Some facts and trivia:
Weston College's cricket tournament is based on Eton College's annual cricket tournament against Harrow School. (Source/Translation)
The Eton vs Harrow tournament does not take place on June 4th though. Yana chose "June 4" as the date for Weston's cricket tournament because Eton hosts a school festival every June 4th. Part of the festivities is a boating procession which served as the basis for Weston's victory boat parade.
Yana and her team met up with Naoki Alex Miyaji, the CEO of the Japan Cricket Association, to learn more about cricket and its rules as well as discuss strategies with him, i.a. the "Sword in the Stone" technique. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII (included in Volume 17)).
Miyaji gifted Yana a cricket ball; it is shown on the "table of contents" page of Volume 16. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII)
The cricket teams enter the grand dining hall for the eve of tournament celebration in the order of the previous year's tournament ranking.
Bluewer's "Hunter in the Dark" technique was based on The Story of Spedegue's Dropper by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII)
Ciel's "Over-the-Edge Tactics" was based on the real-life Bodyline tactic. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII; and Twitter)
