The momentafter their lips parted left quiet tension in the air, leaving Hiro staring athis own reflection in the dark sunglasses on the man’s still-too-close face.Seconds later, and Hiro was stomach-twistingly aware of the flush that wasbeginning to spread from his cheeks to the tips of his ears, like slow fire.

“Wh… What doyou think you’re….”

Harada releaseda short, close-lipped laugh. Hearing Hiro slip from his normal, overly politespeech was an unexpected pleasure. His usual manner of talking would turn froma glowing mark of respect toward Akagi and twist into something sarcastic whenhe spoke to someone like Harada, though the words themselves never changed.Sure, it might be part of Hiro’s charm, but he liked seeing him acting morehonestly.

“Don’t tell methat was your first kiss…” It was somewhat mocking, a bit of a joke, though hewouldn’t be surprised if his guess was correct. Hiro was nothing like thenormal, seedy rep players, the yakuza that he was used to. From his appearanceto his attitude, from the way he held himself, every inch of him was in starkcontrast to the crowds of the smoky mahjong parlors he frequented. The initialdisbelief Harada had when he saw him during the East-West game had settled intoa curiosity that tugged at him constantly.

“It’s… It’s…That’s… none of your business…!”

The way hischeeks somehow darkened further all but confirmed it. Harada couldn’t suppressa laugh now, voice filling the room as Hiro’s brows twitched in embarrassmentand anger. As his laughter subsided, he brushed a finger over Hiro’s warm cheek,tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.

“I can at leastmake sure it ain’t your last.”
