She was murdered in February 2007 by this man after he convinced her to meet him at a beach in Port Elliot, South Australia. She was the first Australian to be murdered by an online predator. Today marks the 10th anniversary of Carly’s death. The The Carly Ryan Foundation Inc. continues to raise awareness in the Australian community about Carly’s story by promoting internet safety and helping to ensure that what happened to Carly does not happen to other young people.
