Ecclesiastes 9:4 (NET) - But whoever is among the living has hope; a live dog is better than a dead lion.
So I know very little abt loz lore but what if Goron’s carve their children out of stone? Like they put in the energy and time to really build them (kinda like in Greek mythology humans were formed from clay) and maybe there’s a special ritual to imbue life! And because it’s done by one sole person they kind of give a piece of themselves to the child in a way (maybe even break off a piece of their own rock to form the heart?) and THATS how Daruk passes his power on to Yunobo
I love this idea! (especially the nonbinary part because let’s face it, Daruk’s gender is just a really good meal) Considering the relationships between Gorons are so weird, like...we know the can have actual brothers and grandsons, but they also call everyone brother...it’s weird.
I like the idea that they use their own rocks for rituals, although rather than the heart, I like the interpretation that it’s actual this part of their outer shell. You could see that the backs of the Goron children are roughly the same size as one rock from an older Goron.
There has to be a further reason why the Gorons stick around on Death Mountain, and since the Eldin region is home to interesting places (including a cavern that forms rock meat) if only there was some region in the Eldin that could me interpreted to have some sort of sacred and/or religious value based on the construction surrounding it also perhaps is shown to not be that actively used considering most of the Goron kids are the same age so that means no one is having any brothers lately gee I wonder if such a place that also has thematic relevance exists OH WAIT
Babam! May I present the summit of Death Mountain. Has no real use other than being Rudania’s penthouse, along with the occasional ritual sacrifice of a cucco if you’re bored. Complete with a fancy, bridge (etched with the Champion Daruk, perhaps relating to a cycle of life, considering he’s kinda dead?) and a winding, impractical road that could give the ascent up Mount Olympus a run for its money. But perhaps the purpose of the road isn’t just for travels sake, but the sentiment of travelling so far to gain a loved one? Hmmmmm
Also, timeline wise there are no new babies in Goron City by the time Link strolls around. Why?
“Because Nintendo didn’t want to create that many character models?”
nO PFTT. Obviously not, obviously it’s because the Gorons couldn’t do their ritual to have a Goron kid even if they wanted to, because Vah Rudania was shaking things up.
So basically, Goron families work like
Travel up Mount Olympus Death Mountain through and arduous trek
“This family dynamic empty...YEET” *Goron rock splashes into the lava*
Wait for your new family member to finish cooking in the oven (perhaps you needed to preheat it wait for a certain sacred time in the year before hand?)
Now you have a son, who you can also call your brother because they’re basically you, since you used your own rock thing to make them, so maybe brother and son and interchangeable terms in the Goron world and also it’s probably like anon said where it doesn’t really have a gendered connotation to them but hey it’s not like you care because you’re a Goron and the only terms you care about are smashing heads and rock roasting
But THAT’s just a theory. A half-baked theory through the help of anon. Catchy, I know.
I look back much more negatively on the boring teachers I’ve had than the mean ones tbh
more ~petting pleasure~ than a Funk? idk if i can handle that. . .

For the Drabble challenge, I choose Number 1 :)
For Jess, for the prompt, “The skirt is supposed to be this short.”
I hope this is okay for you, Jess! I’m not quite sure what it was supposed to be, LOL! But I hope you like it. (And, yes, it’s too long for a Drabble so let’s just go with a ficlet instead. Hey, it’s me. When have you ever known me to be able to keep it short and sweet? Look, I’ve already turned this little dedication into a ramble. And just look at that title.) :-)
The Case of Sherlock Holmes and the Shockingly Short Skirt (“Really, John? That title’s far too long.” "Unlike that skirt, eh, Sherlock?”)
The air was tense in 221B Baker Street. No one quite knew how to address the elephant in the room, Sherlock observed.
Mrs. Hudson was clearly torn between motherly concern (he could practically hear her thinking, ‘She’ll catch her death dressed like that.’) and her natural feminist leanings (‘You wear what you like, my dear. To hell with everyone else.’).
Lestrade was gaping like a goldfish, mouth opening and closing uselessly. (No change there then, Sherlock thought but refrained from saying. John’s influence really had worn off on him.)
And John? John didn’t know where to look. (Wrong! John knew exactly where to look, but he was with Sherlock now and disinclined to ogle other people in front of him. Sherlock appreciated the effort, smiling slightly to himself as John seemed to find something fascinating on the ceiling.)
“Is it just me or is it a bit chilly in here?” the elephant finally piped up.
Mrs. Hudson clucked and shook her head, eyeing the garment causing all the consternation.
“Perhaps, Molly,” Sherlock began drily, “your new look is the problem, not the ambient temperature of the room.”
“My new look?” Molly enquired.
“The skirt!” Sherlock blurted out, throwing both hands in front of him to gesticulate wildly at the offending item.
“That’s not a skirt, that’s a belt,” John muttered under his breath, receiving a glare from Molly for his troubles.
“It is rather short, dear,” Mrs. Hudson offered. “I mean, it’s very pretty and everything, but, like I said…”
“It’s rather short,” Molly finished for her.
“Well,… yes.”
“The skirt is supposed to be this short,” Molly said quietly. “My old look wasn’t working for me, and…”
“I always thought you looked very nice,” Lestrade ventured, managing to pick his tongue up off the floor long enough to form a coherent sentence.
Molly shot him a shy smile before continuing. “Well, Irena, the new doctor at Bart’s, said I have great legs and I shouldn’t be afraid to show them off.”
“She’s not wrong,” Lestrade spoke up again, before looking shocked at his own forwardness, causing Sherlock to roll his eyes.
“Irena?” John prodded.
“Oh, yes!” Molly replied, her features lighting up. “She’s wonderful. She has such presence. Always cool under pressure. So commanding…” she trailed off, mind clearly drifting elsewhere.
“Oh, and she’s from Poland! Did I mention?” she added, coming back down to Earth.
“Poland, eh?” Sherlock pondered. “Rather fitting, I suppose.”
“It is?” Molly frowned. “How so?”
“Well, if that skirt were any shorter, we’d be able to see Kraków…”
