The world burned back to life in sharp relief.
The dream.
The room.
Cold cement. Projections of unreachable places on the walls. Chrome and green machinery in a configuration meant to contain.
It looked larger on the screen.
Maybe it was how small the figure held prisoner inside it was.

Flashpoint: The reason Barry wants to undo it isn't because he's not the hero, but because the reality state he created is genuinely worse
Barry knelt on the nothing that was the floor of the speedforce. It felt like the rug stained with his mother’s blood. It felt like the rocky cliff that was all that remained of a destroyed continent.
“Why?” he asked.
Why what? Was the only answer, with a voice he hated to hear was his own, reverberating in his mind, and yet foreign.
“Why did you do all this? How did fixing one thing do all this damage?”
Your mother’s life is a big thing
“Not big enough to make a good woman become a bloodthirsty monster.”
She grieves a dead son.
“Not enough to make all of Europe destroy each other.”
Is that not Europe’s nature?
“It’s not Diana’s. And she’s older than my mother, and she never even met my mother in-- in this timeline, or that timeline, whatever. There’s no connection. Not with Bruce either. Or that dead king.
Brion. Supplies the voice. There is no connection. Do you see how many suffer when you cannot be satisfied?
“That’s not fair.”
It is not. I am not.
“Eobard Thawne killed her, she was never supposed to die then.”
For the you that is, she was.
“Then why let us travel in time at all? If time is really supposed to happen, if it really matters that much, then it should--it should make things happen. No matter who tries to change it, it should just fill in the gaps, not--not this. This isn’t power, it’s--petty.”
I am not Time. Go and yell at it.
“You’re the one that makes the rules.”
I am not. I am just here. And you are just here. And this is the way that time will be, unless you change it back.
“So millions of people die. My friends get tortured, and I can’t do anything.”
Neither can you do nothing. That is why you chose yourself.
Wally going through puberty and having a horrible time and the speedforce is there like “burn down the world kiddo or save it, we’ll be behind you either way,” like I just think about Wally and his speedforce connection and how it’s the worse best thing to happen to him. He just experienced the world weirdly, cause he didn’t always have these powers but they’ve been with him his whole life.
NO BECAUSE LITERALLY
having lightning strike the same place twice, giving him these gifts, his experiment shouldn't have worked but it did. and that's the kicker! it worked, the speedforce chose to give him these powers and suddenly wally's entire world is different and it's never going to be the same again.
sort of like a careful what you wish for situation except it's overall a net positive. i can't imagine what being a tween to teen is like with superspeed, having all these insane emotionals and you're constantly in turmoil even if you have no reason to be. everything turned up to eleven type stuff.
and yeah! the speedforce has always been with him, always been watching him and waiting for the chance to make contact. like a weird alien thing.
Somebody on YT mentioned the fact that there is a gap between Iris and Nora and that the producers maybe edited someone out, so that we won’t be spoiled by a special appearance?

What we ask of you (you already gave) - Flash fanfic 1/1, Barry & the Speedforce
Title: What we ask of you (you already gave) 1/1
Author: Purpleyin
Rating: General
Word count: 300
Summary: Speedforce!POV, based on general feels about 6x07 and the Speedforce and this post. Because I feel like I need to headcanon to deal with how bad the Speedforce has been to Barry over the seasons (something about it sort of reminds me of how the wormhole entities struggled to understand Sisko’s linear existence in DS9?)
Spoilers: Nothing specific but generally S2/3 and S6 feels.
Warnings: Speedforce being an uncaring entity, but not deliberately in the same way people would be. Unbetaed and liable to be on the poetic side of prose. Also inspiration from Thom Yorke - Suspirium which I listened to on repeat while writing this.
On AO3 here, and FF.net here.
---
There are so many faces they wear. So many ways to appeal to those they need. No one person is the Speedforce. Everyone lives, everyone dies. Some stay longer, some shine brighter no matter how short their time intersects with Barry Allen's. It's always hard to judge who matters, and why, when so little differs in the big picture. They try combinations, finding who is right in some instances, not in others. Simulating responses.
No one time is more meaningful than another. Every conversation carrys a weight hard to bear – a force that is amplified by motion through a timeline they see the entirety of - and they cannot judge what is enough, too much, or just so at a single point. This person matters, as a whole, a discrete unit – that person will set him off in a direction, but when it works is harder to pinpoint.
Each time the Speedforce tries, they watch carefully, see a new face they cannot fully understand. Because Barry's reaction is never the same, no matter who they call upon. Every choice they make creates something they can't fathom until afterwards. One Barry makes the right choice, one makes another.
They recognize patterns, but all they see is effectiveness. Not impact, past what works. They see the whole, the flow of this to that, the symmetry so desired. They see what is best without caring how. More anger isn't a problem. unless it tugs at the negative Speedforce. More sadness has a utility up until a line crossed where he will not budge. They ask and ask and it is never too much. Until that moment he breaks and is torn asunder, unexpected, a deviation incalculable. It falls apart. Moment by moment, and instantaneously. Then they understand fear, all at once.
And Hands down, the best episodes by far. Barry losing to Bloodwork because he wants to survive the Crisis and Oliver losing Quentin over and over, because deep down he wants to survive the Crisis.
Damn, those were some serious goosebumps. And that cliffhanger? Specially on Flash...
