This got me thinking.  

To be honest I would say that I use a script to do my initial sweep of exploratory testing.  Let me be clear - my definition of a script is:  Something I use as a reference to carry out testing. So this is my process:

Discuss with dev and PO the upcoming work.  Tickets are then generated for this upcoming work - these are usually some sort of business facing ticket with the dev tasks.  I will add a list of things I want to check to make sure there is no knock on and any tests I think the new piece of software should go through. 

This to me is a script.  I've created it before I've done my exploratory testing.  So to me I'm able to create a script before I even start.  However if you're referencing scripted testing as an accumulation of all previous tests I've one of those too, it's called my regression test script and yes this has to be done after exploratory testing as it's literally step by step through each section.  

So maybe it does all boil down to definition and unfortunately this is all a tad difficult to articulate on twitter without sounding like an ass really.  So I gave up when I reached the third tweet, I wasn't going to get my point across or my understanding of the word script. 

Another fine example of why clarifying definition before you start your work is important! Or before you start a conversation for that matter.  As a tester you should always know your context and be open to new information that might change the context.
