we are all self-consoling in one way or another, but there is such a thing as toxic positivity, s/t I heard recently where s/o tells us everything is going to be okay when nothing has improved, this in turn makes us obsessed with the problem || i.e. we see this played out from ppl who are transactional in their exchange with others, they "help" with the explicit intention of clout & gaining a reputation as an influencer which they will monetize thru pay walls later. They can deny it by framing it as a thing of the past, they used to choose to participate in certain projects for money, but in actuality they are still doing it. This is evident in what we defend & why, me I point out how flawed capitalism is, NOT how great it is
