Tamanoa isn’t a Legendary creature, which has been a point of quite a bit of discussion in the community, and this is a large reason why. When you have an enchantment like Form of the Dinosaur, it’s basically a ticking timebomb, letting you keep the red zone a little more clear for your creatures, but also limiting how long you have to win. The two best ways to deal with this, then, are either gaining life or winning faster. Lifelink and similar abilities can definitely stem the tide, but gaining at least 15 life a turn can be a game changer. Instead of having to look at ways to bounce the FotD to get reset back to 15 life, you’re quickly increasing your life total, making the balancing of FotD into a benefit.

Enrage is probably the best (imho) mechanic in Ixalan. There isn't enough in Ixalan alone to support a full commander deck, though. Make sure to put in more creatures to fill the ground and give options for Enrage effects. Hexproof will protect from targeted removal like destroy, -X/-X, bounce, exile, even pacifisms! Lifegain or creature-less decks might not give combat damage triggers, so be sure to include burn or ping options like Staff of Nin and Lightmine Field. And to get the most value for your creatures, make sure to include ways to give indestructible; unlike many aggressive decks, Dolmen Gate and Iroas work against you and stop your potential triggers. Stuffy Doll, Tamanoa, and Rite of Passage all are worth honorable mentions, too!

A reference to Tamanoa, which is frustratingly non-legendary despite mechanically and flavorfully feeling like a legendary. I decided to fix that. I also decided to change the templating, but I don't know if it works.

Tamanoa is one of those oddball cards that has an effect that hasn’t been seen on any other card, making it unique and rather hard to build around.  It requires noncreature sources of damage, which normally means spells, but with planeswalkers or enchantments or even pinging artifacts Tamanoa can turn into a real life gain machine.  It’s also worth noting that pain lands like Brushland and Karplusan Forest become lands with no downside as well, because that damage dealt to you is immediately returned a trigger later with that much life.  It’s also worth noting the two card ‘combo’ with Searing Meditation, turning every even amount of mana you have into damage and that much life.  The biggest problem with the card is that it’s tough to build around a single card in a 99 card deck, and in colors that often love to do big creatures.  Still, if you’re looking for something more interesting for a Naya deck, look no further.
