As a nation of extroverts, we have naturally turned to group therapy as an antidote to this isolation.

Full of hope and courage, timid souls eagerly schedule themselves around group dynamics, weekend encounters for body discovery, joyful lessons in meditation groups, and so on. At each stage of this sterile pilgrimage, they sadly ask one another, “Who am I? Touch me. Feel me… react to my presence… tell me who I am.

Have we become so separated from our inner reason for being that we exist only in relation to others?

!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!

Homeowner/Protagonist (my husband)

-The Hermit reversed

Could be considered canon since that's how he was perceived and referenced from the Radio.

He has taken the Hermit's bad sides and amplified it a lot. He most likely doesn't want to deal with emotions taking away of the Hermits initial retrospective nature.

-8 of pentacles reversed.

In this card the worksman is completely absorbed on his work and nothing else, the town in the card farr behind him.

Its an unorthodox card for this situation but the other apathy card 4 of cups is more sad and depressed rather than willing. While Homeowner is most likely depressed he wasn't exactly willing to greet his neighbor at the start (based on dialogue).

The worksman (Homeowner) is absorbed in his bad Ways (Hermit reversed) and his unhappiness (Sun reversed)

-The Tower

His life changed significantly with the apocalypse, letting in people and during one of the endings expressing disappointment they left/he would return to normal)

-The sun reversed

Homeowner doesn't appear to be happy in I think any of his dialogues. He is usually aggravated and so closed off.

His cards all go together to create a mix thats Homeowner. He is Most likely unhappy, Brash, And Introverted and these 3 support each other like a bad cycle. But the Tower comes and shakes everything causing him to have to adapt or die and leaves him wanting what he had for such brief amount of time.

Although this is my opinion, Unlike the Vigilante he is more passive rather than so violent, instead preffering to be a complete recluse. He is only driven to the edge when the Vigilante attacks him. And Most likely causes some sort of traumatic respond taking out everything he had on him snd anyone who reminded him of The Vigilante.

Cashier girl

-Death reversed

She is refusing change, refusing to accept that she was a visitor when she finally accepted it she went mad the realization breaking her.

-Nine of swords

She has endured significant trauma, Things keep her up at night, she is pessimistic, anxious, fearful.

-The 10 of swords

One of the worst cards to receive this card shows someone lying motionless on the floor Besides water, stabbed by 10 swords on the back.

Cashier girl met a tragic end filled with complete break down of her mentality and logic (the suit of swords generally). Her end was inevitable just like the one on the cards.

Cashier girl's cards go up to a climax, starting with The death card reversed looming over the distance and gradually appearing around day two Along with 9 of swords and the it all comes crashing down with Her inevitable tragedy loosing her mind.

I decided to combine my modest tarot skills and my continued interest in the chaotic F1 grid to conduct a case study on the drivers, from a tarot perspective. As some of you already know, I'm also a journalist, so I'll focus on conducting analysis from an opinion piece perspective (bringing data as well as my own observations).

Of course, this is primarily a playful perspective, with no intention of damaging the image of our boys. Interpretations vary among tarot readers, and this is my opinion here.

I will share pictures of my cards in each post to support the analysis of each driver's card combination.

Update: I decided to share the full analysis only on AO3.

I want to start a little tarot blog. I actually have / had an IG for tarot a few years ago, but I don’t really use it anymore, partially because typing everything up on my phone was a pain.

Some brief information:

I’ve been fascinated with tarot for close to a decade now. I got my first deck 8 or 9 years ago—it was a Rider Waite and it was not gifted to me. I respect people’s ideas of tradition around gifting decks of course, but I don’t think we should feel bad or worry about what it means to get ourselves our own decks. I still have my first deck. Since then, I have obtained and given away several decks.

1. Rider Waite--This is the most well-known deck probably in existence--certainly in English speaking countries.

2. Smith Waite--this got damaged recently and is still usable but part of why I got two new decks recently. It’s also my smallest and most portable deck, though it really isn’t that small. This deck is named to pay homage to the original illustrator. It has the original color pallet.

I also had several learning decks at some point, that I have since given away to CS (I believe I gave her a version I added extra annotation to), DW, and AJK (received a slightly different, larger learning deck than the other two.)

3. I still own a learning deck I've annotated heavily. It has keywords for Upright and Reversed, a short meaning, an affirmation, the number, element, zodiac, time period / dates, chakra, yes/ no, and Hebrew character it is associated with for each card as well as a few key words for the card as relevant to the categories of Love, Career, and Finance. I've only barely begun to dive into numerology, element, and yes / no. I don't know a whole lot about how to utilize time period, zodiac + planet, chakra, Hebrew, with it. I definitely take these with a grain of salt because the manufacturer of this deck isn't clear, and even the information found on the deck differs on other annotated decks sometimes. I really do like this deck for the affirmations though

5. Modern Witch Tarot—This is a beautiful, female-first deck that provides modern (for example, the Chariot is a motorbike) and diverse imagery of women throughout the typical RW context. I encountered it first in a reading I received and later got my own, but didn't find it quite suited me so I ended up giving this away (CS). I would argue it's a queer deck--which is part of why it called to me.

6. Tarot of Opposition— I don’t use this deck much but it is very interesting. I think because there’s no clear orientation, just depictions of the positive and negative aspects, generally as if viewed across a looking glass. I’m not familiar enough with RW to remember when those correlate to Upright or Reversed which makes it harder to look up and interpret. This is a deck that requires more familiarity with the visual symbolism, numerology, and elements and lends itself to intuitive reading. It is all about duology and two perspectives, and does feel less binary than RW to me.

7. Tarot of the Divine—This was the first deck gifted to me by KR, a good friend of mine. It's entwined with many mythologies from across the world and each card correlated to a different myth or folk tale. For example, The Fool is the Little Mermaid. I find it sometimes hard to read because of how nuanced it is, with both the trappings of traditional tarot and the nuance of the story each card embodies. I think it’s best suited for 1-3 card holistic draws, but really probably mostly 1, at least for my current skillset.

8. CBD Tarot de Marseille. This is a French Italian deck from the 15th century I obtained recently. It’s unique because of how the majority of the Wands and Coins suit cards do not have clear orientations. Several of the Swords cards also lack this. The Cups are the only suit where orientation is clear throughout. On the whole, the deck is very different from RW but the Maor Arcana Sun card is why I chose it. The Sun in RW is the source of light, but in Marseille, the people are. Generally, the lack of orientation means that I approach this more thoughtfully and it also means that it’s less binary. On the whole Swords in Marseille is also less negative than in RW. I'm still learning quite a bit about this deck.

9. Trickster’s Journey by Jia Sung. This is a beautiful watercolor deck that draws from the Chinese classic Journey to the West among other things from Chinese mythology. I love the reinterpretation and recontextualization of tarot, since our own mythologies inform our experience with it. It's a beautiful deck and I feel drawn to it. Notably, the Fool has been renamed Trickster, and the Monkey (who references the Monkey King) is not gendered past the initial acknowledgement of the homage.

The Three Of Wands:

“your past was without opportunity, it certainly did not prepare you for where you are now."

Mell grew up with good people , but they had to face the hardships that prevented them from reaching their full. Potential. Mostly physically, but parental loss too is not easily overcome. These did not give them the opportunity to be prepared for things such as these. I do not blame them.

The Empress:

“You have the opportunity to do something new. Something enlightening.”

Ah. The hope of the early circus. The hope of first arc MELL. What i only yearn fore now. This could be in reference to the opportunity to step out of their shell- which they did, a bit, in the tightrope walker’s trial . In general, a lot of what has happened even now in regards to. Old gods. Is still enlightening. Maybe it will help later. This could also be referencing their relationship with Vincent. (The first one OBVIOUSLY.)

Nine of Wands:

“But there is something you are scared of, whatever could that be.”

This could, on a surface level, be in reference to Mell’s general anxieties that they grapple with throughout the . SEries. Although, I think the thing fate says next proves tellIng:

“Your fear will hold you back.”

This could be in reference to a lot, and it could even be something that got rebuked. As fate says, the cards are fickle. But what comes to mind is Mell’s inability to act. In some scenarios. Like with Dolan, although I would thiNk that it was for. The best that they didn’t. But they have the tendency to freeze. Like a Deer in the Headlights. Ironic.

basically i've just done my monthly spread for July. there are ten questions i ask- (self at the beginning of the month, theme of the month, self at the end of the month, main goal, main obstacle , main accomplishment, what to avoid, what to embrace, where to get support, and advice) as well as three key cards for any major events. This is a spread that's worked for me well for a while now, even if some months it's less helpful than others.

relevant info- been having a hard time for a long time, don't want to get into it too much, but part of it is that i'm at the point where almost all of my relationships are not at all satisfying to me and aren't fulfilling any of my needs. this life "plot point"has been brewing for years despite my attempts to fix it. anyway, i'm at my breaking point. for reference i'm the 🌀anon who asked about energy work a while ago and got identified as an energy sun by @thespellweavingspirit .

so i've just done my july spread, and every single card minus one of my spread was reversed. Unusual- and if all the cards I pull are reversals I either flip them upright or re-draw, except for when there's an upright in there, because it's always meant that the reversals are on purpose, even if there are too many. This is the most I've ever gotten any reversals, it's kind of confounding. Said upright card was the "main obstacle" card, which was Judgement. Everything else is a mix of pentacles, cups, swords, wands, and another two major arcana. in case it's important, in order- (self beginning of month = ten of pentacles rx, theme page of wands rx, end of month three of pentacles rx, main goal three of cups rx, - , main accomplishment ten of cups rx, what to avoid queen of cups rx, what to embrace three of swords rx, where to find support knight of pentacles rx, advice the hanged man rx, major events are the empress rx , ten of wands rx, and five of cups rx). i shuffle my cards intensely before I start, and shuffle between each card pull, so i'm not pulling from a clump of cards that all happen to be reversed. I'm honestly feeling frustrated and was hoping you had any insight on spreads that turn out like this. I can see an emphasis on relationships within the spread as well as roles i play, but it's hard to make sense of all of this, which is unusual.

Sometimes, when spreads come out all weird and jumbled, I take it to be "we've run out of ways to tell you what's going to happen so here's a bunch of omens at once, good luck."

Your spread, however, I think can be analyzed on a deeper level.

Without the exact spread arrangement this kind of analysis won't be super accurate, but I'm going to share it anyway because it might be helpful to spark ideas in your own interpretation:

When doing advanced analysis, you can break the spread down into chunks and view each chunk on its own before blending them together in a whole. Same concept as reading a sentence before reading a paragraph.

The exact meanings don't necessarily have to be brought up. I leave it to you to fill in the details based on what system of meanings you are using.

One again, since I don't know how you actually laid out your spread, this is just an example of a way to look at it (even if they were all cards laid out in a single line they can still be broken up, etc).

Let's start with 10/Pentacles (R) [beginning of month], Page/Wands (R) [theme of month], and 3/Pentacles (R) [end of month].

We start out with the highest # earth card and there is a steep downturn to a low # earth card. Essentially, whatever is had will be reduced or lost. The page in the middle can show us details as to why.

In the way that I read, minor arcana tend to be events while courts tend to be agents, identities, or behaviors.

Normally, the fiery Page shouldn't have an issue with the earthy Pentacles. But we know something bad has to happen due to the Page's presence, because we're ending up much lower than where we started.

One way we can interpret this is that because of the Page's actions (or inaction), the earthy, Pentacles part of your life is going to "reset" down to basics.

When looking for what meanings to apply to each card, we are probably going to want to look for the more fiery and active meanings for each earth card, and the more grounded and earthy meanings for the Page (as they all bleed into each other).

Moving on to the 3/Cups (R) [main goal], 10/Cups (R) [main accomplishment], and Queen/Cups (R) [what to avoid].

Note that in the first triad, you started with a 10 and ended with a 3. Here, the spread is telling you that your main goal is a 3, but you're going to accomplish a 10.

All these cards are watery. It's intense but not necessarily bad. Consider that because the 3 and the 10 are both Cups, and the Queen of Cups can be interpreted as the advisor and guide of that suite, you may be receiving advice to not try and master or control this situation.

In other words, perhaps trying to take control of this situation and resolve it to your own satisfaction is only prolonging an inevitable process of change.

We can also note that the Queen is your highest-ranking court card (no kings on the spread). Not only this but Water cards outweigh every other element. We can surmise that the Queen of Cups has a great deal of authority - and perhaps, trying to wield her authority to achieve the watery 10 when you should be going for the 3 is the wrong choice.

(Using this same type of analysis, the Knight has less authority than the Queen, but more than the Page - the Page being the lowest-ranking, and having only one other fire card in the spread to manage.)

Still within this triad, we see an escalation. The low-# 3 jumps up to a 10, and then a Queen. This shows a growing intensity in this emotional, watery, symbolic triad (whereas in the earthy physical reality triad above, we saw a decrease due to a fiery intrusion).

When choosing the meanings for each cards, the most intensely watery meaings are likely the most appropriate (as opposed to meanings better assigned to a different element).

Now looking at the 3/Swords (R) [what to embrace], Knight/Pentacles (R) [where to find support], and Hanged Man (R) [advice].

Again, we see a pattern of 3s: end up with a 3, your main goal is a 3, embrace a 3. A numerological investigation into the number 3 might be of great assistance to you at this time (especially consider its connotations of new growth and rebuilding).

Here we have the first elemental clash. The airy 3/Swords doesn't get along well with the earthy Knight/Pentacles. Here, the Knight has a lot more power than the small 3, but the elements are oppositional - the Knight has no real authority over it. Then we arrive at the Hanged Man, which like a Knight is also a #12 card in its series.

We're about to jump into analysis, but let's plug in one more thing first. The three of swords is the only air card you have in this entire spread. It's the only suit without a Court ruler to step in and influence things.

We might consider here that given the mental associations of air, you must embrace processing the loss that will arrive - and do so with the support of the Knight who will take you there.

The Knight of Pentacles is ruling over the same suit that is telling you how your month will start and end. You are told to avoid the queen of cups, the suit that takes from the goal of 3 to the actual accomplishment of the 10 - and you are told to get support from the Knight of Pentacles, the suit that takes you from the current 10 to the ending of 3.

I see a strong implication based on this analysis (again, an example analysis since I don't now how your real spread actually looked) that the 3s appear to be important and beneficial, while the 10s appear to be something you should move away from.

Lastly in this triad, we can see that the Hanged Man is a watery card. Given that the all-cups triad appears to be something to avoid, we might consider that the Hanged Man is encouraging reflection on how you think about your entire relationship situation - that you might be having things upside-down.

Three cards indicating major events: Empress (R), 10/Wands (R), 5/Cups (R)

As you well know, Anon, the Empress is the #3 card of her series. This gives her a very strong link to the earthy 3/Pentacles (R).

Here we have the second and final elemental clash: fire flows into water.

Imagining a number graph, we start at 3, jump up to 10, and middle out with a 5 at the end. Although the earthy Empress and fiery 10 are usually friends, we know something is wrong here because the series is terminated by a watery card that clashes with fire.

Therefore, we are free to look towards the more burdensome and oppressive meanings of the 10 of Wands.

We can also reflect on the strong association between 3s and 10s in this spread.

Well, enough has been meandered on. Using all of the information and analysis above, we might come out to something like the following interpretations (again, spitballing as I don't know what system of meanings you're using):

[Empress/10 Wands/5 Cups] A big event: The part of you that wants to care for and nurture relationships is going to run into an intensely burdensome situation which will result in emotional burnout and the feeling of loss.

[10 Pentacles/Page Wands/3 Pentacles] Beginning, Theme, End: The part of your life that wants to uphold and maintain your personal "tribe" is going to experience a fiery intrusion or filtration that requires you to reduce and return to a student's mindset of beginning and rebuilding.

[note the strong similarities between these 2 triads!]

[3 Cups/10 Cups/Queen Cups] Goal, accomplishment, what to avoid: While your primary goal is to return to a reduced and simplified place, you will actually still choose the unwieldy, burdensome 10; the Queen is unwilling (or perhaps unable) to make any other choice, so she should be avoided.

[3/Swords/Knight Pentacles/Hanged Man]: Embrace, support, advice: Embrace the rational reality of loss in this situation, and rely on responsible, practical behaviors to help guide you to your goal. It will help if you are able to view this situation in an entirely new light.

This has gotten far too long, so just a last few words:

Here are some of my personal notes for the Judgement card:

Upright. Generally. Resolution or final determination of a matter. The end of things. Mundane. The ending of the matter is soon at hand. It is necessary for you to make a decision, one way or another. You should judge the situation for yourself. You are at a crossroads; things will go one way or the other.

As far as reversals go, we might make any number of assumptions. My initial assumption was that you are being yelled at, and this was the best way to tell you Something Is Up without having you discard the spread due to too many reversals.

An abundance of reversals might be your own refusal or inability to see certain aspects of this situation.

I often read reversals as "you don't or can't believe this right now."

It might be a way of saying that while many of the cards (and the elemental portents themselves) are just fine (actually, great portents for the whole spread elementally speaking), the whole thing is going to end up kind of sucking anyway.

Keep an eye out for when your own willpower rears its head and chooses to Make A Decision. This would appear to be related to the Page of Wands and the 10 of Wands; both are immense catalysts of change in this spread.

Happy Pisces Full Moon to everyone 🌕♓️. I know I said the next tarot post was going to be about the Empress, but the Ancestors were nudging me to talk about the 4 of Pentacles and how we as material creatures get so stuck in the facade of loss. Loss is not an end all be all. I’m sure a lot of you know that, but let’s describe it anyway as the Pisces Moon is here and Pisces is the sign that speaks of surrender. Of course there are times when we have to be more careful about our actions to not sabotage ourselves, but let’s focus more on the more extreme manifestations of the 4 of pentacles.

- I first want to point out that the 4 of pentacles is ruled by the sign of Capricorn ♑️. A rule of thumb for anyone who wants to know more about tarot: 2-4 in a suit represents the cardinal sign of said suit (So for example, 4 of pentacles is the Pentacles suit, & it’s element is Earth, and the cardinal earth sign is Capricorn). 5-7 is the fixed sign, and 8-10 is the mutable sign.

-With that being said, the 4 of pentacles is represented by Capricorn. We understand that Capricorn themes are Saturn’s themes: cautiousness, diligence, control, steadiness, and even fear. But fear of what? Fear of loss, fear of at any moment your stability can be taken away and you have to start from square 1. Fear of setbacks. Of course we as humans are have the right to be naturally afraid of this as we are living in a world where there is a lot of value and upward mobility the more material possessions you gain, but if you look at the 4 of pentacles, the individual still has their possessions. It’s more psychological. They are not looking and seeing and saying, “Wait, I have 4 pentacles, I’m not at a loss!” But thinking that only having 4 pentacles is a danger zone. Not willing to open and receive more from the universe. Given this card is represented by Capricorn and I do want to be realistic in my analysis, opening up to the universe does not mean lackadaisically putting all pentacles in one basket, but being open minded towards the universe and saying “Yes, I’m willing to make a plan to receive more and understand it will take some risk, I just ask for patience and guidance while doing it.” Because looking at the 4 of pentacles’ meaning, there’s fear of loss of control. There’s fear of the unknown. So we may hold onto what we already have because how high is the risk of letting go? Yet, are you comfortable with the area you’re in now? The 4 of pentacles is not too eager about growth. That is why when this card is drawn, think about any limits (mainly mental) in place and how you can combat it, and if it’s a physical limit, same thing. Yet, mental limits is a helluva lot harder than physical limits. That’s why I wanted to post this during this time. With the moon in Pisces, we may be a little more willing to let go of the mental limits we put on ourselves and say “It is what it is, and as long as I do put in the diligent effort to work for my goals, I’m not going to tire my mentality trying to chase it. The Universe understands my intentions and I trust in that it will work out for my highest good.” And again, Saturn is long and arduous in its journey, but Saturn doesn’t forget the people who put in the work, niether.
