In January, I met him for the first time.

in February, he told me something along the lines of "Don't worry, I'll hear you." (For those who need context, I am deaf and need hearing aids.) And I thought he was an asshole

In April, me and Nat found out that he didn't know what ASL was, after he asked why we were waving our hands around

In May, I found out that he somehow straight up missed the fact that I am deaf and thought my hearing aids were com's devices

In June, I discovered that he was neurodivergent and genuinely couldn't tell if what he was saying would be rude or not till after it left his mouth, or I called him out on it

in July I watched fucking Batman stop Superman from taking off, give him meta earplugs and headphones make Superman go back at least 4 football fields before taking off, and yet, the poor basted that is daredevil was still nearly taken out for the count by the ensuring sonic boom.

Steve, slightly horrified: I nearly let you drive a tank

Clint, responding in slight concern: Hey buddy, yeah, what the *fuck* does this mean.

I admit I don't know much about j.j.j. but he seems like the kind of person to look at that kind of privacy invasion and immediately start bashing Fisk for it,

Matt huffed a laugh, tilting his head in a way that would probably freak out a normal person/human/civilian,

"Soldier, huh? That's a big goal for someone your age. Hell, I was a prodigy, and I didn't graduate till I was about 13-14."

"<exactly! I shall be the best! I shall be even better than you, Blind Devil!>"

"Hah, what you want the mantle after Little old me?"

"<I shall take it if you have no use for it>"

Matt grinned at the 6 year old in front of him, the kids accent still slipping through even after nearly a year of being with The Chaste and speaking their secret language,

"Alright, but if you want it, you're probably going to have to fight for it, though that will probably happen when you're older, or not at all, now come on, we gotta go, can't stay somewhere like this for to long, we gotta go back to base, Ok kiddo?"

"<ay ay captain!>"

Willson watched as the footage of the 'fight' - if it could even be called that - between the devil and the child play again, the devil dancing around the young boys attempts at attacking him as an older sibling would do when playing with a younger sibling,

...the behavior was strange, as was the language the boy was speaking in, the devil clearly knew it as well, but Willson could not identify it other than sounding vaguely Japanese, and fact the boy had no reaction to the devil's less than human attributes,

But none of that was what struck the deepest cord with in Willson, no,

"Soldier, huh? That's a big goal for someone your age. Hell, I was a prodigy, and I didn't graduate till I was about 13-14."

That. Willson did not like the implications of that.

Matt didn't know why he started talking about it

Maybe it was boredom

Maybe it was because it was getting closer to that day again

But he figured, if he was going to tell anyone, it was going to be Frank

matching marks, first conversation, starts with the full conversation (? Am I wording that right?) of the other persons words and fades to the important/impactful phrases (<- is that right)

Matt's mark: lower back

Matt's words: right wrist/arm written in braille

Phrases: "I'd like to speak to the man in the mask, please." "You kill the Russian, and we'll call the night a push. "

Fisk's mark: neck

Fisk's words: "Who is this?" "I'm gonna find you...and I'm gonna make you pay for what you've done."

+an altered season 3 so that Fisk doesn't know/find out Matt's identity (can you tell I haven't watched it yet? 🙃)

Leo bolted through the sewers, terrified and hoping beyond hope that he was going in the right direction,

The foot soldier following him was still there, and they were getting closer

Leo didn't have senses dialed up to 11, couldn't tell if he was actually in the right place or just imagining it, but he hoped, he prayed

Leo didn't have enough breath in order to yell for him, but he called anyway.

"I call to the man without fear and ask for help, I call to the man in the mask and I ask for help, I call to the red man and I ask for help, I call to the devil of Hell's Kitchen and I ask for help."

Leo didn't know if it would work, didn't know if he could hear him, but he was running out of breath and he desperately hoped.

"please."

"please, please, please help me"

something screeched and sounded like it dropped down somewhere up ahead, and Leo prayed that it wasn't another foot member,

"Don't be the foot. Don't be the foot. Don't be the foot. Please don't be the foot."

He should have known it would happen. He was out of breath and flagging. He shouldn't have been surprised, but still, the moment he tripped, he was, and he was scared

Leo brought his arms up and covered his head, and curled into the fetal position when he hit the ground.

He didn't look up, not until he heard a crash and something splash into the water.

Leo peeked out from under his arm and froze at the sight that greeted him,

The man without fear is a fucking understatement.

the red man was holding the foot soldier by their chest, his teeth beard in a snarl

"I'm gonna tell you this once, I ever find you chasing down terrified kids in me city again, I'm gonna make you wish that I would kill you, alright asshole?"

The foot soldier coughed, then sneered and spat:

"What are you threatening me for? The mutants over the-"

The foot soldier didn't get a chance to finish. The red man slammed them down and held them under the water for several seconds and growled when he brought them up again

"Try and use that as an excuse again and see what happens."

the realization hit Leo like a truck

he's still defending me.

"Your still defending me."

the red man looked up at him and seemed to...soften almost.

"Of course I am."

The words were soft, and Leo pushed the emotions that brought back down

The red man -leo is just gonna call him 'red' for sort- looked back at the foot soldier and raised his fist in preparation to hit the foot soldier,

They started laughing

"You are an idiot, you have chosen your side, and now..."

They stared up at him and grinned

"The Foot Clan will come for you."

The red man shrugged

"Doubt there worse than The Hand."

And knocked them out

Leo took a deep breath and rolled over, then sat up

"Holy shit."

The red man stood and waded over to the lift,

"Language."

Leo looked at the man as he pulled himself out of the dirty water

"holy shit, you came."

The red man gave him a strange look

"Course I did, I protect people."

Leo blinked

"I'm not- People?"

"No, you're a kid, which I also protect."

"No what-, what I mean is I'm a mutant."

Red just shrugged

"and a kid. I protect kids, mutant or not."

Leo blinked again

"Oh"

Red offered him a hand

"You got somewhere to stay kid?"

Leo took the offer and frowned, letting himself be pulled up

"No, they know about the lair now, and I can't risk April or Casey by going to them."

The red man tilled his head

"If you need, I can offer a place to stay."

Leo blinked, "really?"

"Why not? It's too empty nowadays anyway."

"OK, as long as you're OK with it."

the red man smiled

"follow me, we'll switch into the tunnels and go up the entrance there."

By which I mean this

• Mike is a mutant

• he was found while in the orphanage and brought to the school/X mansion, kinda

• the way Mike was found was one of the nuns found out that he was a mutant and reported him to the friends of humanity group

• Luckily, Logan got to him first and brought him to the X mansion/school

• Matt is also a mutant

• he was not

• he was training with stick when Mike was discovered, and after he gave him the bracelet stick decided to go with him back to the orphanage cause he had to talk to the nuns anyway

• when they got back and Mike didn't come running right to Matt, Stick noticed something was wrong, and talking to the nun who greeted them only confirmed that

• As soon as he learned that Mike got 'taken away for the safety of Matthew and the other children' due to being a mutant, he immediately changed direction from 'stop training Matty' to 'get Matty outta there' and asked if it was possible for him to foster him

• this resulted in the Chaste eventually discovering that Matt is the Blind Devil

In short:

Mike gets found family and therapy for his trauma
