“look at what i got!”
gunwook looks up and sees you wearing a new semi-formal outfit. the both of you were in his house, just wanting to spend the day together. gunwook shows you his signature smile and ruffled your hair. maybe there are good things to look forward to in life. “i think you look great, what’s the occasion?”
“no occasion, i just wanted to look good.”
gunwook smiles again and pokes your cheek. he does not hesitate to show you how much he adores you. he had lived so many different lives that he never bothered to find love, but yet you, were different. knowing most of his lives were short-lived, he never hesitated to tell you how much you mean to him. this time though, he is praying for a life where he could grow old with you. “you always look good,” he says, admiring you once more.
you blushed slightly and hit his shoulder playfully. “you and your way of words-“
he grins and gives you a hug, cutting your words off. “let’s go out today. we can’t let that good outfit go to waste, can we?” he holds your hand and picks up a few of his belongings, before leaving the house and heading to the car. he opens the car door and lets you go in first. “after you, my lady,” gunwook says in a british accent. you laughed at his words and get in, gunwook closing the door after you before getting into the driver’s seat.
you both drive off, you admiring how gunwook looks while driving. how could you get so lucky? you were not that affectionate of a person but gunwook knew that he means to you as much as you mean to him. “hey gunwook have i ever told you-“
the screeching of the tires rang throughout your ears, causing the both of you to flung forward and back, your foreheads bleeding upon impact. glass shards flew everywhere, cutting your skin before you passed out momentarily.
no, no, no! gunwook panicked when he regained consciousness, barely able to open his eyes. the both of you were now on the ground, the car flipped over. he quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and crawled his way towards you, unbuckling yours and trying to drag you out of the car with as little energy he have left. “yn! wake up! please!” he pleads, tears pouring out of his eyes. he pokes your cheek softly, hoping you wake up. he feels his energy start to drain away and he knew he did not have that much time left.
“yn, you can’t hear me but-“ his voice cracks and he lays down beside you, losing his energy. “i will find you, please, remember me.” gunwook was crying by now, you weren’t responding to him. “i will remember you so promise me you will, please?”
sirens were ringing in his ear and he wanted to see you do any sort of sign that you heard what he said. why was life so unfair? why did his current life end so early when he was finally happy?
“yn, i-“
and it all went black.
first life without you . .
gunwook groans. he was reborn as the son of a conglomerate family. although his current life is luckier than most, he could not enjoy it.
you weren’t here.
he did not know where to start. how could he find you? what are the chances you will remember him? or your past life? he was currently 23 years old, twenty-three years without you.
“i arranged a blind date for you,” his father enters the room, giving gunwook the details. he sighs but doesn’t protest. going on blind dates was the fastest way to find you.
he went on the date, but he did not like it. she was someone who was arrogant and believed she should get her way, which was so different from you that it disgusted gunwook. he left halfway through the date, not wanting to deal with her further.
how much longer could he live without you?
third life without you . .
gunwook was reborn as the son of a nice couple that owns a family restaurant. gunwook took full advantage of the fact, serving and helping out as much as he can. with more customers, the higher the chance he could find you.
he has now lived forty-eight years without you, his previous two lives being short, but it wasn’t worth living if it meant you weren’t around.
“this is for table 2.” his mother handed him a tray with stir-fried noodles with mayonnaise all over it and tempura on the side. gunwook looked at the dish. it was your favourite food. he remembers the first time he has seen you eating this particular combo and how unappealing it looked, but you were adamant on how good it was. gunwook had once took a bite and realised it was actually delicious but because he did not want to admit you were right, he would make the dish behind your back.
the memory brought a smile to his face and he quickly went to serve the dish, a little hopeful but to his dismay, it was someone that he immediately knew wasn’t you.
“enjoy your food,” he says, a little disappointed before turning away.
sixth life without you . .
gunwook has now lived a hundred and fifteen years without you. in this life however, he was blessed with the ability to sing and dance. in fact, his name was the one he was given when he first met you. he was park gunwook again.
“you should audition to be an idol!” his friend, kum junhyeon, would constantly tell him but gunwook would always shake his head, disagreeing. he does not want to bring any attention to himself, when he still could not find you.
“you being an idol or famous could help you find that person you have been wanting to find-“
gunwook did not have to listen further. he immediately recorded and posted a video of him singing to a song and it went viral almost immediately. he has been scouted by companies to train under them but he declined them all, hoping to stay independent. junhyeon, however, has taken the role of his manager, helping gunwook edit videos and secure any deals.
a year or so have past by since then and gunwook made a small name for himself. he performs at small cafes and restaurants and holds small fanmeetings every now and then. only to find you, of course, but yet, he was making very little progress.
“the fansign starts in a few minutes,” junhyeon mentions, preparing gunwook before he gets on stage. “maybe the person you like is here?”
gunwook sighs. he does not want to give up but his chances are getting slimmer and slimmer. “i don’t know man, what if they aren’t here?”
junhyeon gives his friend a sad smile. “even if they aren’t maybe …” his eyes goes all over the place, finding a way to cheer his friend up. “i am sure they are cheering for you from afar!”
gunwook returns a smile before heading onto stage, greeting fans and soon, the autograph session begins. an hour or so passed, the autograph session ending but with no sign of you. he has lived over a hundred years without you, how much longer must he live till he finds you again?
“no luck?” junhyeon asked, patting him on the back. gunwook shakes his head, disappointed but not surprised. junhyeon drops him off at home, assuring him that there is a right time for everything. he drives off, leaving gunwook standing in front of his apartment block.
disappointed and sad, gunwook heads to the nearby convenience store. he did not have the urge to cook anything. he goes in and bought a few items for himself, planning to have his late-night snack in the store itself. he opens a bag of chips and pops a few into his mouth when-
“i didn’t go to the fansign.”
gunwook, intrigued, turned to look at the person who was sitting a few chairs away from him, talking onto the phone. for a moment, he thought it was about him but he wasn’t that famous so he dismissed the thought away, not wanting to stare.
“i wanted to okay! but my boss needed me to work and i just … didn’t go. it’s probably better that way, i would have panicked and not talk at all as soon as i see the park gunwook.”
gunwook’s ears perked up and looked right back again. the way the person said his name felt all too familiar.
“there will be another chance in the future-“ the person turned to looked at gunwook and that’s when everything clicked.
it was you.
“i have to go, bye.” you hung up the phone and stared at gunwook, embarrassed that you were just fangirling over him when he was right beside you. but an unknown feeling came over you as you look at him. then, everything clicked.

synopsis ; reader always had a crush on their best friend, jake. too scared to confess, reader pushes their feelings away just so they can never lose jake. but what happens when one of their usual late night deep talks takes a turn?
genre ; slight angst, best friends to lovers, idiots really, stargazing together !!!, fluff ?
pairings ; jake x reader
word count ; 1.6k words
you stare at the picture your best friend jake sent you. ‘does my outfit look okay?’ he texted you, waiting for a reply on the other side of the screen. you mentally screamed.
of course you do, anything you wear looks great, you said in your head. it was the jake sim for that matter, he always look good.
‘you look a little better than most days’
you replied before throwing your phone on your bed. how could one look so good? you and jake had been friends since kindergarten. long time friends, you honestly have no idea when the line of platonic or romantic feelings started to blur. it felt like you had a crush on him forever. definitely not love at first sight. but if you were to go backwards and pick up the little moments where you felt more-than-friends love,
you would end up right back to the moment you first ever saw him.
you hated the feelings though. you couldn’t accept them. you knew jake in and out so you knew whenever he had a crush on someone. and you had to admit, you did look for those signs whenever you guys were hanging out, for any tiny hint of reciprocated feelings. but you could never find any.
so, you pushed the feelings away. you couldn’t risk confessing, breaking the friendship and losing your best friend of almost twenty years. it was better to have him right by your side while suffering through it rather than having him gone while still suffering.
a ding comes out from your phone. you sat down on the side of your bed and pick it up, a text from him coming through.
‘so you think i’m good looking today :D who is this and what happened to yn ?? they would never tell me i am handsome’
obviously, you thought. any compliments that come from right out of your mouth will show your true feelings. you could never allow that.
‘i take my words back. you look hideous’
your phone dings again.
‘no take backs’
there was a moment of silence before another text comes through.
‘we are meeting tonight at the rooftop right?’
you type out a quick ‘yes’ before shutting your phone off, not responding anymore. how much longer could you hide these feelings? ever since you were kids, you had quite the obsession with stars. or anything space related. so when jake found you just laying down on the rooftop late at night one day when you guys were 10, it quickly became a tradition to hang out there at least once a week.
you loved the stars and the secrets of the universe but if any one were to ask you any questions about it, you frankly couldn’t give a scientific answer. you loved the philosophical sense of it though, about how there’s multiple multiverses and different universes. jake, being the smarter one of the two of you, went on to study astronomy in school.
of course, since you moved over the years, you guys could not hang out at the original rooftop you started the tradition at. but thankfully, the tiny apartment building you are currently living in had an accessible rooftop to use. you sighed as you thought about jake.
maybe in another universe, you did not have feelings for him.
“and you know what sunghoon did? he took the last piece of chicken!”
the both of you were now on the rooftop, sitting down as you gaze at the stars together. it was a good night, the sky was clear, no chance of rain or any feelings getting in the way, you could absolutely see the stars tonight.
“how scandalous,” you said in a sarcastic tone. “how dare he take the last piece of chicken!”
“that’s what i’m saying!” jake laughs, turning to look at you before looking back at the stars. “and what about you? we haven’t seen each other in so long, oh my god?”
you guys were working adults now, well jake was busy preparing for graduate school while you had a typical 9-5 job, so you couldn’t see jake as much as you used to. which makes you appreciate the rooftop talks a lot more. but it also helps you to push the feelings away. the less you see him, the more likely the feelings will go away, right?
you shrugged. “eh, the typical. wake up at 7, prepare, leave, arrive to work at 9, leave at 5, come back.” you were living in a constant cycle, the same thing over and over again.
maybe in another universe, you went on to pursue your actual dream of film, not taking the safe option.
jake looks at you sadly. “you should have some fun in your life! why not go out and date someone?”
ouch.
“as if,” you scoffed. “you scared off a couple of my exes while i was dating them.”
jake grins, clearly having no regrets. “they were assholes. i did you a huge favour.” he looks at you before starting to lie down, his head resting on your thigh. your heart skipped a beat. he could just breath and you will find reasons to fall for him all over again. “what are you doing?” you questioned, hoping that it’s too dark that he could not see your face turning red.
“this is comfortable,” he says, now laying down on your thigh while he looks up to the stars. “why do you love the stars so much?”
“i don’t know, why do you?” you asked without much thought.
“cause you like them.”
you paused at that. jake could have no other undertone in those words but your heart still managed to race a little faster. “oh,” was all you could say.
jake smiles at your reaction. “you liked them so much when we were kids, so i got interested in them.”
you smiled at that, your hands unconsciously going up to play with his fringe, before stopping yourself. “oh. sorry-“ you start to apologise, moving your hand away. but jake holds onto your hand, placing it back on his head. “don’t. it feels nice.”
you smiled softly but god, jake was not helping your case of losing feelings. he closes his eyes while you played with his hair. he looked so good, it made you breathless. the moonlight on his face, god, jake looked ethereal.
“but what about you?” he started to ask while you continue to play with his hair softly. “you seemed like you lost interest in the stars over the years.”
you paused, unsure of what to say. “it’s not that i lost interest …” your voice trails off. “nothing seems to be going my way in this universe.”
jake smiles softly at that, his eyes still closed while you continue to play with his hair. “but you still believe that there are different universes? you believe in the multiverse still, right?”
you nod. it was the one thing you couldn’t let go off. if you were going through something bad, you would always tell yourself that in another universe, a version of you is going through so much worse but is still pushing on. so, it gave you motivation in life.
“in another universe …” your voice trails off, thinking. “i got to do what i wanted in school.”
the aussie boy opens his eyes, looking at you. “in another universe, sunghoon didn’t take the last piece of chicken!”
you both laugh at that. this was the kid you fell for. the one who always had your heart even when you were dating other people.
you didn’t know what came over you but it was as if you had no control over yourself when your mouth started to form the words.
“in another universe …” you paused, before saying what you have always wanted to say. “we are dating.”
jake looks at you, with a certain look on his face that you could not quite tell. was it shock? was it happiness? or was it just nothing at all?
“i mean-“ you started to say to save yourself. you stopped playing with his hair, panicking. did that count as a confession? probably not. but it was something. “it’s the universe! there’s so many possibilities, you know?”
jake looks away, not saying anything. did i fuck up? you thought.
“how disappointing then,” he whispers.
disappointing? did he really see you as nothing but a friend?
“is the thought of dating me really that bad?” you joked, nervously laughing. jake shook his head, looking back at you. “it’s not that, just …” his voice trails off, his eyes staring right back at you. for once, he looked like he was staring at you the same way you looked at the stars.
“why can’t that be this universe?”
you paused. did you hear that right? “what?”
still looking at you, jake repeats what he said softly. “i said, why can’t us dating be in this current universe?”
your eyes widen. did he just …
“yes, idiot, i like you. a lot.”
all the words left your mouth. you did not know what to say. jake likes you back?
he looks at you, hoping for some type of reply or reaction from you. “i …” you begin to say. “… hope that we are living in the universe where we date, too.”
jake smiles at that, his hand going up to the back of your neck before pulling you down for a short and sweet kiss. he pulls away, both of you having the same childish grins on your face.
in another universe …
wait, no.
in this universe, you are happily dating the one that had your heart for years.
synopsis ; remembering is a love language and sunghoon makes sure to show it every single time.
genre ; remembering is a love language, established couple, fluff !!, i am a sucker for people remembering the smallest things about me
parings ; sunghoon x reader, mentions of jake
word count ; 1.0k words
a/n ; hello everyone !! it’s been almost a month since i was last active .. sch has been so hectic i hate it so much </33 anyways i MAY be more active again but enjoy this sunghoon fic :)
sunghoon isn’t that affectionate of a person. everyone knows that. you knew that. he doesn’t mind skinship when it comes to you, but he rarely ever expresses his feelings.
he was also a forgetful person. he constantly forgot any assignments due, or how once he promised jake to walk his dog but completely forgot about it.
but when it comes to you, he will make sure to remember the smallest of details, even if you think it’s ‘too small’.
“hey, let’s go to that restaurant,” he once suggested to you after a long day of lectures. you raised an eyebrow at him. what restaurant?
“you know, the one you said you wanted to go,” he looked at your confused face and laughed before putting an arm over your shoulder, his smile reflecting yours. “you saw a video about it and showed it to me and was all like ‘let’s go there’, remember?”
you squinted your eyes, trying to remember. since when did you say that? you couldn’t even remember.
sunghoon laughed and he was now holding your hand, dragging you along with him. “let’s just go, you will know it.”
you in fact, did know the place he was talking about. the restaurant completely slipped your mind. you showed him a video of the place weeks ago, saying how you both should go there as an offhand comment. you didn’t think sunghoon would have actually listened and remembered, though.
while eating the food that you now started to crave, sunghoon grabbed the unopened can of coke in front of you and poured your drink into the cup, pushing it towards you.
it was something sunghoon always did whenever you both ate together. he would pour your drink for you and make you have a sip before eating your food. you weren’t sure when he started, though you were almost sure that he started doing it from before you both even started dating.
“sunghoon,” you called out after he poured your drink for you. “yeah?” he replied back, smiling.
“why do you always do that?” you have never questioned him about this before. you just thought he was being kind when he really didn’t have to. “did you do this before we got together?”
sunghoon raised an eyebrow at you. “do what?”
you pointed at the drink and the empty can in his hand. “that, pouring my drink.”
he blinked at you before realising what you meant, and then let out a small chuckle. “oh, that?”
he smiled at you before taking a bite out of his pasta. “drink first then i will talk.”
you rolled your eyes and took a sip, before turning back to him with a curious look in your eyes. sunghoon smiled at you, appreciating and taking in the sight of you. he loves you so much, even if he rarely says it.
“you never drink while eating, like never. your drink just stays unopened until you finish so i thought i would do it just to make you drink,” he grinned at you before taking out another bite of his meal. “this is really good, do you want some?”
you blinked, processing his words. you had the habit of not drinking while eating. you always ate first and only drink once you were done. you didn’t think sunghoon noticed that about you, in fact, it’s something you didn’t even realise you did.
“i … do that?”
sunghoon nods, before pushing his meal towards you. “eat this, it’s good. we should come here next time.”
“how?”
he tilted his head, taking a sip of his own drink. “how what? how to come back here? i mean there’s the bus, or train, maybe walking on a good day-“
“how did you know that?” you interrupted. “honestly, i never thought i did that.”
sunghoon shrugged and smiled at you, now picking up a forkful of pasta and putting it in your hands. “i just do,” he smiled softly, urging you to eat a bite of his meal. “now, eat.”
still ignoring the forkful of pasta that was now in your hand, you thought about what he said. “what other things you know?” you asked.
sighing, sunghoon now grabbed the fork off your hands. “do you really want to know?”
you nod, curious.
sunghoon paused and thought about it before clearing his throat. he knew so much about you, what should he even say?
“well, i know that you always pull your necklace whenever you get nervous, you especially pull it even more when you have to present in front of the class”—you let out a giggle—“you literally start pulling your sleeves up and your eyes go really big when you have some sort of crazy idea. you squint your eyes when you try to remember something as if you are trying to see what you remember.”
he laughed at the memory of the numerous times he have seen you done that. “you make sure you have a couple of dog toys laying around your house whenever my dog or jake’s dog comes over. i have literally seen you just throw them around so that they can ‘find’ it and play with it.”
“you really wanted to go to a museum so surprise, i got tickets to go there this weekend.”
“i think your favourite colour is blue because it is the colour of the sky and you used to love cloud watching as a kid and-“
you stopped him right there, leaning over and giving him a peck on the lips to cut him off. “okay, just say you are downbad for me and move on,” you teased, making sunghoon turn red in the face. was it really that obvious?
whenever it comes to you, sunghoon never shuts up.
“but how do you know all that?” you asked again. “i don’t think i have ever said anything.”
sunghoon shrugged, now feeding you the forkful of pasta that you kept ignoring. “because,” he started to say while he watches you finally take a bite. “i don’t have to ask just to know.” he paused while he nudged for you to take another sip of your drink.

a/n ; it’s been so long omg how are yall !!!! and also to anon i hope you like it this is like my first time writing soemtbing like this LOL i hope i didn’t mess up
you groaned as you turned and turned on your bed. you put the pillow over your face. the bright lights were hurting your eyes so bad.
your body was aching all over. you were getting so tired. no matter how much you tried to sleep the pain away or take painkillers, it just won’t go away.
you sat up despite the pain, you wanted to turn the lights off. which nurse thought it was a great idea to on the lights so early in the morning? you were about to get off the bed when—
“what do you think you are doing!”
you heard the door slide open and you looked up to see a familiar guy in a blue hoodie. he closed the door behind him, immediately coming by your bed and getting you to lay back down.
“you shouldn’t move,” he said, making you lay down again. he was holding a few plastic bags and placed them gently on a nearby table. “i got us some breakfast.”
“hanbin,” you mumbled, feeling aches all over. “the lights, it’s too—“
hanbin immediately went over to the light switch, dimming it down. “there, better?” he asked softly, coming by your side again. you nod, closing your eyes. you just felt so tired. you spent the most of the previous days going through tests and checkups, you were exhausted.
hanbin smiled, sitting down on a stool beside your bed. he pat your head, relaxing you. “i got us some breakfast in case you were hungry. i got your favourite sandwich from the stall across my house,” he whispered softly, standing up again and getting a sandwich he out of the plastic bags he was holding earlier.
he came back by your side as he unwraps the packaging. “the auntie there asks me how you are doing,” he said as he held the sandwich in front of your mouth. he began to feed you, watching you softly as you take a bite. “i tell her you are doing better but you will still be here for awhile.”
you reached out to get the sandwich out of his hands but hanbin pulled back, shaking his head. “let me feed you.”
“but i can do it myself,” you pouted.
“i know, but let me help you.”
“but—“
hanbin shoved a piece of sandwich into your mouth. “i want to.”
you stopped protesting, letting him feed you. once you were done, hanbin unscrewed the cap of a water bottle and handed it to you, making you drink.
he watched you drink, a small smile on his face. once you were done, he took it back from you, putting it away. “do you have anything to do today?” he asked, playing with your fingers.
“probably more tests,” you replied, sighing. “they need to test my blood levels again so…”
hanbin nodded, patting your head again. you were afraid of needles so having to deal with them almost every day wasn’t really the best. he knew that, of course. he knew how much you always dreaded them so he always made sure to be there when you have to go through the whole process.
“it’s okay,” he said, smiling at you. “i am proud that you are still so strong.”
you turned your head to face him, smiling softly. “you go through this every single day, countless of checkups and tests,” he continued. “and you still manage to be the happiest, best person ever. you always tried to show that it doesn’t affect you but it’s okay, you don’t have to hide it around me.”
hanbin leaned in and gave you a soft kiss on the forehead. “you will get better and won’t have to take more tests. you will get discharged and go out about in the world. and i will be with you, every step of the way.”
you smiled even brighter. god, how did you get so lucky?
“thank you,” you mumbled, bringing your hand up to his cheek. you caressed it softly as he leans into your touch. as much as how you hated being there in the hospital, it was okay as long as you had hanbin by your side.
him being there was your preferred way of getting better. who needs pills and tests when hanbin is by your side?

reality 831 . .
you slumped on your chair, groaning. the assignments never end. day after day, you were constantly staying up till 2am in attempts to finish up your work. you were getting barely two hours of sleep, that is not healthy at all.
you glanced at your phone sitting beside the papers spread all over your desk. 2:53am.
that’s a new record.
you stretched your arms around. you told yourself to finish one more assignment and then take a break. classes doesn’t start till 8am for you so you still have a little time to squeeze in an hour worth of sleep.
you sat up straight, picking up your pencil and went back to staring at your brightly-lit laptop. you kept reading the same words over and over again, your eyes kept dropping every second. you fought against yourself, trying to stay awake. but—
‘hello? can you hear me? is this working?’
you instantly snapped your eyes open. what the hell?
that was not your own thoughts, was it? were you that tired that you were starting to hallucinate the sound of your own thoughts? you shook your head, snapping your laptop shut. you needed a break.
you lay down on your bed, too tired to think when—
‘is this too late … are you asleep?’
you opened your eyes. that voice, again. there was no way it was just a hallucination at that point, right?
‘why is my luck so bad, do i seriously have no soulmate?’
“soulmate?” you whispered to yourself. how was that possible? at that point, you knew that voice was not your own. it was a sweet, melodic voice. for a moment, there was silence. and you wished the voice came back. it was so soothing, so calm. a few seconds of him speaking could put you to sleep for a lifetime.
‘hello …?’
there was no response so you gave up. maybe it was just your tiredness. you have been sleeping rather late—
‘you heard me.’
‘so let me get this straight, soulmates exist?’
‘yes..? did you not know? it’s literally all everyone talks about.’
you finally figured out the tiny voice in your head, and for the first few weeks, you thought you were crazy. no one else had a voice claiming to be their soulmate, yet why was a strange little voice trying to convince you that he was yours?
‘soulmates don’t exist.’
‘i wouldn’t be talking to you if they didn’t.’
you scrunched your nose. you were on the bus, heading home and anyone looking at you would have thought you were crazy. you were making different facial expressions on your face. and you had a voice talking to you in your head.
insane.
‘i have never heard anyone talking about this before.’
‘really? it’s the one thing my parents have always been talking about. i have been trying for years and it finally worked.’
you tilted your head. maybe you should ask your own parents.
the bus came into a halt and you realised it was your stop. you quickly got up from your seat and got off the bus stop, still skeptical about this whole thing. he had a nice voice, you would give him that.
‘i must be crazy, there is no way this is real.’
‘i am real, i swear!’
reality 832 . .
‘yn, let’s meet!’
the both of you have been talking for over a month now. hanbin has slightly convinced you that soulmates do exist and that he is one hundred percent real, but you were still skeptical of everything.
so what better way to convince you than meeting up?
hanbin got no response, did he scared you away?
‘yn..?’
‘meeting up? you are crazy, sung hanbin.’
your laughter echoed around his head. he smiled at your reply. he had only been hearing your voice for the last month and he never knew he could be smitten from the sound of your laughter. he would gladly choose to hear just your laughter for the rest of his life.
‘what if we are living in different countries? do you not think?’
‘i work at ludia cafe, do you know that place?’
there was a moment of silence and hanbin was afraid he had scared you away. maybe you were looking up the cafe right now, maybe you both were actually living in different countries—
‘i live near there.’
hanbin immediately beamed and gathered his things. he could not wait to meet you.
‘can’t wait to see you.’
hanbin stood outside the cafe, looking around. he had no idea how you looked like, but he was sure that if he heard your laughter for even a second, he could recognise you right away.
his heart skips a beat whenever he spot a a figure approaching him, but his heart plummets when he realised it was not you.
‘hanbin, are you playing with me right now?’
‘no, i am waiting outside the cafe.’
it was silent for a few minutes. what happened to you?
‘are you sure you are outside?’
hanbin nodded even though no one else was around him to see it.
‘positive.’
‘i am outside right now and i see no one.’
hanbin found it odd. he was outside too but there was no one standing around besides a stray cat mindlessly walking around.
‘the bright blue sign of ludia is staring right at me—‘
hanbin’s eyes widen when he heard that. blue? he looked up to the signage above him. it was purple.
‘what? are you at the wrong place? the sign is purple.’
hanbin looked around. maybe you were colour blind? yet, there was no one else on the streets besides him.
‘what? there is a banner right in front of the store. they have hamster decorations all over the place—‘
hanbin tilted his head. that was literally the cafe he works at. it was as if you both were standing at the exact same spot, but at different points of time.
‘—and they have a poster of strawb—.’
‘—strawberry latte.’
hanbin finished your sentence and that is when it finally dawned on him.
you weren’t from his reality.
reality 831 . .
‘so your reality has soulmates, but mine doesn’t?’
‘seems like so.’
you pouted. why were you stuck in the boring reality?
‘that’s no fun.’
hanbin’s chuckle bounced around your head and you swear you could just faint at any moment. you wished you could just record his voice and keep it on replay for the rest of your life.
‘yet, how are you talking to me? shouldn’t you be talking to your soulmate?’
‘i guess i already am.’
you laid down in your bed, thinking. you and hanbin had tested the theory out, you both went to the same places over the past few weeks and you finally confirmed one thing.
hanbin is from a different universe.
it explained a few things, like how there were small differences between the places you both went to ‘together’. or how in his universe, the idea of soulmates actually exists while in yours, it was just a mere fantasy.
yet you both found each other.
though it was fun to talk to him, the fact you could not physically meet him frustrated you. he is your soulmate, yet how are you guys universes apart?
‘hanbin, i need to study right now. i can’t talk to you.’
you could imagine hanbin pouting and you had to resist the urge to tell the whole universe apart just to go over and see him.
‘i can still talk to you..’
‘i need to focus.’
it was silent for a moment before hanbin came back again.
‘okay, see you yn.’
reality 832 . .
hanbin pouted when he didn’t hear a response from you. even though he was so glad that he finally connected with his soulmate after so many years, yet, why did you have to be living so far away?
‘yn, are you there?’
no response.
‘can you hear me?’
he started to notice your replies were getting shorter and shorter. and you would go days and weeks without saying a word. what happened?
‘hanbin.’
hanbin almost leapt out of your seat when he finally heard your voice. it’s been weeks, where have you been?
‘what happened? were you busy with school?’
no response for the next few minutes and hanbin panicked again. oh no, were you going to disappear again?
‘can you hear—‘
‘we should stop this.’
hanbin blinked slowly. what? stop what?
‘this. us talking. it’s not.. good.’
his mouth went dry while he started to pace around his room. you were his soulmate, you both never physically even met. you both physically cannot ever meet.
‘what—‘
‘we don’t live in the same universe. we are so far, i cannot spend the rest of my life trying to talk to my soulmate through the voice of my head.’
hanbin stood still. it’s true, he has been thinking about it for a while. but, you were his soulmate. even if you both were universes apart.
‘i’m sorry hanbin. if only life gave you a better soulmate.’
‘that’s not true!’
hanbin protested but he heard no response.
‘i will find you yn, trust me on this. maybe there’s a yn that exists in my universe. maybe there’s a hanbin in yours. we can talk lesser! just don’t stop talking to me?’
you didn’t respond and hanbin ruffled his hair. he wanted to hear you for one last time. he would do anything to hear you again.

you heard your phone ring beside you. you were at your school’s library, in the private study room that you had booked. despite the constant ringing and the vibrations reaching its way to you, you didn’t spare a glance at your phone.
your fingers were flying all over the keyboard, your eyes going back and forth from your laptop to the notes and textbooks all over your desk. you couldn’t look at your phone. you only had one thing to do.
study.
the exams were nearby, two months away, and you were absolutely stressing. you felt behind on your work, even though you really weren’t. you clutched your pen tightly, your hand aching. your hands did hurt, but your personal motive was to study first, suffer first and enjoy later.
studies above everything, right?
you were way too focused on a math problem that you didn’t even notice a certain someone walking into the study room you were in.
you felt hands on your shoulder, making you flinch. “boo!”
on instinct, you punch the person behind you, the person immediately yelping in pain. “ouch!”
you immediately recognised the voice, it was none other than your friend, lee heeseung.
you rolled your eyes, not apologising to him. he deserved it.
heeseung chuckled, leaning against the wall. since it was a private study room, there was no other seat for him to take. he looked at what you were doing and shook his head. he knew you always studied but exams were at least two months away. you needed a break.
“what are you doing?” he asked, leaning forward and looking at the math problem you were doing. you didn’t answer, looking from your problem to the solution on your laptop.
your answer was wrong.
you were the school’s top student, how could you get something wrong? it was such a simple question too, how could you?
heeseung glanced at your answer and back to the solution on the screen. he looked at you, immediately realising how you were feeling. this won’t do.
“okay, let’s do something.” he closed your laptop, making you protest and finally glancing him for once ever since he got there. he puts a finger to your lips, shutting you up. “no buts, we are going to the convenience store nearby for a drink. more importantly, a break. you need it.”
you stopped protesting. he wasn’t wrong. as much as you hated to take a break, you were thirsty. your water bottle had ran out while you were studying but you were way too focused to get another drink. it’s been hours since you last drank or eaten something.
“fine,” you finally agreed, a smile creeping up on heeseung’s face. “but you are paying.”
“deal.”
exam was a week away, and like always, you could be found at the library. not the school library this time, the school always closed earlier than you would like, but at a public library which was open for twenty-four hours.
you were however, accompanied by heeseung. whenever it was exam period, he would make sure to study with you. you didn’t mind his presence, even though you were constantly annoyed by his stupid questions, or his half-hourly breaks. but you had gotten used to it, enjoying his presence beside you.
don’t tell heeseung you said that though.
“is this right?” he asked you, sliding the piece of paper towards you with the questions and the answer he had gotten. you looked over it, and heeseung stared at your face softly, observing your features. his eyes carefully looks over your face, as if you were a delicate statue that could break from just a single glance.
he noticed how you made a different face whenever you were focused, and even though he loved that about you, he wished you made that face a lot lesser, not studying for twenty-five hours in eight days a week.
“it’s wrong,” you said, scribbling down the corrections on his paper. “you are supposed to carry the 32 over, which will make y equal 21 …”
heeseung zoned out. he knew he got the question wrong. he just wanted you to spare him a glance, wanting to take your attention away from your notes.
you snapped your fingers infront of him. was he seriously not listening?
“hello? heeseung?” you grumbled, a little annoyed. he snapped back into reality, looking down on the paper which was now filled with your different notes on how to get the answer. “oh, yes! the answer would be 43 then, right?” he grinned at you.
you sighed, but nod. he was right. “yeah.”
his grin grew brighter, and you swore that you almost felt calmer than before. you mentally shook your head, before going back on concentrating on your notes.
only a week to go before exam starts, and a few weeks before it ends.
‘yn, second place.’
you stared at the ranking. you, second? there was no way. there must have been a mistake. you and second place never went well in a sentence. you were the top student, always first.
what happened?
there were whispers around you, a couple of your friends comforting you.
“second place is really good!”
“you are literally higher than the whole school but one person.”
“seriously, graded aren’t everything. and that’s really good! it doesn’t matter.”
if only they knew.
“you did your best,” heeseung came up to you once everyone dispersed to their respective classroom. you were still staring at the ranking sheet on the newsboard. “that guy just got lucky. i assure you, you can don’t study for the next exam and you will easily get first place without even trying.”
you smiled softly at his attempt to comfort you, not saying anything. you let the school day go by, not having much thoughts.
you, second place? with all that studying? with the sleepless nights? you, second place? absolutely not.
you couldn’t believe it. what happened to you?
“do you want to go to burger king together? i’m so hungry,” heeseung asked you after school. “exams are over and it will be so good to grab dinner-“
you shook your head, already taking out your notebooks to study. again. “no, you can go though. i will just study.”
heeseung raised an eyebrow. he knew you always studied, but exams just ended. couldn’t you take a break?
he snatched your notebook away, almost looking angry. “cmon yn, exams are over! take a break.” he held the notebook high up, and he was unfortunately way taller than you that you couldn’t even reach for your notebook. that tall bastard.
“no! i’m not the top anymore so-“
heeseung shuts you up again by placing his hand over your mouth, while he packed your things up. he did not want to hear anything more. you need a break.
“no buts, burger king now.”
he carried your bag, leaving the classroom. you stood there in disbelief, following after him. what other choice did you have?
“oh, that was tasty.”
you grimaced. it tasted average to you.
heeseung noticed your face and laughed, he was still carrying your bag. he refused to give it back to you, knowing you would just study even while eating. “okay, i haven’t eaten anything decent in a while. with exams and everything …”
the mention of exams brought the memory of you placing second back. you momentarily forgot about it but it came rushing back to you. heeseung noticed the change in your expression, and mentally hit himself. how could he? he was trying his best to make you forget about it.
heeseung knew you, and he knew that you were being hard on yourself for the ranks.
“no, i didn’t mean that-“
you shook your head, cutting his words off while you try to get back your bag from him. “it’s okay. thanks for dinner, but i think i will go to the library now.”
you got your bag back, and start to head off in the opposite direction. you can’t let yourself stay in second place. no, absolutely not. the top student not being the top anymore? absolutely not.
heeseung ran after you, grabbing your hand to stop you from walking. he was doing his best to make you feel better, why couldn’t you see that?
“yn, seriously, take a break-“
“no!” you finally bursted, being louder than you originally intended but it didn’t stop you.
“i can’t, okay? i studied all my life, i can only ever study. when i’m stressed, studying is the solution. when i’m free, studying is there. i live and breathe studying, so who am i when the person who studies at their every waking moment don’t get first place?” you felt tears welling up in your eyes and normally, you would hate crying in front of anyone. but at that moment, you didn’t care. you were crying in front of heeseung, it didn’t matter.
“nothing can stop me from studying so i am sorry if i’m being unreasonable right now-“
“i am here.”
you paused, finally looking at heeseung, trying to figure out what he said. “what?”
“i am here,” he repeated softly, wiping your tears away. “i am here to stop you from studying, i am always here. for you.”
he chuckled looking at your expression, wiping your tears away with the sleeve of his blazer. “you can study as much as you want, but i am always here to remind you to take breaks, enjoy life, to go out. i will be here for you all the time, reminding you about everything else. i am here for you.”
you choked on his words, somehow doing the opposite of what he intended and crying even more. heeseung panicked, bringing you into a hug and letting you cry into his chest. “i am always here, okay?” he whispered, calming you down.
heeseung has always managed to calm you down, no matter the situation, and you were grateful for that.
“thank you,” you said softly, pulling away from the hug and looking up to him.
heeseung smiled, giving you a peck on your lips, still wiping the tears away. “salty,” he commented, making him receive a playful slap on his shoulder from you.
synopsis ; reader constantly had to move when they were younger, so no place ever felt like home to them. even their childhood home felt foreign. but they have only ever considered one place truly home and that is right in hao’s arms.
genre ; angst, the scariness of growing up, homesickness, small mention of death, reader and hao knew each other as kids but fell apart

you looked over your room. the falling off posters, the scattered lego pieces on your desk, the worn out papers and books. that was what you had expected to see, a reminiscent of your childhood. instead, a nearly empty and neat room was staring back at you. it was as if you had never lived there.
you moved around a lot as a kid, mainly because of your parents’ jobs and living situations. but you always managed to end up back at your childhood home, as that was where your mother lived. you spent most of your school breaks there before moving away again for school to start.
you took a step into your room. your room was almost empty. or at least, it felt empty. the books were neatly arranged and your bed was neatly kept. the posters were placed nicely on the wall. it felt foreign.
how could something you spent a good portion of your life at feel like a stranger to you?
with your mother’s passing, you went back home just to gather and pack a few things. it had been years since you have last seen her and you really wished you had hung around a lot longer. you dismissed any negative thoughts away, you had a complicated relationship with your parents. no point in dwelling over them.
you walked out to the backyard, looking at it with a sense of longing. you played around in it with your grandparents once. they passed years ago. the house may feel like a stranger to you but its your house, your memories were still intact.
a memory of you playing football with a young boy flashed into your head. you smiled bitterly at the thought. hao, you thought. you haven’t seen him in so long. how was he? was he even still living in your town? probably not.
he was probably the only consistent thing in your life. you used to go to school with him when you were still living there, and you two quickly became the best of friends. so when you first moved, you could not bare the thought of telling him that you left. how could you? the thought of seeing a crying hao broke you.
so you left.
without a goodbye.
of course, you came back to visit your mother during your school breaks and that’s when you saw hao again. he lived a few houses away and according to your mom, he always came over to see if you were back. a nine-year-old hao, coming over to your house almost every single day, just to know if you were back.
you first went back when you were eleven, two years later, and facing hao broke you. it was too much for the eleven-year-old you. hao was so prepared to be angry at you for leaving but seeing you break down in front made him forget his initial anger.
he comforted you, saying that it was okay that you left without a goodbye and he could never hate you for it (he did but he still got to see you again, no?). you felt so bad, crying into his arms. you didn’t say goodbye because you did not want to see him cry, but now that you were back, you were the one crying.
“hang out with me everyday to make up for it.”
so that’s what you did. you hung out with hao at every chance you got. you had to make up for it. on the days leading up to your departure again, you and hao made a promise to spend every break with each other.
and that’s what you did.
the next few times that you came back was when you were twelve leading all the way till you were sixteen. and for some reason, you stopped after that.
you never went back home.
you didn’t know why, it just happened. you got busy a lot when you were sixteen, studying for so many exams. you spent one of the few school breaks studying so you didn’t travel. and that continued. so you stopped going back completely. you even lost contact with hao. you lost his phone number when your phone broke and you had zero means of contacting him again. so when you stopped heading home, you stopped seeing him too.
it was around the time you realised you caught feelings for him. but what could you do? you just let yourself suffer in silence.
you snapped out of your thoughts. you wonder how was your friend doing now. did he go off to school for music? you knew he loved to play the violin, there were times where he would play for you. in fact, there was a song he composed just for you, and he would play it only for you.
you left the house, deciding to go around town and look back on the places you frequent. you passed by the playgrounds you went to with hao, the cafes and shops you visited with hao. no matter where you went, you could always connect it with a memory back to hao.
the shopowners recognised you, saying how much you have grown since the last time (which was something they said every single time you visited).
“have you met with hao yet?” one of the restaurant owners asked you when you entered the store to greet her.
you passed at the mention of his name. the mention of his name made your heart drop. all these years and you are still the same.
“not yet,” you said. “but i should go-“
“yn?”
your ears recognised the voice instantly. everything is the same. you turned around and there he was, a guy wearing a white hoodie and glasses staring right at you.
if your heart dropped at the mention of his name, your heart dropped to the pits of hell with the sight of him.
“it has really been a long time, hm?”
it was now the middle of the night. the both of you were at the playground you both always played at as kids. you guys were sitting on the swings, silence surrounding the two of you.
“so …” you cleared your throat. “what have you been up to?”
hao shrugged, looking over at you. “well, i am majoring in music. i get to play violin every now and then …” he started to say. “i’m working on getting a teaching license to teach people how to play the violin.”
“woah, that’s great hao!” you beamed. you felt happy for him. you knew how much hao loved to play the violin so seeing him doing something he loves made you feel really happy. “must be a really eventful last few years, right?”
hao looks at you with a look on his face that you couldn’t pinpoint. did he look angry that you never came back and randomly showed up after all these years? “… right,” he finally says after a moment of silence.
the silence surrounds the both of you again. you guys could have talked for weeks straight when you were kids, so why was it so different now? how much has time changed?
“look i have to go,” hao says as he gets up from the swing, getting ready to leave. the awkwardness was too much for him to bare. “it’s nice seeing you again, yn. you don’t have to find me when you leave again,” he emphasised on again, confirming your suspicions that he was angry at you.
he started to walk away when you got up from the swings, stopping him from leaving, grabbing his arm. “hao, wait.”
he looks at you, seeing what you have to say. “i’m sorry for not coming back,” you said. “with exams and everything … i just got so busy. and my phone broke! i lost your number and-“
hao removed your grip on his arm. “i get that, okay? you don’t have to apologise,” he said in a more harsh tone than he expected. “sorry,” he quickly apologised. “and look, we were kids. everyone falls apart. not everyone keeps their childhood friendships so i get that. it’s just … it always felt like you never made an effort to try.”
you were stunned. was that how hao felt? you always made an effort, didn’t you?
“i …” no words were coming out of your mouth. why couldn’t you say anything?
hao looks at you, hoping for some type of answer from you before sighing. “i have to go. see you whenever, i guess.” he walks away, leaving you in the playground alone with your thoughts.
you were back at home, but at what cost? did it take you losing your mother and friend to come back?
you were back at your childhood home, thinking about the encounter with hao. did you really make no effort? you try to deny it but the more you thought about it, the more you realised you really didn’t. it was always hao doing things. he always comforted you first, he always asked to hung out first, he always asked to go this and that first.
it was always him.
you didn’t even tell him you were going to move at first, and that made you feel like the most horrible friend. and once you were sixteen, you always made excuses to not return to the town. saying that you had to study, or that you have to work, always making up excuses. you avoided the town at all costs, probably because your relationship with your mother had worsen a little too.
but shouldn’t hao be worth coming back to?
you felt a strange sense of homesickness. you felt a weird longing to go home. but you were home. you were in your childhood home. but why didn’t it felt like one? why did you still want to go home? you felt suffocated in the house, wanting to go home but you were clearly there.
you couldn’t take it anymore. you had to go see hao. this time, you had to make an effort.
you gathered your things and quickly left, heading to hao’s house. you knew the way from the back of your mind. you knew all the little shortcuts to his house, it was as if you never left. you got to his house. you couldn’t leave again without even see him.
you were about to ring the doorbell but you realised the window was open and from the outside, you overheard the melodic sound of the violin. you listened carefully, you knew hao was practicing his violin and you didn’t want to disturb him. you listened to what song he was playing and your ears perked up immediately. you recognised it.
it was the song he made for you.
he stopped playing after awhile and sees you outside his window. you saw him looking at you and you quickly ducked, embarrassed. hao finally opens the door and sees you standing there. “what are you doing here?” he asked in a cold tone.
no words came out of your mouth. what were you going to say?
“hao i’m …” you start to say, tears swelling up in your eyes. “i’m so sorry. it’s not that i don’t make an effort i’m just … so scared. i leave a lot, i’m always moving. i’m constantly changing. but yet you—“ your voice cracks. “—are always here. you are always the same. i don’t want you to deal with someone like me so yes it seems like i don’t make an effort but i’m scared that you will hate me so much if one day i leave and never come back so-“ you were breaking down by then and hao hugs you, stopping you from crying.
“it’s okay,” he says in a soothing tone. “no matter how many times you leave, i’m always here. i will always stay.” he pats your head, calming you down. “i’m still here, aren’t i?”
he pulls away slightly to look at you, his arms still around your waist. “i can never hate you. yes, i hate you so much for leaving and moving and not coming back. but i am still here. i will always wait for you in this house of mine. and i will always wait for you at your house. waiting for you to come back to me.”
you pull him back for a hug, crying into his chest while he calms you down. how could someone be so perfect? you didn’t deserve him. “is it a bad time to say …” you hiccuped a little. “… that i realised i had a crush on you when we were like sixteen and i didn’t come back since?”
you hear hao chuckle while he continues to pat your head. “why do you think i made a song for you and played it only for you?”
you looked up at him, hao wiping your tears away. he gives you a peck on your lips. “i said i will always wait for you to come back to me, right? i always will but please, don’t leave me again.”
you smile while you hug him closer, thankful. you guys stayed like that for awhile, you in his arms.
synopsis ; in a world where multidimensional travel exists, niki does all he can to find reader again.
genre ; angst, modern fantasy, time travelling / multidimensional travel, lowkey inspired by howl’s moving castle but only that one specific line
pairings ; niki x reader, mentions of heeseung
word count ; 1.3k words
niki takes in a deep breath.
you can do this, he told himself. after going through numerous tests and experiments, he was finally ready to travel. there was only one goal in his mind and it was to find you.
you disappeared years ago without a trace. no body, no clues, no leads. despite everyone saying you must have just left, niki thought otherwise. he was so sure you were out there, just lost.
“are you ready?” the scientist, mr lee heeseung, asked from behind the booth. he was the one in charge for niki’s travel to the multiverse and it was also his duty that he comes back in one piece.
“remember, you have only five chances to travel in one trip. if you use your last chance to travel to a different dimension and not come back here, you will be stuck-“ mr lee warned but niki waved his hand.
he heard it countless of times, he could probably say it in his sleep. “i know, i know,” niki muttered. he took a step forward, standing in front of a blueish-purple metal box. this was how he was going to travel.
mr lee gave niki one more concerned look before pushing a few buttons, starting the travel. “your watch helps you to travel from dimension to dimension,” he shouted out, pointing at the watch that was around niki’s wrist. “you know how to use it right?”
niki nodded his head, already feeling lightheaded. after all those years, he finally got the chance to find you again.
“i cannot guarantee you will find them,” mr lee shouted but the metal box started to buzz, drowning out his voice. niki couldn’t hear him anymore, he couldn’t wait any longer.
taking one more deep breath, he reached out for the door handle and pulls back, taking a step into the box.
one step closer to finding you.
dimension one . .
niki blinked a couple of times, his head and mind going all over the place. groaning, he sat straight up. what happened?
mr lee nagged at him that the first travel was always the hardest, but niki didn’t think he would get a stabbing headache out of it. “ouch,” he groaned, looking around where he landed, processing everything.
futuristic flashing buildings were all over the place. this was definitely not his dimension. it was such a marvellous sight, niki momentarily forgot about his multidimensional-sickness and stood up. his mouth was agape, the city was so different from his home.
snapping back to reality, niki focused back to the goal in hand. finding you.
and that’s when it finally dawned on him.
how?
he didn’t think that through. groaning, niki ruffled his hair. he knew it wasn’t going to be easy but he had almost zero clue on how to find you.
he made up all sorts of ideas and plans just for this very situation, but now that he was actually in a different dimension, his mind went blank.
oh, yn, where did you go?
dimension three . .
niki got used to the whole travelling already. he has now used up his third chance to travel, having one more chance before needing to head back home.
it has been months, maybe close to a year, since he has left home just to find you. he has stayed for an average of five to six months in his previous two dimensions cause finding you was not easy.
niki found his way on finding you. he tracked down the restaurants that sold your favourite food, he asked around for you (assuming you stuck with the same name), he looked through government records just to see whether you had some sort of existence.
anything you can think of, niki has done it.
once there was clear proof you weren’t there, niki left for the next dimension.
“maybe heeseung is getting bored,” niki chuckled to himself once he found a new apartment to reside in. this current dimension wasn’t all that different from home. though, the more noticeable differences was the fact that the sky was pink and that people travelled via underwater. no cars on land, all vehicles were underwater.
“yn loved to swim, there’s no way they aren’t here,” niki mumbled once he figured out the whole transportation system.
niki couldn’t wait to see you again.
dimension six . .
it has been almost three years since niki started his travel to find you.
more than seven years if you count when you first went missing.
in his previous trip, niki used his last chance to quickly head back home (much to heeseung’s annoyance that niki took two years to make contact) before setting out again.
he will never give up when it comes to you. it may take his entire life but niki won’t stop until he finds you again.
his current dimension was rather interesting. there was no technology whatsoever, it was as if he went back in time (technically he was always time travelling). everything was as if it was the medieval era, and niki was amazed with every single little thing.
he found himself a nice little cottage hidden in a nearby forest and that’s when it dawned on him again.
this was a medieval era dimension.
they do not keep records of people. there’s no gps.
niki groaned again, ruffling his hair in annoyance. “you have got to be kidding me!” he muttered to himself, annoyed.
niki spent roughly two or three months asking the villagers about you, and trying to map out the village and the surrounding villages.
living there made him wonder how did people survive in the past. niki realised he was way too reliant on technology that once he got back home, he should cut his usage. “oh, but i’m trying to find yn because of technology..” he mumbled to himself while he began to set off on his daily walk.
there was one neighbourhood left in that village for niki to ask about you and that was just where he was headed.
walking along the streets, the aroma of freshly baked bread went up his nose. he recognised that scent immediately. it was your favourite bread.
“should i get it?” he mumbled to himself, rummaging through his tiny bag for money. “yn would love that-“
“please leave me alone.”
niki’s ears perked up at that voice. it sounded way too familiar to him. he looked around for the source and found himself in a tiny alleyway and all the way at the end was a muscular and way bigger man harassing a tinier person.
niki tilted his head. even from a distance, the figure seemed way too familiar to him. he squinted his eyes, trying to get a better look. could it be-?
the figure then turned their head slightly, and everything clicked to niki.
it was you.
“i don’t have the money okay!” you almost shouted. “i need more time, please-“ you felt an arm wrap around your shoulders, bringing you close to their body. you looked up and-
niki?
“i can pay,” niki smiled softly at you before turning to the bigger man. he took out a tiny pouch from his bag and placed it in the man’s hand. “that should be enough, no?”
the man opened the pouch up and counted the money. he let out a grunt, annoyed but a little satisfied before turning his heel.
once he was gone, niki turned to look at you, a soft smile on his face. after all these years, you were right in front of him again. tears welled up in your eyes. you thought you will never see him again. but now, you were in his arms again, the one place you desperately wished to be in for the past seven years.
“sorry i’m late, i was looking everywhere for you.”
