“Musa Motha”children’s book illustration 2019/2020

We were approached by a non-profit organization to illustrate two children’s book for them in late 2019/early 2020. One was about the incredible South African dancer - Musa Motha and his journey of becoming a professional dancer after having a major leg amputation surgery as a young boy.

The book was really fun to work on and a welcome pause between animated projects and I’m just now remembering to share it online.

Application Error

An ongoing series of back-handed pep talks for the times technology lets us down.

This is for all the times software crashes, programs lag, updates break projects, minimum PC specs just don't cut it and all-nighters have to be pulled to make up for all of it 😩 🙆🏾‍♀️ 🤷🏾‍♀️. Last year, in September, I had a day like that where my editing program kept crashing after 15/20 minutes of editing. I started imagining the constant error messages as backhanded pep-talks. Made the little interruptions less frustrating. That's all! I update this series when I have some free time!

I’m making a webcomic in my spare time...

The earliest version of this idea predates the founding of Cabblow Studios. Imagine high school Cabblow day dreaming about a sci-fi/christian animated series and fast forward 10 years and I finally took the leap of faith and decided to upload the comic to Webtoons. (Yes, I said sci-fi/christian comic...You didn’t misread).

I feel terrified. Is this what God wants me to do or am I just forcing something to happen? I don’t know.

Either way this poster came out nicely. I am happy with it and I’ll be updating the comic whenever I have time for it. Could be monthly, could be weekly. Could be very sporadic or very frequent. When there’s an update I’ll let you know.

Character Sketches & Exploration for a recent client project.

Client: Healthforce

Project: Create an animated video explaining showcasing the brand unique telemedicine offering.

The idea was to take 3 different characters and scenarios and show how convenient and simple it was to use the Healthforce service/system to access nurse-run clinics in pharmacies all over South Africa. The client’s main user demographic is women (of varying middle to high earning professions) who often have school-age or adult age families. I chose to create 3 female characters and develop a stoy for each one. Eventually we ended up changing the third character - Lisa - into a male, but I’m still really satisfied with the result.
