#30DaysOfAnimation Day 12 Made this little clip with my mentee today using one of our puppets. Behind the scenes are in the stories. I think I've improved somewhat as a stop motion animator. The last time I did this type of animation was for my student film Deliverance - which was based on the time I got kidnapped and hijacked in a Cape Town taxi in 2014. #30DaysOfAnimation Day 7 Catch up post. I've been mentoring/teaching a young budding animator, aged 10, this year on Fridays and Saturdays. I don't post about it very often 🤷🏾‍♀️. We have been working on her first animated film "The Friendly Monster". I've been teaching her about the process of animation as we make progress on her production. Correction she says it's OUR production! #TeamWork Today I was thumbnailing (because I love thumbnails) scenes from the script to continue with the storyboard. Never thought I'd be teaching so soon after school. Having this opportunity always makes me thankful to God. I always come out refreshed from each lesson because I'm able to pour out my love for animation into someone who is willing to receive it ❤. It's a stop motion film btw. Obviously because she's ten she can't do everything yet so I always aim to finish one aspect of the film each lesson and then I supplement the rest in my own time at home. So we'll finish one character design, a background/layout, one aspect of the script or one puppet etc... each lesson. We treat this thing like a proper production with its own script, concept art, shot list, budget, materials list etc... in its own production file. It's funny while I've been teaching her about animation I've actually been learning. I've been learning how to produce and manage an animated production and my own understanding of animation principles is growing.
