Testosterone does not ‘turn you gay’.
Wow this is going to reach like, nobody, but I’m saying it anyway and I can’t believe I have to. Like, I just learnt this was a thing especially on TikTok and I’m appalled.
Going on T does not turn you gay! Going on T does NOT turn you gay! GOING ON T DOES NOT TURN YOU GAY!
Nothing short of intense psychological manipulation and mental breaking can turn a person from one sexuality, to another. ‘Turned gay’ just isn’t something you can be. It IS homophobic to say you were turned gay by T, because it directly conflicts with the idea that sexuality is a natural thing you are born with. In fact, it even hints that if hormones can turn a person gay, then something can turn a gay person straight! Because in your world, that’s how sexuality works! Now, I’m not saying that your attraction to men can’t have ‘suddenly’ or seemed to suddenly appear around the time you started T. Trans people often have a complex relationship with sexuality, especially if you’re only attracted to a single gender. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the increase in libido that T can and does give to a lot of folks who take it ( and you feeling more comfortable as a man/trans masc person) could have allowed you to explore your attraction to men and realise you have it when previously you thought you didn’t.
But that isn’t ‘becoming gay because of T’. That’s ‘realising you were gay, because of becoming your real gender, helped by T’s increase in libido side effect’.
If T made people gay, there would be no ace or bisexual or het men (especially not cis ones) and no ace or bi or lesbian pre-HRT trans women. We know that’s not true. I shouldn’t have to say to you why that misinformation is therefore, pushing a lot of the wrong buttons giving a lot of wrong ideas about sexuality.
It also seem a lot of people are actually turned off by the idea that T will make them attracted to men. This also comes off homophobic because you (a man, or a trans masc person) are literally going ‘ew I don’t want to be attracted to men’ simply because you don’t like cishet men (something tells me you’d be ‘ok’ with trans men) and you don’t get away with saying men loving men is gross just because you’re not cis and might identify as a trans masc lesbian or ace or something.
Also, ‘ew I don’t want to be attracted to men’ also includes other trans men. You don’t get to say they don’t count in your aversion to men without also being transphobic. So like, question where you’re going with this. And no, having cis man related trauma doesn’t excuse you from being allowed to project this imagine. I’m here telling you right now that if you’re not attracted to men and were never meant to be, T won’t make you. Just absolutely quit it and shut down everyone who does this. It’s so much misinformation, so much fearmongering and has so many goddamn problems.

let me preface this first with, i’m not a doctor- so you rly should check with yours first. as far as i kno, there’s a chance, a slight one, tht you could get pregnant. it’s not very common, and usually results in a miscarriage, but it does happen. you could take birth control, like get an IUD or something to decrease those odds even more if you didn’t want a hysto. good luck turtledove!
