Perspective Study - contour lines, mathematical function
The journey continues! This is my latest freehand perspective drawing - work in progress!
I am painting my mathematical function as if they were made from stained glass!
Freehand perspective drawing of contour lines on a "tower" with a clover-leaf shaped base. The clover-leaf is infinitely large at the base and shrinks reciprocally with height. Top view, front view, and drawing in perspective constructed from them.
I constructing the contour lines on this tower-shaped surface traditionally, using the techniques of descriptive geometry - just without ruler or compass. Then I am adding colors in several layers, using different kinds of pencils and pens.

I put together some plans for the Piano Coat Rack so that if anyone else wants to try to make one they have a starting point. I ended up putting them on itch.io for free since tumblr doesn't really like PDFs or zip files. The plans are free for non-commercial use. I also have a section describing some of the process to hopefully make it fairly easy to replicate.

I put these plans together in FreeCad, so along with a PDF version of the technical drawings there are also full 3D models that you can use to get a better understanding of how it goes together. If you notice any oddities or mistakes or have any question please just me up!

LJS 22 is an illustrated treatise on machinery. It includes some fantastic technical drawings including machines for attacking fortified cities, the use of waterwheels in mills and manufacturing, and the construction of defensive fortifications. Written in Italy in 1687. Online: bit.ly/3Udu8Z4
