Just wanted to say, oshi no ko manga might have had many writing flaws in the end but Ai Hoshino was an amazing character.
I love how she had this huge presence in the whole manga or anime despite being dead. It is hard to write a character like that who died early just at the beginning of the story and has this huge presence throughout the story which is protagonist level presence.
Everyone talks of her, of what she was like as a person or an idol or what a talented idol she was or tries to understand her. she inspires the characters and runs the plot even after her death. (The fact that the main plot of the story is about taking revenge for her death.)
Also she is such a flawed character. (Everyone in this anime is though they weren't handled properly but i feel their flaws were still talked of.) She believes lying is love. And normally you wouldn't like such a character with this kind of view but the whole reason of her lying only to hope the lie would someday become the truth is so emotional. ๐ญ
Also the two sides that she has. Like on stage or from the outside she might seem so happy and carefree and silly and enjoying her time but then there is the Ai Hoshino with a dark side that no one much knew about, which stems from her childhood where she was abused and left alone by her mother and how lonely she was all her life. The Ai who is a liar and built up a whole career as an idol by showing a false version of herself and putting on a fake persona.
She was lonely and depressed and traumatic. The fact that she thought that her mother hated her hurts. (the line of the script ruby was trying to read while playing Ai's character)
And to think the one time she didn't lie was when she said "I love you" to her children and that also right before her death. The fact she never said it before because she feared it might be a lie too. Everything about her is so sad. And makes me cry. ๐ญ
And she was such a mysterious character too in this manga, as the story progressed we got to know more about her and her life even if she was dead. The fact that they had to make a movie that's all about her. I wish the movie arc was handled well but yes Ai Hoshino is an amazing character. That's it.
