Any advice for aspiring film makers in High School?
Hi @anais-pier!
I do! Since I found it hard to find information about filmmaking in high school, I was inspired to create this blog to gather resources for and give advice to aspiring filmmakers.
My first advice is to just make things. The best way to learn filmmaking is to get hands-on experience. Also, making stories is what makes you appealing when trying to get a job or apply to film school. Professionals like to see creativity and initiative. Technical skills are great, but anyone can learn how to use a camera. People are interested in your unique perspective, your ability to tell a story, and your willingness to work hard.
As for other advice, since my blog has a growing number of informational posts, I have made a short list of links that may help you start making your films.
If you are looking for technical information:

If you are looking for film school information:

I also currently have a page dedicated to screenwriting tips and will soon add a page with all my posts about filmmaking basics (technical info, vocabulary of the industry, directing advice…).
Good luck!
Jules
