Instead of twins I made him a year younger than gray. I chose Onyx for the name because its cool and the gemstone is a nice dark Grey color so I figured it fit with "Silver" and "Gray" lol.

His personality is similar to Yukio, he is calm and reserved at first glance. He's serious, but polite and friendly towards strangers, he has a natural air of professionalism. He is cold and threatening with enemies, and argumentative and critical with his friends and family. He wants the best for the people he cares for, he finds it hard to create personal bonds and unintentionally keeps everyone at arms length, unable to truly open himself up to anyone, even his brother. Internally he is self loathing and self-destructive. He believes if he had been as strong as he is today sooner, he could have helped Ur and to some extent, his parents. In reality, he was only a child, but it'll never soothe the survivors guilt inside of him.

Another creative liberty i took is his magic type. I wanted to keep the fact that he trained under Ur so I decided that instead of it being a type of requip magic it's more of just ice-make but focused solely on weaponry, which has lead to him focusing on more specific and stronger spells. He can still make other things, but he usually has no interest. I also imagine his ice being a different color, like a darker blue rather than Grays more realistic color and Lyon's frosty one. Also Gray was totally super jealous when he won the S-class trials.

So imma be honest, i wasn't sure if you wanted him still to be alive or not. You mentioned was and such, and under Ur you said "after his passing" but Ur died before Gray joined the guild/i don't know if it was a typo?...uhm so I'm kinda taking my own turn here and pretending for continuity sake (and my own happiness...) that he's still alive!

And finally onto the headcanons! Sorry, figured some background info would be helpful.

Natsu: He's known Natsu for awhile, he finds his rambunctious nature annoying at times but has always admired his determination.

Erza: Unashamed favorite. He gets along Erza the best and may even be closer to her than his own brother. He admires her strength and sees her as a big sister.

He for sure helps with bandaging him after rough missions while scolding him for being so reckless.

After his attempt, Natsu is a bit more protective of him. He's protective of everyone in the guild of course, but he never wants to see his family like that ever again. He's subtle at least, just watching him more, noticing more. And while he doesn't understand it completely, he understands that it isn't something that can be fixed overnight, it wasn't because of the guild, it was just how he is. So he just tries to make him laugh, he keeps his upbeat nature, and doesn't change how he acts with him.

Happy: He loathes Happy. No idea why, he's just always found him infuriating.

Doesn't like fish but will steal Happys fish and will eat it in front of him just to fuck with him.

Despite their rivalry, after their attempt Happy offers a fish at the side of his hospital bed, and after that moment Onyx is a little nicer to Happy.

Isn't a fan of sweets but will indulge in blueberry pie along side Erza and her cake from time to time.

Lucy: He finds her naive at times.

"Mini" Erza when she's away. Especially when it comes to Gray's and Natsu's bickering.

After his attempt Erza did give the emotional speech that the guild needed him, she needed him, and wanted to help in any way she could. Didn't leave his bedside for ages and made sure he was comfortable and brought him anything he needed, shutting down every attempt he made to protest against being taken care of.

Secretly jealous of her though because her celestial spirits are super cool.

Gray: He has always admired his brother and his strength and while he continues to outshine his brother, he'll always feel inferior. He'll pick him apart, because he knows how strong his brother is and wants to help his succeed in a way he never will.

He isn't sure how to feel about her, she's new and he doesn't handle new people well, but she's kinda funny so she gets a few points.

He's the only one who knocks on her door for permission to enter.

Wendy: He has a soft spot for kids. His voice, while subtle, shifts whenever it's to her. Like he is so soft and would die and kill for her.

Wendy brings him treats from time to time and he doesn't have the heart to tell her that most of them are way too sweet for him and sucks it up and eats the entire thing.

Carla: Finds her pretty stuck up, but considering he can be kinda stuck up too he kinda likes her.

Carla trusts him to watch over Wendy which is not a small thing at all.

Mutual relationship, they both hate everyone.

Him and Gray totally talk trash about people behind their backs.

Absolutely throws clothes at Gray everytime he strips.

Everytime either he or Natsu annoy/piss him off he steals Erza's cake and blames them.

After his attempt, he and Gray get into a pretty big argument when he finally recovers. Neither side is wrong, Gray doesn't understand why he would do it, and Onyx doesn't know how to explain why he did it, taking Gray's grief and fear as anger, leading to a big blowout. It takes a few days before Gray returns, and a few more before they talk. Between then though, Gray sits at his side, swallowing his pride and doesn't move much.

Ur: He loved Ur, before he was cold and critical, he was a rather shy kid. Ur would always push him to his limits and tell him he did well when he finally broke down.

Would hide behind her legs when in public/asked to be carried and whine when she told him no. Velcro kid for sure. If he couldn't cling to her he'd move onto one of his brothers.

Would cook with her/read with her from time to time. Training was harder on his body for awhile, he was weak and small, but after she passed, his determination to assure the work she put into them didn't go to waste.

Didn't leave the site where she passed immediately. He wouldn't have left at all if he were able. Gray had to basically drag him away while he could only stare at the melting bits of ice and snow.

Lyon: Never stopped seeing Lyon as a brotherly figure even after they went their separate ways. He knows his and Gray's relationship is strained, but there's the little kid part of him that wishes they could all be a family again. He doesn't voice this of course.

When they were kids Lyon was definitely the more encouraging brother, helping him off the ground if he fell, telling him it was okay if he didn't get through spells right away, or they weren't as big.

After the Oracion Seis arc, he regularly begins sending letters back and forth with him.

Lyon doesn't know of his attempt and Onyx plans to keep it that way, feeling great shame surrounding it.
