Started roughing out today. Some sculptors love this stage. Not me. Always super nervous that (although I have literally done this thousands of times before) this time, the connection won’t happen. This is my starting point. The first stage is a delicate process. To put the gilded pieces in a box with a couple of hard boiled eggs. The sulphur will begin to slightly discolour the silver. This process will only work on genuine silver. Not on aluminium Dutch Metal Leaf. Then the colours in the patina will guide the decoration. In my mind I can already see it but I will allow myself to take detours.
