Theadora immediately saw through it. It was just an excuse to purge the Vault's "misfits" and start fresh. She wasn't shocked when the Overseer called her name first. She took it proudly, giving her mother one last glaring look before packing her things.

The real shock was that Quincy’s name was called too. His parents were devastated, unable to understand what went wrong. But Quincy reassured them he’d have a better chance to thrive outside. The young man took the exile as a point of pride, genuinely excited to finally see the outside world alongside his friend. With a map in hand and a few vault supplies, Quincy guided them toward New Vegas. Theadora quickly learned she had terrible luck at the casino, so she stopped playing fair. Using her charm, she lured high-rollers into secluded spots or hotel rooms, offering "services" under any new persona or making threats before robbing them blind. While Quincy disapprovingly looked for honest repair work to fund their travels, Theadora was having a blast feeling free and alive. She was the brains and the blade, he was the heart.

Life was good, but Theadora's reckless lifestyle caught up with her. After milking the scam too hard, a heavy bounty was placed on her head, and every gambler in Vegas recognized her face. Scrambling to escape, she barely survived a run-in with a bounty-hunting courier, whom she managed to bribe. The courier told her to never return to Vegas and advised her to head toward Goodsprings instead. After spending weeks grinding to survive, she snuck back onto the Strip in a disguise to reunite with Quincy, who was simply relieved to see her alive. Leaving Vegas behind, they hit the wastes together.

By 2262, they arrived in the ruins of Washington, D.C. Mid-travel, they were caught in the middle of a Super Mutant attack, only to be saved when a patrol of Brotherhood of Steel Paladins in Power Armor, effortlessly wiped out the threat. Quincy was instantly awestruck, developing a deep, lifelong admiration for the Brotherhood's mission, while Theadora just rolled her eyes.

Eventually, they settled in Megaton. They were taken in by Danielle Jones, a former raider, who offered to house them in her shack, til they could afford their own. While Quincy worked for Lucas Simms, Theadora, started hating the town's filth and living conditions. The only highlight of her current life was how deeply fond of Danielle's genuine kindness, she had gotten. The other woman even shared her things, like clothes and accessories with her, leading to a new sensual relationship that allowed Theadora to explore her identity in ways she never had before.

Then, barely a year into living there came a new, mysterious figure in a suit. Mr. Burke arrived at Moriarty’s Saloon while everyone else was busy that day, except for Theadora, who was at the bar with nothing better to do. Burke saw her and took his opportunity. After all, he needed a mercenary for his plans, but Theadora saw right through him.

Yet, out of curiosity she still decided to hear him out. He spoke of his plans and a promise of a "better world" to mankind, where life would be more comfortable and stable. This would win her over instantly. It was similar to what her mother and vault had spoken about for years, but different in all the right ways. Burke was like her parents, but in the proper way they should have behaved. 

Over the next few days, their business talk turned personal. Although Theadora originally seduced him to get information and keep an eye on him to protect Megaton, for the sake of her friends only. Burke ended up making a lasting impression on her. At first, when she mentioned having local connections, Burke was ready to leave it at that. But she quickly proved to be far more valuable when she revealed her Vault background, offering to do business with him and his associates down the line, even if it meant wiping out everyone in her old vault for the sake of them purely gaining resources. Thoroughly charmed, Burke accepted her offer before taking his leave. When he started sending her love letters, she couldn't bring herself to ignore them, and it wasn't long before she began writing back.

When Quincy noticed a shift in her behavior, he knew Danielle wasn't the reason behind it. It didn't take long for him to find Burke’s love letters hidden in their shared shack, along with the horrifying plan for his "better world" a plan to detonate the town’s bomb and wipe out everyone standing in his way. The fallout between the two friends that night was catastrophic. It was the first time Quincy had ever truly snapped at her, and in response, a defensive Theadora lashed out, accusing him of only working so hard just so he could abandon her for the Brotherhood. Not because he wanted to support them both, feeling like a nuisance ever since they got out. The two now feeling deeply hurt by each other, makes Theadora pack a bag on impulse and flee into the night toward the then under-construction Tenpenny Tower to reunite with her new lover.
