"Hair Love” Studio Six Point Harness Announces Two New Projects
Short film “Skin Deep” and an untitled 2D-animated series, both pictured above, are in development, according to Kidscreen.com this April.
Following the Oscar success of theatrical short film “Hair Love,” Six Point Harness is tackling another Black-led story close to the heart of its creator. “Skin Deep” explores actor/author Terrence Terrell’s childhood and the discrimination of colorism experienced in the Black community.
“[‘Skin Deep’ is] about a young boy’s experience with prejudice, how he deals with it, and how his family helps him understand that his skin is beautiful,” Creative director Musa ('moo-say') Booker told Kidscreen.
Terrell will also pen a companion book to the short, which will be directed by Anthony Hemingway.
Their second project is a family-focused animated series, something the Los Angeles animation studio has plenty of experience with in their nearly 20-year animation journey so far. Most recently, you can enjoy their work in Netflix’s “Waffles + Mochi,” which launched this year with host Michelle Obama, and the Disney+ show “The Legend of the Three Caballeros.”
Brooker and his writing partner Joe Pontillo will helm the adventure-comedy, which is aimed for children 7-14.
