Here’s a bunch of stuff I’ve made this year.
I cannot express to you how I feel but I can make this stuff which is pretty much the same thing 👍
Another random non woodworking project I just did was start to learn to sew on a sewing machine. My first project was a Dopp bag following this tutorial https://beckystern.com/2023/07/02/dopp-kit-bag-sewing-pattern/
It went surprisingly well! Though that is likely because I had the guidance of my grandmother who has been sewing since she was a kid.
Random small project I’ve been doing to make a better travel screwdriver. I usually take my weatherman, and realized I could just 3D print a custom handle
This is the final iteration of the model:
It does matter. It matters exactly like this.
Last month I was in the ER, the most vulnerable emotionally that I've ever been while putting myself in the hands of a stranger. That the intake doctor had a lanyard heavy with Pride pins mattered. It's such a tiny gesture, but the amount of safety I felt because of it, during an agonizing moment in my life, was huge.

I cut these cedar slabs with this holzforma g660 and an Alaskan mill 😎 going to use them to make bookshelves and maybe cabinets or siding or something
Did this the other day and hadn't gotten to posting about it. About two years ago I built my new workbench, and installed a vice (original post under the break), then never went back and made a handle. Instead I was using whatever scrap I could find at the time. Now I have a nice handle!
The fun part is it's another piece built from wood off my land.
Turned a random bowl out of walnut, was mainly just messing around with the external curve. Now it is holding clementines.
A little something off the firewood pile. I'm really proud of this one

Woodworking adjacent work today, I turned my stockpile of local beeswax from the farmers market into a beeswax finish.
It consists of beeswax and mineral oil. Take some beeswax and add some mineral oil and melt it together. Once it's melted adjust the amount of mineral oil so that when it cools it's easy to spread. (I usually spread a small amount on the back of a plate then feel it's consistency). Once it feels good out it into jars and let it cool.
Been turning a lot of baby rattles recently, and am starting to have more rattles than I know what to do with.
The majority are made from cherry and oak, with the light one with the really rounded ends turned from a poplar that fell in a windstorm.
They are all finished with beeswax and are incredibly satisfying to play with.
Some stuff I'm working on for my MN Master Naturalist capstone project
Started working on my first chair, got the legs attached and noticed I messed up a little bit. Not quite sure how I managed it. Still have a lot left to do, but it's a start.
Been working on a staked table for the last little while. Had a random price of oddly shaped wood I picked up somewhere. It's cat approved.
I think I should have done round legs, but it's still fun.

Week 5 Secretary Desk. This weekend I mostly finished the base and glued on the face frames. Many things are left to build. The drop down desk, drawers, and crown moulding are next on my list.
Ended up being extra motivated today and got a coat of garnet shellac onto the new toolbox
