For @teiaweek2026 ! Originally, I wrote something else, but when I re-read it this morning, I hated it so I wrote this drabble instead. It is a follow up to Poaching from a Rival's nest. Prompt used: Playing Favorites and Break up (even if it's a fake, playful one)
"Everyone knows you have a favorite." Viago steps beside Teia as she overlooks a flock of fledgling sparring. "Is that what you call yourself, Vi?" She teases, leaning into him as a form of greeting. "You know what I mean." Vi respond gruffly, kissing her. "It's the skinny one from House Valisti." "House Cantori." Teia corrects, feigning offenses in tone and posture. "And they are my favorite." "What have they done to earn such honor." Viago plays along. "Flatter me in ways few have." Teia winks "It's over between us." Viago deadpans, leaving "See you at dinner, Vi." "Ugh, fine"
look, I get it, ok?! I understand the inherent sexiness of Viago picking Teia up and fucking her against a wall, I really do! but it won't change the fact that he is, canonically, a disabled character who regularly uses cane to walk. not everyday. but often enough it gets mentioned in the novella. he would not be able to hold Teia up like that for extended time without his leg giving up under him. which defeats the sexiness.
may I humbly offer an alternative?
