Jason prefers his spaceβ¦you also prefer his space but thankfully he doesnβt seem to mind much

βItβs creepy when you do that, you knowβ
Your eyes narrow through your mask, seemingly rendering yourself from out of the dark that surrounds the rooftop on Gotham nights and you stroll over to the ledge where you can see civilians walk up and down the streets below, reminding you of small ants on pavement.
βI finally found youβ
βWasnβt hidingβ
βIt didnβt really seem like it. Took me an hour to find your hide outβ He hasnβt looked at you yet, solely focused on hovering over the ledge, eyes examining the narrow lanes from afar and you ignore Jasonβs lack of interest in you.
βDoesnβt matter, I told you I wanted to be aloneβ
βAt the risk of being slightly annoying, I thought today we could be alone together.β
You canβt help the crinkle of your nose when the wind blows and the smell of soot travels through the air. βI can see why you come here to think though, itβs quiteβ
βNot quite enoughβ you fain hurt and place your free hand over your heart.
βAnd here I came all this way to check up on youβ
βYou checked. Iβm fine. Now you can goβ you roll your eyes at his flat tone.
βYouβre acting pretty harsh towards someone who got you a birthday presentβ Jason does what must have been an eye roll from under his helmet and he looks at you with his glowing white eyes.
βItβs not my birthdayβ
βNo butβ¦this is the same day we first met after you came backβ¦β
βFrom the deadβ Jason finishes what you didnβt βno need to sugar coat it.β You bring your hand from behind your back to reveal a cupcake with white frosting and a small candle stuck in the center.
βYouβre jokingβ
βNot even a littleβ Jason scoffs βmake a wishβ
βThe candles not even litβ
βI didnβt want to get candle wax on itβ your eyebrows furrow and you hurriedly grab the candle out of the cupcake. βThis isnβt the only reason I came here though. Bruce thought you would have stopped by yesterday, so did I.β
βRight. Because there is something special about having dinner on Sundaysβ
βIt isnβt about the foodβ
βI was busyβ he lies βbesides, why the hell would I want to be around them when theyβre all moppy? They always get like that this time of yearβ
βThey just care, like I doβ
βI donβt need a lecture from youβ
Your brows draw closer together βI wasnβt lecturing justβ¦making a remark. Though if I was going to lecture you Iβd start off by saying Iβd want someone there for me if I was going through shit because Iβm smart enough to know when I canβt deal with it on my ownβ
Jason gives you another eye roll βYeah, youβve said that beforeβ
βAnd arenβt you lucky to have me?β
βLucky. Yeah.β Jason says sarcastically, nudging you with his arm. βAre you going to sit or just stand there?β You smile under your mask and plop down on the edge, dangling your feet over and mimicking Jasonβs own position. βBut you have got to stop talkingβ
βI can do thatβ you look down βitβsββ Jason holds a hand up, silently telling you to shut up βI was just going to say itβs not that bad up hereβ
βPlease stop talkingβ
You groan and through the silence you can hear distant police sirens zipping down the streets below and itβs been all of five minutes before Jason hears the familiarity of your voice again.
βThis is the alleyway where you met Bruce, right? Heard theyβre tearing this building downβ
βYeah, they areβ you nudge Jason back and offer up the cupcake and he takes it.
βSentimentalβ you say
βOh shut up. Youβre one to talk βcupcakeβ
βYou shut up. You own me 7 dollars for that by the wayβ Jason laughs and in all of one big bite the cupcake is gone
βYeah rightβ
βββ
This was inspired by that one scene with dick and jason on the rooftop in ak if you couldnβt tell.
This was a bit short, hope you enjoyed thoππ½
