In an alternate universe where D-16 had injured his leg in the fight with Sentinel instead of his arm, resulting Dee not being fast enough to catch Orion before he fell.

Pax falls to his death and D-16 is consumed by grief and guilt, because D is never given the opportunity to catch Pax and their for is never given the chance to feel betrayed by him.

Because D never gets the opportunity to think about why Pax would choose to get himself killed to save Sentimental. (I don’t actually think that Pax was trying to save Sentinel but was actually trying to save D from himself).

D-16 is actually relived when Pax returns as Optimus Prime because in the reality where D doesn’t catch Pax in time he’s just glad to have Orion Pax back. Whilst D might not be too thrilled at the idea Orion Pax becoming Optimus Prime he’s far more excepting of the Prime title going to Pax.

Also in the reality where D doesn’t catch him Pax never feels betrayed when D drops him so their isn’t a reason for him to become depressed and serious so Optimus still keeps his Orion Pax curiosity and charm.

D-16 shows a little bit of anger in his expression after Orion tells him that he almost died on his most recent trip to the archives.

Megatron/D-16 becoming obsessed with the idea of cloning , power and bringing back the dead.

Megatron/D-16 is obsessed with these specific things not really because he wants to create an army of clones and undead soldiers but because he wants to revive Orion Pax the friend who is still dead in his eyes due to his guilty conscience.

Just imagine Megatron/D-16 trying to rebuild Orion Pax the way that he remembers him all the while he’s being haunted by the ghost of Orion Pax that Megatron/D-16 created in his mind to keep him company but also to taunt him.

Due to the fact that Megatron/D-16 guilty conscience creating a ghost of Orion Pax to haunt him Megatron/D-16 do not see Optimism Prime as the real Orion Pax.

Also just imagine an entire clone army of failed Orion Pax bodies.
