ÂŤ A lâaide ! Dipper ! Stan !

*checks watch* Nope, still not over @the-subpar-ghostâs Drifting Stars fic. Seriously though, if you havenât read it, go. Now. Drop everything youâre doing. Donât even finish reading this post their fic is AMAZING! While waiting for the next chapter, I decided to go ahead and dump some doodles I drew for it.
Took me a few days but I cranked out this for one of my favorite fics. The scene is from Chapter 1 of @the-subpar-ghost 's Drifting Stars AU. One of the coolest AUs out there in my opinion
Alrighty, so here's another little drabble for the-subpar-ghost's au Drifting Stars.
Basic gist is that Ford and Mabel are still visiting the gems and Steven and they're having a lot of fun with them. Ford and Mabel walk up towards the lighthouse to watch the New Year's fireworks and that's when Ford talks to Mabel about a decision he's come to involving her welfare.
Lots of feels and fluff up ahead.
Mabel rushed forward climbing the first beam of the fence as she looked over the cliff at the town below. âWow!â She said with awe as the summer sunset gleamed, its final rays casting the clouds and ocean with stunning shades of pink, purple, and gold. âWhat an awesome view! You can see everything.â
Ford looked out at the town, spotting nearly every place he could name from where they were. âYeah you can.â He leaned over the banister and soaked in the scene for another minute before looking down at the girl beside him. Well, he may as well get this over with. He swallowed and took a deep breath trying to steady his heart while he began in a serious tone. âMabel⌠Iâd like to talk to you about something. And Iâd like to talk to you as an adult if I could.
The girl looked up at him, surprised but entirely focused now. âOkay.â She said warily.
He decided to proceed with a happier thought. âYouâve made some really close friends here. Connie and Steven and the gems.â
She seemed to relax a little with that. âYeah everyoneâs been great. Itâs much nicer here than some of the other places weâve been to.â
âYes it is. So youâyou like it here, right?â
âYeah. Iâll be sad when we have to leave.â
âMaybe⌠you donât have to.â
âHuh?â
Now time for the hard part. âHow would you feel about staying here from now on?â
Mabel looked at him with large brown eyes filled with an expression he couldnât identify. âYou mean⌠forever?â
âYes.â
She went silent, turning back to the view as she wrestled with the idea. Ford took her silence as a good sign. Least she didnât dash the plan immediately.
âPart of me really wants to,â she said her gaze getting sad and thoughtful. âBut⌠what about Dipper? And Stan and Soos and my parents? What about all of them? Do we just give up on them?â
Ford sighed. âMabel, thereâs an infinite number of dimensions. We could search literally forever and never find home again. I donât want that life for you.â
âCan I ask something?â She said in a timid voice. âIf I werenât here right nowâif I werenât with you, would you stay?â Ford was silent for that but before he could answer she went on apologetically. âIâm sorry, that wasnât a fair question.â
âThe thing is, though,â he began cutting off her train of thought as he answered her, âI wouldnât stay either way.â
âWhat?â
âYouâve seen the many enemies Iâve made, Mabel.â He explained. âThey can follow me even through other dimensions. Youâve been put into harmâs way because of me before and Iâd never be able to live with myself if you were hurt or worse if it ever happened again.â
âSo youâd⌠leave me here?â
âIâd make arrangements.â He said immediately, attempting to explain it in a way that didnât seem so harsh. âYouâd be safe and fully provided for, surrounded by friends and loved ones and be allowed to grow up happy and healthy withââ
âNo!â She said cutting him off before heâd finished. She faced him entirely, her legs set in a firm stance and her arms braced at her sides and balled into tight fists. Her face was angry with set resolve, though her eyes sparkled with fear and hurtful tears. âNo, youâyou canât leave me here, alright. I-I wonât stay here while you go off and risk your life trudging through wilderness and facing bad guys and monsters alone, okay!â She choked on the last word as if that idea were more unbearable than anything else she could have been faced with.
âMabelâŚâ Ford tried gently, reaching a hand out to calm her.
âIs it⌠is it because Iâm boring you?â She asked in a small frightened voice.
âNo!â Ford said immediately, dropping to one knee and putting his hands on her shoulders, firm but gentle. âNo, of course not!â
âThen why would you want to just leave me behind? Iâd never see you again if that happened and youâre all I got.â Her voice choked on the last part and the tears sheâd been trying to keep at bay, fell at last.
The sight of her with such an expression tugged painfully at his heart and he began in a tight voice. âI donât want to leave you, not at all. Truthfully, Iâve gotten so used to you, Mabel. Being on my own again⌠I donât want to live that way anymore, but I have to think about whatâs best for you, despite what I may want.â
Mabel was quite for a moment, but gave him a watery smile when he finished explaining. âWhatâs possibly better than being with my uncle fighting and overcoming whatever comes our way together?â
Her words stunned him for a moment, before he too gave her a gentle smile. âNot much I guess.â
There was a short moment of silence before Mabel leaned over and enfolded his shoulders in a hug of which Ford returned wholeheartedly.
âI know you want to do whatâs best for me and I donât blame you for that,â She whispered against him, âbut how would you feel if I stayed here and you kept wandering dimensions and then⌠through some small chance you did make it back home and I wasnât with you. Would you be able to live then?â
He didnât need any thought to figure out how that would make him feel. âNo. I most certainly wouldnât.â
âEven if we never do make it back, I donât want to stay here thinking âwhat ifâ for the rest of my life and always wondering what happened to my uncle. Who wants to live like that?â
Her words hit something in Ford and there was an enormous pang of regret that grew inside him for ever considering leaving her behind.

Part 3 for the Drabble idea I have for Pearl Author Drifting Stars sort of thing I got going on.
Part 1 Part 2
Ford and Mabel are talking about what happened between him and Pearl when he left.
So I heard it was @the-subpar-ghost's birthday a few days ago and I realized I haven't made any art for her work of art lately so here's this and I hope you had a wonderful birthday.
Here's another drabble for the PearlAuthor Drifting Stars idea I've got going on.
part 1 of the drabble is here
Part 3
It was late, the other gems had stopped work hours ago to allow Mabel and Steven to sleep, but Pearl and Ford were still working; swapping blueprint designs, making adjustments and tinkering on small projects that were promised not to cause too much ruckus.
As they fitted together some engine parts their hands touched and for a moment their eyes met in a deep intense gaze. The tension between them was so thick you couldâve cut it with a knife. Years of discovery, discussions, arguments, and simple moments bridged the distance between them drawing the two of them closer as their faces neared one another.
Pearlâs heart rose in her throat as her eyes instinctively closed and waited for the moment their lips would meet. It was only a whisper of contact before Ford pulled away, cheeks blazing red and a new expression taking over his features.
âIâm sorry.â He announced instantly. âBut I canât do this. Not since⌠not since last time.â
Pearl looked at him and saw that he was now guardedâangry, the ghost of a hurtful memory etched upon his features. She knew what memory it was and took a step back, mindful to give him space.
âIâm⌠Iâm sorry.â She said lamely finding sudden interest in the dirt floor of the barn.
âSorry?â Ford said, turning back to her. âSorry for what? Sorry that you pushed me away? That I left? Or sorry that Iâm back?â
âSorry for everything. The way things ended between us mostly. I justâŚâ
He turned away, keeping his back to her as he strode out. âI donât want to do this right now. We have more important things to work on.â There was a great level of cold in that statement and his body language. A cold sheâd never seen in him before.
