hi just got into sleep token (obsessed w/ gethsemane as of now) and i was straying into their fandom spaces and i'm SO CONFUSED what am i reading about a CULT
ohhhh my god first of all SO excited about this i'm soooo glad you like gethsemane that might be my favourite song and st is my favourite band
as a very VERY simple summary. there's Lore. the whole band is 2 guys, singer/multi-instrumentalist & the drummer who are both anonymous, and go by Vessel and Vessel II (or just II). there's also III and IV on bass & lead guitar but they're touring members
the general story/idea is that the main guy, Vessel, is this prophet-type person who spreads the message of this ancient deity called Sleep through the songs, hence the band's name Sleep Token.
it's not EXACTLY a cult. but they lean really hard into the Vibes like all their social medias are in character, they call their concerts Rituals and their songs/albums Offerings, i'm on the mailing list and get emails addressed to Follower Orpheus so. its wacky but it's kind of fun and i honestly love it
i'm not super active in their fandom spaces? historically there have been problems with people spreading the members' identities around and some not so good stuff, but like i said i'm not there much so i don't know a lot. i could go more in depth with my Theories about the lore & the story's progression across the discography (say the word and i will i swear–) but thats the gist of most of it
